Selena, it really sounds like your Mom is a lot like mine. She loves to talk about me. I don't get that, I couldn't imagine bad talking my daughter. My brother is older and when I was in my 20s she would complain to him all the time and he would call and try to be my Dad and tell me off. Now pretty much I only speak to my brother at funerals, he doesn't speak to my Mom and I haven't spoken to her since the hurricane. And, I don't like going around her family too because she will talk bad about me right in front of me on the phone with them. That is why we got in the fight after the hurricane, she just kept talking about me and I was hearing her and I finally blew up after a day of listening. I was only at her house because she didn't want to be alone during the hurricane. I could have been in a hotel where there was actually power and been comfortable. So, we finally left and I haven't spoken to her since. She does still like to have a relationship with Aerial but Aerial told me that she told her please don't turn out like me. I am such a horrible person. Oh well, that's life. Aerial tells me she will never have that kind of relationship with me, we are very close.

Okay enough of that LOL I am leaving in less then 48 hours. I just added my extra pair of jeans to my suitcase and weighed it LOL. :rotfl2: It weighs 41 pounds so I am good.

Marcie I think they were seperated at birth. :rotfl2: I hate it when my mom talks bad about me to my kids. I am just glad my kids understand that she is nuts. She does not have a clue they donot care for her much. I had planned to go in a half day today because my mom was coming but Mac begged menot to leave her alone with her Mi Mi. That is what she is called....prounced me me....I think it is perfect for her because it is all about her!!

I am so excited for you. I hope you have a blast...

Do you have the Lysol spray packed?? I always take a can to spray the room down with. You know all the places you touch that is never cleaned....remotes, telephone, light switches...etc

I have been looking for a smaller can of lyesol. Dane just told me he's going to buy us a can tomorrow. He's taking a half of day off to go get the last few things we need. Thanks for reminding me. Okay I'm off to try out this Chi LOL

Okay I have a question. Does the room outlet have 3 prong holes? I want to bring a power strip but the plug is 3 prongs.

Hi ladies!!!

Well, I am glad to see we're all chatting! I just made my grocery list for Thanksgiving. My mom, dad, Aunt and me all cook, so we all buy what we need to make our stuff. This year I'm making pumpkin pie from scratch, like raw pumpkin and crust from scratch- I do it every year for my boyfriend - for the past three years. I"m also making Pumpkin Corn Bisque with Jalapeno Pesto, cranberry sauce from scratch, a Weight Watchers Pear Crostada for me, and green bean casserole. My mom does all the other desserts, and appetizers, while my dad controls all the other sides and the Birds (yes, we have TWO!) My three brothers, their wives, including my sister in law Maleficent :maleficen and kids and my aunt, uncle and cousin will be there.

Chis are apparently the best! My hairdresser friend in Arkansas says that's the only thing he uses! Good luck though! It's a talent!

Marcie- I loved that *funniest comments* thread. My fave was where the kid was picking out Toy Story toys and he finally decides on what he wants and he tells his mom "I want a little Buzz and a big Woody." hahahahah!

And don't feel bad about feeling cold at 58 degrees- I am the same way and I live in New Jersey!!!!! I am a *big* crab in the cold! I have tons of sweaters and sweatshirts and big, thick socks. When I was thinner, I used to wear sweatpants under my jeans. Now, that would make me look like the State Puff Marshmallow Man so I don't do that anymore!

I hope you have the BEST time!

I have 39 days left!!! Yes!

Selena, don't let anyone guilt/pressure you. You have to trust yourself in all things and do what you think is best. No one should try to control you and say you're wrong if you do not do what they want. It's sad when family has struggles like this, but everyone's has them. For example, I cannot stand my one sister in law. I even had a thread about it awhile back, "Does anyone else hate their sister in law" haha A little harsh but it fit. She's very catty and bossy and always has a comment. On everything- from "what smells? you cooking something?" to "Isn't that wall color a little bright" to "aren't you a little too old for Disney" its all nastiness. What's worse is how she ignores her 2 year old son and doesn't treat him well. She doesnt' abuse him or anything, but she just doesn't talk to him or play with him much. She takes him shopping and tries to *teach* aka force him to say lines she thinks are cute, funny, smart, etc. She ridicules me when I'm grading or if I mention something about teaching or college because she thinks that she didn't need college and writing essays, etc, isn't important. Wait until her son is a senior in high school.

Well, here are some more drink recipes! I will need them! haha!

Evil Princess (haven't tried it but love the name!)

Ingredients
1 oz Grenadine
2 oz Grape Juice
1 oz Apple Juice
1 tbsp Vanilla Syrup
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Mixing Instruction
Pour over ice, stir and garnish with a lime slice.

Butterscotch Truffle Martini ( I Loooove this)

Ingredients:
2 oz. Vodka
1 oz. Butterscotch Schnapps
Splash of Creme de Cacao

Instructions:
Blend with ice and serve in a chilled glass.....DECADENT! It tastes just like a butterscotch truffle.

Candy Cane (Complex, but I want to try it!)

Ingredients:
2 oz. Rum
1 oz. Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
1 oz. Pina Colada Mix
Dash of Peppermint Schnapps

Instructions:
Divide the rum in two shot glass. Add the strawberry mix to one shot glass filled with rum, and the pina colada mix to the other glass filled with rum. Take a double shot glass and use a piece of metal or wood to separate the glass into two sections. Fill one side with the strawberry daiquiri, and the other side with the pina colada. Use the metal divider to swirl them together. Float the peppermint schnapps on top.

