Crazy to Just Bring Carry On to Disney?

We always travel light - so yes, I think you could do it!

For a three day/weekend trip, we just take backpacks (personal item - no charge). For our weeklong trips, you could pack light weight layers (dri-fit stuff is great) enough for 4 days, and do laundry once (all of the on-site laundry rooms are super convenient). We each wear our tennies, and pack a pair of sandals in the bottom of our personal item/backpack. 4-5 pairs each of socks and undies, four shorts, five shirts, and pjs. We each put another outfit and swimsuit in our backpacks. Sometimes we wear a light jacket. Toiletry bag goes in my backpack; kiddos have a large snack bag each. It is SO nice to not have to worry about lost bags or wait for baggage to unload.

You can also Uber to the store - or this trip we used Doordash for several meals, and noticed they also deliver from several stores where you could get toiletry items. We also order water, snacks, and other items from Amazon Now or Instacart, so I think you could easily have everything you need. Most things, including sunscreen, come in sample sizes too. Happy packing!

Reading all of this and hearing/reading everything in the news, it sounds like all doom with check-in luggage. Can anyone actually share good experiences?

I'm actually starting to be swayed to Team carry-on for our trip to Aulani. I am still hesitant because we'll be gone for 9 nights (10 when returning overnight) and I can't image having things shipped there cheaply or buying things we need. I have specific non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic sunscreen that I know I cannot purchase while there and this would be only thing I can think of that we absolutely need to check in.

I don't think they have the travel sized items in the resort rooms anymore. They have those wall-mounted things.
I saw a video posted on Instagram of a recent stay at our resort and apparently they haven’t switched to the wall mounted dispensers, yet. I hope its true since I love H20+ products and we can’t even order online since they won’t even ship to Canada.

We had a great experience checking a suitcase flying out of the Detroit airport to Orlando (took 2 hours to cross the border at Sarnia though). It took 15 minutes to go through security in Detroit and then we waited a whole 5 minutes for the suitcase at MCO.

We flew out of Buffalo late May and had no issues as well.

I guess my question is specifically for Canadian airports, particularly those that have been having baggage issues lately.

Lol....never noticed they are called Mousekeeping.
And yeah....agree with the packing....can re-wear shorts but extra tshirts/tanks. Perfect...I have feet issues and just bought a new pair of sandals too for vairety (and concerned my current ones are so old so wearing out). Good thing I have small feet...lol...so shouldn't take up much space.

Definitely gonna look into make up wipes. I don't wear much but do wear a bit of eye liner.

One item to confirm....I think someone said that the resorts sell sunscreen, right?

Such great advice on here....and seems like we are not alone in our thinking.
The resorts sell sunscreen. I’ve seen two reports of them selling out in the past but they had plenty in early July. I was a little surprised by the price. This is at a Disney resort. 89D1B4FA-0D00-42A7-AE26-7DD79B3F92DD.jpeg

I’m not sure if the Contemporary has wall mounted dispensers yet but the dedicated thread will know for sure, and either way mousekeeping will bring you more of whatever you run out of.

I was at my parents house yesterday after reading/commenting in this thread and ironically my mother had already practiced packing for our Nov/Dec trip with her carry-on bag LOL They said they were just doing carry on for this trip.
Off topic: We are going Nov 27-Dec 4. Historically speaking, will the weather be warm enough to be able to wear shorts that week?

Yikes...but not surprised that they mark up the prices.

Silly question as I in the past, I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner (never did carry on before).... If wall mounted, does that mean it's cheap shampoo (and no conditioner) vs the good Disney brand?

It’s the same product as far as I can tell. It was pretty good. It just comes from the wall dispenser instead of a tube. There is shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Can we pack dry cereal in our carry-on going to the US? Does it have to be in its original, sealed packaging or can I put it in a ziplock bag?

I really don't know if there is a rule regarding this flying from Canada to the US, but I have flown with dry cereal all the time and have never had any issues. Even flying out of the US to a different country such as Germany.

I was just curious if I had to bring it sealed in it's original packaging. We plan on eating breakfast in our room to save time in the mornings.

With carry ons now almost everyone is trying to do this so they are asking/pickimg people to gate check their luagge because there is not enough room.

Can we pack dry cereal in our carry-on going to the US?
I did this for many years without problem as preferred a healthier, cheaper and faster option for breakfast in the room. But then stopped for a random search when driving across the border and the US border guard lectured me for bringing in dry cereal 'food' in my luggage. I switched to granola bars and no issues. I guess commercial granola bars considered candy or snacks and not 'food'. One US customs agent at YYZ told me no problem with granola bars. He had asked me to disclose all food I was bringing through even down to what protein was in my sandwich for the flight.

Always best to check the forecast on accuweather the week before. I've traveled early Nov and I was fine with capris but chilly in the evening and needed a lightweight sweater. Know only the Cdns were swimming in the pools. Maybe bring a pair of light travel pants that you can roll up the legs for the afternoon as a back up.

We have been this time of year several times. Once we wore shorts all week. Once we wore pants and were very comfortable with a light sweater at night. Once we wore shorts a couple of days, but a couple of evenings I had on pants and a light down alternative jacket. It is best to check the weather right before you go, but also be aware of how late you'll be in the parks. The nights that I needed the jacket, we were in the parks until midnight or later, and the low was 50 degrees. If we had left at around 9pm, I might not have needed it. I tend to bring easily packable layers - t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, jacket that stows in a pocket, etc.
