Crocs - What a Crock!

No, happy to say my feet didn't sweat or smell. And it was ridiculously hot and humid down there. They don't feel rubbery on your feet... I had flip flops though so I didn't do the socks thing.

I purchased the Athens, as well. I am waiting to get them and break them in before my trip begins on July 15! :cool1: I heard that even when it is raining it is not slippery inside the actual shoe - is this true? I also heard they dry very quickly - is this true? It was because of these reasons, I started looking into purchasing a pair in the first place. Now I am anxiously waiting them in the mail! :cheer2:

I tried on the Airwalks from Payless, but they weren't very comfortable. I am a 9.5, so I usually size up with sandals to a 10. With the Airwalks, my toes touched the tip of the shoe. I then tried an 11, but they were HUGE. Does anyone have this problem? (I really liked the tie dye blue they had).

I did just get a pair of Birkenstocks and so far I like them. However, I think at WDW I will just go with tennis shoes.

Im sorry that you had so many problems with the dealer of crocs. they really are great shoes for them to have such bad customer service. i sell shoes at our local von maur, so i see alot of people with problems with there feet. i havent heard of anyone getting blisters until the posts. i would almost wonder if that is a combo of sweat and improper fit. anways, i was going to tell you that you can call any von maur and then will send you product for free. they have free shipping to anywhere in the us. and since theres no von maur near you, then you wouldnt have to pay sells tax either. just an fYI. hope this helps. good luck, to all happy feet. or not so happy!! :wizard:

sorry forgot to mention, the crocs have a special antimicrobial material so there not suppose to absorb sweat! therefore no smell. im not sure if the off brands are made out of this or not but the croc brand is. hope that helps all you smelly feet. lol :dance3:

I saw on this post that several people had problems and got blisters. I am a fairly new Crocs wearer and am breaking them and my feet in for WDW in August so I wore them over Memorial Day when we went camping to Williamsburg, VA's Busch Garden. My feet did sweat a little but I had some body glide in my purse which I applied immediately and I had no further problem. They were great but I was disappointed that my feet sweated but there aren't any shoes that I am have where they don't (only barefoot stops the sweats must be my WV blood!:rotfl2: ). So am certain that I will make certain that I either have socks on or carrying Body Glide.

For those unfamiliar with this product I read about it on the DISboard and it is available at most drug stores, k-mart, walmart and sports equipment stores (I got mine at the Sports Authority.).

I made the big mistake in buying them. Their CS is terrible and I know this will make some folks mad, but I got blisters on the sides of my feet where the Croc logo attaches to the back strap. I never get blisters, but crocs ripped up my feet something awful. I gave the shoes to my teen DD, hoping she could get some wear out of them...guess what??? She also got blisters from them. I won't even give them to the Goodwill. CRAP pure and simple. If you want to try these, I suggest getting a pair of knockoffs at one of the discount shoe stores or even K-Mart.

When I got mine it was still pretty cool here in CO, so I wore them with socks. I'd read that a few people have problems with blisters where the strap rivets are. To make sure it wouldn't be a problem at WDW, I started to wear them around the house without socks. I did feel a tender spot one day, but no redness or blistering. Since I was home, I just took them off for the day (or did I put socks back on? don't remember - just changed the situation). Waited a day and tried them barefoot again for about 2 hours. No problems. So I started wearing them all day barefoot at home. Still had to do socks going outside, but what do you want in CO in Feb?? LOL

PLEASE do not recommend K-Mart or Target knock offs (without trying them first). They are horrible! Airwalks are a decent knock off to recommend from what I hear.

My new discovery - Nothinz. They are hard to find, but they have more arch support than Crocs and they have a cushier heel. They also have more tread. I found some at a local sporting goods store and tried them on. Didn't like the color choices, so I went to shoes.com now that I had my size (a size larger than crocs!) paid with my visa (through a link I found doing a search for coupons for shoe.com) and got them for $22. Great shipping time.
Love the way they feel. Never thought I'd find a shoe I liked more than Crocs - especially for less money!!!
I tried one Nothinz on and one Crocs on at the same time and I couldn't believe how flat the Crocs felt. The Nothinz shoe is the answer for those who like Crocs but need more arch support. They are also a little narrower. Not quite as 'funny' looking. OK - who am I trying to kid - they all look funny! :rotfl2:

I ordered my Crocs from Zappos and had them 3 days later -- without paying for express shipping. I have also seen them in the local Dick's and most Hallmark stores. I bought a pair of the Airwalk's (shoe style not sandal or clog - the Croc brand is $59.99 and I paid $19.99) that I could wear to work and wore them for the first time yesterday -- they were wonderful.
Iv'e never seen them over $30 for the basic brand here. And thats at the Crocs store at the Mall Of America.

