Cricut Expression....Need help

DH went to Walmart on Thanksgiving and bought me the Cricut Expression as a surprise Christmas gift. I've got an old Cricut I have had for what seems like about ten years. I have several cartridges for my old Cricut, which still works.

Honestly, I don't know the first thing about the Cricut Expression. Do my cartridges work with it? Or is it all through a computer and those would be useless? I am hesitant to keep it because I'm sure it was more than he should have spent, but I know my old one is probably about ready to quit since sometimes it gives me problems. The thought of having to learn a whole new way of using Cricut doesn't excite me either.

Would you keep it?

Yes, all the cartridges work with the cricut expression. Do you have the original cricut expression or the E2? The E is just allows a little more size cutting for your cuts verses the original (baby bug)...

The E2 will allow you do some more creative things with the craftroom which is their software program on their website that allows you to create more items by combining more than one cartridge to be used at one time...

I love my E2.. I still have my E and my DD has the create down at college and she uses it often.

I use my machine daily... just remember with the E or the E2.. you are limited to the cartridges...

Thanks for the reply. I have the Original Cricut, from way back when.

I just didn't want to keep the new Expression if the cartridges didn't work with it. I have a bunch of those things! From the picture on the box, I couldn't see where the cartridges went and I didn't want to open it and then be unable to return it if I needed to.

Getting more pages done this year is one of my goals, so I need to get to work on it!

Kudos to your DH. What a great surprise.

All of the CE1 cartridges work with the CE2. The best part is that you don't have to take the overlays off and on as they will come up on the computer screen. If you have a Gypsy or Juke box for cartridges this makes going back and forth between cartridges a snap.

One of the best features of the CE2 is the ability to create multiple pages. You basically then preload the mats with your selected paper and go. This makes making banners and such a snap.

I could go on and on about the features of the CE2.

Work with it for a couple of hours. It's super easy to learn. My guess is that you'll keep it.