Chocolate Martini (this is my recipe, it's great! just sip it though, lol)
Ingredients:
1 oz. Godiva chocolate liqueur
1 oz. Stoli vanilla vodka
Pour into shaker with lots of ice.
Add a swirl ( like 2-3 tablespoons) of chocolate syrup- I like Hershey's Special Dark. Shake it up really well so chocolate syrup gets mixed in. Strain into a cocktail glass. You could make it fancier by rimming the glasses or adding a chocolate swizzle stick candy. Sometimes I'll add cherries, too. (and a little juice from the jar to the mix) for a chocolate covered cherry martini.

Anyone else here an eggnog fan? I've never liked the heavy homemade kind, but I *love* the Axelrod Farms Light Eggnog- sometimes I'll add a little rum, too.

Oh my Lulu, those recipes sound yummy. It is only 6:30 in the morning but I would love to start in and sample a few of those. :rotfl2:

Relatives, :confused3 can't live with them and can't live without them. I am thankful that my mom was the best. My dad used to beat her and us kids so as a childI went through a lot. I was able as an adult to have a very good relationship with him. I didn't forgive him but just "moved on". I have 2 sisters that live in lala land. My brother and I are close. His wife is kind of strange but we get a long real good. She always competes with me especially in cooking.

Cold......I would much rather be cold than HOT!! Today the high will be 42 and that will be 11:00 and then we are to get more snow.

Thanks guys for reminding me to straighten my hair yesterday. I would look a bit frightful this morning if it wasn't for the chi talk. Guess I will have to check those out. I just need a little :wizard: to change my looks. I would be a bit bigger on top and straight hair. Not asking for too much am I? :rotfl:

Am I an eggnog fan? You betcha! Mmmmmm, brings back memories as a kid. Heidi's twin loves it too.

Marcie, I am almost sure that it is a two prong outlet but can't swear by it. Gosh you are just about ready for that vacation. I am soooooo excited :Pinkbounc for you.

Wow, I am gone for a day doing flu shots and this chatty group went through 2 1/2 pages that I had to read!!!

LuLu - Those recipes sound so yummy!! I guess I need to stop at the liquor store again!!!!

I usually love the cold, but am not to pleased with it this year. It is nice to have a garage now so I won't have to scrape my windows or brush off the snow, but now I need 4wd to back out of my garage due to the ice that hasn't melted yet!!!!!

Marcie - I can't remember if the plug is 2 or 3 prong. Don't forget about the "hidden" plug behind the TV. Just think today is your last day to work!!!!

I can't believe your moms talk bad about you in front of your kids, that is so mean and wrong. Atleast the kids understand. I am very thankful I get along well with my mom.

Well it is time for me to fly to Marcie's house to sneak into her suitcase, so I will talk to you all when we get back. ;)

Wait for me Heidi. Pick me up and we BOTH can go. :Pinkbounc

How in the heck am I supposed to work today?? :rotfl2: I have a million things on my mind. It's a really good thing I don't have much to do.

Lulu I am so glad you wrote yesterday, now I feel complete. All my funky monkeys have told me to have fun. :goodvibes

Thank you for the reminder of the hidden plug Heidi. If it's just 2 prong outlets I will just have to swap out chargers.

The Chi worked beautifully. Her hair still looked so good this morning she decided to leave it down instead of put it in a ponytail. She just brought a band to put it up for the game today. I know I'm going to end up buying one after this trip. LOL.

I need one of those drinks that Lulu gave us the recipe for.

I wish I could bring you all in my suitcase. If we all cruised together we would have sooo much fun.

Marcie, do they really expect too much from you today at work? Doubt it. What's the matter, low concentration, mind wandering, dreaming of vacation?? Excitement? Hmmmm, wish it was me!!

Love the eggnog latte from Starbucks, but I can't start drinking them until after Thanksgiving. Its bad enough with all of the Christmas commercials on TV!
I like the Lucerne eggnog from Safeway but my MIL buys me some every year from Royal Crest that is so thick you practically need a spoon. Need to water that down with some rum...or some Southern Comfort.

No the caramel apple cider is so much better!!!!!

Ugh oh we have a southern comfort drinker here!!!!! Gotta watch out for them!!

I don't too much care for eggnog. I've been drinking the pumpkin spice frappucino at Starbucks. After Thanksgiving I want to try the gingerbread latte.

I've actually been kind of busy today at work. It's winding down though. :cool1:

Wow it was REALLY snowing alot about an hour ago, and it is still continueing!!!!

It only snows here about once every 15 years, and if it does it's usually not until around February. Last year, by some kind of miracle it snowed on Christmas Eve while I was at my Dad's for our last Christmas together. :flower: What an magical memory I have of that day.

My supervisor called our group for a short meeting and she announced she has a new job. Her last day will be January 6th. Her position is Chief of Staff and Classification and she is currently acting for our Human Resources Officer because the Officer is on detail to Washington DC. Our Human Resources Director retired over a year ago, so that means all 3 supervisor positions are empty. What do you do with No supervisors!!!???? I think it is going to be a rough few months to come.

That is really cool. What a memory!

Heidi, apply to be a supervisor!!

I am not sure if I will be able to wish Marcie a happy vacation before she leaves so I am doing it now!!!

Marcie, HAVE A GREAT WONDERFUL LAND/SEA VACATION. We will be thinking of you and missing you. HAVE A BLAST, and try a BBC drink on the ship!!!! Say Hi to Mickey for all of us. :Pinkbounc :cool1: :flower:

WOOHOO, you made it through the work week!!!

MIC....see you real soon, KEY....why because we like you, MOUSE!!!!!!
