Crowd Calendar update. Yikes!

I just got a crowd calendar update for the first 2 weeks of June in my email. What happened? Everything went up! Several 7-9 updates and 6-8 updates. Epcot is listed as a 10 on June 9 which is a Tuesday! Is something going on?

I haven't been to The World in the summer for 13 years. Is it common for it to be this busy in the early summer?

WDW is getting far busier in general, all year long.

Epcot has morning EMH on the 9th, which will make it considerably busier than the other parks.

Summer is busy. Really busy. The rest of the year is pretty busy, too.

I just received a crowd calendar update for October 17-21 too. One day jumped from a 2 to a 5.

Got the same email for the last week of June/first week of July...lots of 9's 10's now...I'm not surprised... I didn't really think MK would be a 6 at the end of June anyway!

I got an update for my November trip and my 3's went up to 6's or 7's.

I just got one too for the last week in January. They have Hollywood Studios at 6+ all week now and my other days jumped 1 or 2 also. Does anyone know of anything happening in HS the last week of January?

Got mine for first week of December and it went from 1s to 3s to 4s to 6s now.

Fair, but you would think the planning sites, esp if people are paying for them, would have this down before people have already locked in their FP+s ... otherwise why bother ?

I just got an update for last week in August and like the others most everything went up.
The most extreme was resort wide on Aug 24 went from 4 to 8.
At first my heart sank a little bit but I looked it over a little more in depth and noticed some of the days and parks actually went down.
This is our end of summer relax and chill out before school starts so as long as my DD beats her Rides on Everest vacation total (it now stands at 10) it will be a successful vacation.

Same thing last two weeks of August. Predictions had been 5-7 in the first week, moving down to 3-5 in the second. Now ranging from 7-9 in the first week and 5-7 in the second.

It's true that the parks are busier all year, but my understanding was that the scale is already normalized between the lowest and highest crowds, that is 1 does not represent no people, it represents the lowest 10% of the space.

I wonder if there will be a blog post later today explaining.

I assume you guys are referring to Touring Plans (not a subscriber, personally). Did they maybe change their algorithm or scale or something?

Hmmm. Josh doesn't seem to think anything has changed.
Last two weeks of Aug still says 6 to 7 the 3rd week and 3 to 5 the fourth.... Sounds right to me.

I just checked for the first week of January, when we are planning our trip, and it seems to have gone up, as well. For some reason, HS is an 8 almost all week! Even when MK and Epcot are 3/4. After our last trip, though, I decided to take TP's information with a grain of salt and plan for high crowds while hoping for low. Still though, it is frustrating to see such a large bump when people choose those weeks based on what crowds are forecast to be months in advance.

Most of these projections aren't static, and it's a good thing IMHO. As they get more information in, they'll adjust their projections accordingly. For example, as this article explains, TP.com relies at least in part on park hours as part of their algorithm. Disney may adjust park hours, which may result in an adjustment in projected crowd level. As other factors change, that may also cause an adjustment.

Personally, I'd rather they be getting the most accurate crowd projection possible instead of them setting it 12 months in advance and never taking another look at it.

I read this wrong and though it said first week and I responded the marathon maybe. My area has a few days off school at the end of the month...... perhaps people jumping on a long weekend out of school?

I will be following my park choices more in line with Josh, but park hopping to laye EMH since parks close earlier in Dec. I am using TP for their app and the personalized plans i can make to get a rough estimate how much we can get done.
