Crockpot Recipes

I made this last night and my family loved it! I increased ours to about 4lbs chicken breast the entire packet of italian and the whole jar of peppercini's.........no leftovers though-just too good!

I'm glad your family enjoyed it! I couldn't believe how good it turned out the first time around as well. I thought it tasted just like the Chix taco salad from a restaurant nearby. Just cheaper and darn tootin easy! :thumbsup2

I had this at a Chirstmas party and just loved it so much, I make it for my family at least once a month. :goodvibes

2 Packages of Smoked Kielbasa ( I use Hillshire)

3 or 4 apples cut up into chunks or sliced

1 cup of brown sugar

Thats it, put it in the crockpot and cook for about 4 hours on high or 6 on low.

Do not add water or any liquid, the sausage and apples make plenty of gravy.

My family absolutely love this.

Here's one I saw today on Martha Stewart with guest Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon's Crock Pot Chili
Ingredients Serves 8

2 tablespoons olive oil
3 1/2 pounds ground chuck beef, ground for chili
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
1 large white onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/2 habanero chile, seeded and very finely chopped (I might leave this out to keep it milder)
1/4 cup chile powder
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes, coarsely chopped with their juices
1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro, plus more for serving
1 (12-ounce) bottle amber beer
2 (15-ounce) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Tortilla chips, for serving
Shredded cheddar cheese, for serving
Chopped tomatoes, for serving
Sour cream, for serving
Lime wedges, for serving
Directions
1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Working in batches if necessary, add beef and cook until no longer pink, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper; drain in a colander, discarding fat, and set aside.
2. Add remaining tablespoon olive oil to skillet and reduce heat to medium. Add onions, garlic, and habanero; season with salt. Cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. In a 6-quart Crock-Pot, combine beef, onion mixture, chile powder, oregano, cumin, and cayenne pepper; stir to combine. Add tomatoes, cilantro, and beer; cover and cook on high, stirring occasionally, for 5 hours.
4. Add kidney beans and season with salt and pepper. Continue to cook, uncovered, until thickened, about 30 minutes. Garnish with cilantro and serve with desired toppings.

Total cooking time 5.5. hours (min.) plus prep. This looks good-it's too late to make today, maybe I'll make it on Wed.-DD9 has softball practice 5-7 those nights.

Apologies if this a repeat - I did skim the link that compiled recipes (thanks btw) and only saw meatballs in tomato sauce.

Tonight I am making our families favorite crockpot meatballs.

4 hours in the crockpot on high (stir once every hour or so if you can)

I use bag of frozen meatballs from Sam's Club, if you make fresh you won't need 4 hours to cook.

Place meatballs in bottom of the crockpot.
Cover with 1 jar of Chili Sauce and 1 can of Cranberry Sauce

That's it - they are tangy but not spicy (I am a spicy wimp)

Just wanted everyone to know that I tried the barbecue chicken recipe and it was a success! I used frozen chicken drumsticks and it worked out so well!

I added your recipe to the list. I called them Meatballs (tangy BBQ). I love Sam's meatballs-we use them alot. One thing I do (not crockpot) is use them along with Ikeas gravy (for meatballs) so good, esp. with cranberry or lingonberry. :goodvibes

Thanks lttlmc3 for the review. :thumbsup2

Just bumping this up-there are alot of great recipes here. Check out list on page 13, post 192 http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=28293404&postcount=192 maybe you'll find something to make tonite :)

I came to get a recipe for pulled pork.

Okay, so I went with a pulled pork recipe I found elsewhere. Here's what's cooking right now. I got this from about.com-southern food. I modified it-see below.

Ingredients:

* 1 boneless pork shoulder roast, about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds ( I used 2 small pork tenderloins)
* 1 cup chopped onion ( I used one half large onion-chopped large)
* 1 bottle (12 ounces) barbecue sauce, your favorite (I used a little less-saved for the sandwich and added some ketchup and vinegar)EDITED-I would leave out the vinegar.
* 3 to 4 tablespoons honey, or to taste
* dash hot pepper
* 1/3 c. brown sugar-ADDED AFTER TASTING IT
* sandwich rolls
* coleslaw, optional

Preparation:
Place pork roast in a lightly greased 3 1/2 to 5-quart slow cooker. Combine onion, barbecue sauce, honey, and hot pepper; pour over roast. Cover and cook on LOW setting for 7 to 9 hours. Serve on buns, topped with slaw, if desired.

My method-
Okay so I modified the above ingredients. I used 2 small pork tenderloins. Sorry the package doesn't have the weight on it.

I browned the 2 tenderloins and then quickly browned the onions as well. I put the onions in first then put the pork on top. I put the BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Rays) in a large measuring cup. Squeezed in a little honey. Small splash of tabasco. Added some ketchup and splash of vinegar to make more sauce and then warmed it in the micro for about 2 mins. Poured the sauce on top and turned the slow cooker down to low (started it on high). I added a few Tbsp. of water as well.

Smells really good in here right now with the smell of seared pork and onions. I check the sauce in a few hours and if it needs additional sweetness I will add some brown sugar.

We have softball practice tonite so this will be a quick supper to eat after. :goodvibes I'll report back on how it was.

Okay, so I made the pulled pork 2 posts up. I came out well. :goodvibesI did taste it before it was finished and added about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of brown sugar. I like my pulled pork more sweet than tart.

We have a lot of leftovers and could have done with only one of the pork tenderloins. Only 2 adults eating it. We'll probably have it again tonite, after softball practice.

I also made some quick coleslaw to top it with. And added a few dill pickle slices. Delish!:cool1:

I can always use some more recipes, this is a great thread.

I'd like to add Taste of Home's 'Sweet and Tangy Pot Roast' to the list, I was never able to make a good one before but this recipe has made it a family favorite.

I made a yummy pork roast in the crockpot today.

Pork roast
Chicken broth
Lipton onion soup mix
Potatoes
Carrots
Pepper & garlic powder

This was so tender!

This is a great recipe for fall & winter. Hubby & kids love it!

1-Pork Loin roast
1-apple juice (store brand is fine)
1-Pork Rub (Grill Mates by McCormick's is great)

Night before: Pierce loin several times with fork. Put in gallon size zip lock bag coat with pork rub. Shake in bag to coat well. Refrigerate overnight.

In the AM: Put loin in crock pot, cover with apple juice. Cook on LOW all day (6 hours). Pull apart with fork & serve with favorite BBQ sauce. YUM-O!

Enjoy!
