I came to get a recipe for pulled pork.
Okay, so I went with a pulled pork recipe I found elsewhere. Here's what's cooking right now. I got this from about.com-southern food. I modified it-see below.
Ingredients:
* 1 boneless pork shoulder roast, about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds
( I used 2 small pork tenderloins)
* 1 cup chopped onion
( I used one half large onion-chopped large)
* 1 bottle (12 ounces) barbecue sauce, your favorite
(I used a little less-saved for the sandwich and added some ketchup and vinegar)EDITED-I would leave out the vinegar.
* 3 to 4 tablespoons honey, or to taste
* dash hot pepper
* 1/3 c. brown sugar-ADDED AFTER TASTING IT
* sandwich rolls
* coleslaw, optional
Preparation:
Place pork roast in a lightly greased 3 1/2 to 5-quart slow cooker. Combine onion, barbecue sauce, honey, and hot pepper; pour over roast. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 7 to 9 hours. Serve on buns, topped with slaw, if desired.
My method-
Okay so I modified the above ingredients. I used 2 small pork tenderloins. Sorry the package doesn't have the weight on it.
I browned the 2 tenderloins and then quickly browned the onions as well. I put the onions in first then put the pork on top. I put the BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Rays) in a large measuring cup. Squeezed in a little honey. Small splash of tabasco. Added some ketchup and splash of vinegar to make more sauce and then warmed it in the micro for about 2 mins. Poured the sauce on top and turned the slow cooker down to low (started it on high). I added a few Tbsp. of water as well.
Smells really good in here right now with the smell of seared pork and onions. I check the sauce in a few hours and if it needs additional sweetness I will add some brown sugar.
We have softball practice tonite so this will be a quick supper to eat after.

I'll report back on how it was.