I think WantToGoNow may have been referring to this model. It lists on the Crocs site at $49.99 (so $59.99 is still high) Airwalks does have a similar model.

I still like my new Nothinz better...and I really never thought I'd say I liked anything better than Crocs for comfort! I did notice there is a new shoe on the Crocs site that may draw me back in - I'll have to try it in person to compare. It's called the Cloud and the description says

"introducing our crocs rx diabetic shoe. specifically designed with the diabetic foot in mind. ideal for ultra-sensitive feet, impaired circulation, impaired sensation. design features: protective toe cap, elevated heel rim and super soft foot bed"

As well as another one that doesn't have the big toe cap (which doesn't help the appearance of these crazy things. called "Relief"

"introducing the crocs rx relief. ultra soft sole provides a cushioning effect for plantar pain, heel pain, metatarsalgia, and generally achy feet; wide toe box is ideal for many post-op conditions, as well as, bunions."

Me too. The Payless brand apparently runs small, so had to go up a half size. The shoes seemed comfortable enough, but (insert Donald Duck voice here) "Boy oh Boy, they looked like duck feet, size 14."

At least I got my daily laugh out of trying them on!

I have two knock off pairs, one from walmart and another from fred's (a smaller type walmart). They are both great and each were under $10. I wear them all the time with no problem. DH loves his. DS can't wear his though without socks, where the strap is hooked on whatever that piece is made of eats right through his foot. It is the oddest thing. He is 3 and loved them. We all actually went down a size in the ones from walmart so sounds you just gotta try them on.

DH loved them so much he went to get a real pair of crocs and after trying them on decided his walmart pair was just as good and left it at what he has. I think shoes are different for everyone! Enjoy whatever you have. I LOVE mine!

I agree about the blisters! My three year old son got blisters exactly in the same place.
It was his birthday party on Sat. and by night time he kept complaining about his "ouchy" on his feet.I took off his Crocs and there were two blisters on each foot just where the plastic round thing sits on the strap!
I'm questioning the shoe too now after seeing that!!
Thanks for sharing.

Where is the kiosk with the crocs at the Orlando airport? What terminal?
Anyone know?

Love my crocs!

i have a pair of the Airwalks from Payless. I have been wearing them for about two months. I have two " complaints " about them.

1. My feet do sweat in them and they get black on the bottom ( yes the shoes are black)
2. THEY SQUEAK!!!!!!! what is up with that? :confused3 :rotfl2:

when i walk the left shoe squeaks. My dear brother asked me from across the yard why my shoes were squeaking. I just told him i was getting old. But if he can hear me across the yard! How can i possibly wear them to WDW in sept?

I have sprinkled powder inside the shoes, but that did stay for long. Any tips?

It isn't a kiosk but a store. It is in the main terminal in the A hallway near the food court.

I Also had a problem with Crocs online store. I bought 3 pairs and later DH decided he wanted a pair too. So I called to see if I could add a pair to get free S&H but waited on hold for 2 hours. The direct line told me I had a 19 minute wait but it was more like 130 minutes :furious: and I was Furious by then. Anyway I never talked to a person after all that waiting. I went online and Emailed as well as leaving a message on the voicemail and no one responded. Three days later my order still hasn't shipped so I called back and finally got a person and told him to cancel both orders. I asked for a cancelation # and he said he would email it to me. Still have not recieved and email and it looks like my order is still pending. This has made me want to switch to Teva's for the whole family. I finally ordered them from No Fear Gear and hopefully I won't have to call back Crocs Customer service again but I was freaking out last time after that long wait for nothing. I"m done now! :goodvibes

The same thing happens with my 6yo DS! I am thinking that maybe they are too small, even though they look like they fit. Crocs are supposed to be big. I'm wondering if a bigger size will help. I hate to spend $30 on another pair when I JUST bought these. Ugh. He loves them though.

Honestly... it just sounds like the results of cheap knockoffs to me. My DH wears black Crocs and his feet have never been black after ward. Neither of us have ever heard squeaking coming from our Crocs, either.

Don't know about Airwalks, but my Crock (Black) and my Nothinz (dark blue) do not discolor my feet - nor do they squeak.

I really liked my crocs except for my foot sliding around on th einside ofthe shoe. I was in Disney during tropical storm Alberto but we decided to go to the parks dispite of the down pours. I found that it was very uncomfortable when they got wet and since they are wide there is alot of room for movement.
