I am making a project for my niece's wedding gift. They love Scrabble, so I knew I wanted to do something with that. I found this memo board at Hobby Lobby half price:

And I have filled it like so:
I need to glue the pieces down. The center section that I am gluing to is stiff and a bit rough- burlap with paint. You can see it on the Hobby Lobby link. Should I use a hot glue gun, or some other type of craft glue? I don't want any stringy hot glue showing, and I worry about pieces coming loose. I think I used to use something like Aleen's Tacky Glue on projects. What do you think would work best?
