How exciting to see your name on the sign for the tasting!

I really know what you mean about the popularity contest thing but I think you gave yourself the best advice. The people that were there for you are the ones that matter. I would give a million fairweather friends for one true one. I'm glad you're no longer inviting them. They are very obviously not worthy of being part of the special group that will attend your wedding!

P.S. I just noticed that you're getting married on my birthday! Lol.

Alrighty so here a few snapshots from the bridal shower...once we have changed out of our dresses the sillyness really began...

And that was the day of the bridal shower.

Well, we got our BEO from Carol but it's only her section; we are still waiting on the floral BEO which Laura said she'd get to us early last week.... :confused3 I emailed her Friday about it and no reply yet. Our budget is $30,000; we are over by about $4,000 with just Carol's section of the BEO...almost $2,000 is in Champagne and Sparkling cider...RIDICULOUS! We are removing that and will have one bottle of champagne for the bridal party. Sorry but that's way too much money to spend on something people will take on sip of. Anyone else run across this? What did you do?
I will put the BEO when the entire thing arrives. Hope it's not too much over budget.

Thanks for reading! xoxo -Court-

Thanks for the encouragement! I know it's kinda silly to say I won't invote somene b/c they didn't show up to my shower...and really that's not the case. It's simply b/c they are fairweather friends as you mentioned. I'm lucky to have the girls I do have in my life. And boys lol.

How exciting that your bday and our wedding is the same day! Double party time. My bday is October 22! OCTOBER BABIES! :thumbsup2

I saw your bridal party pictures on FB! Looks like you had a blast!! I'm sorry some "friends" didn't show up-- I never understand people sometimes!

I know what you mean about worrying about who will be there and who won't. Sometimes I really upset myself but you need to remember that at the end of the day this is just about you and hubby!!

Love the food porn! YUM!

Oh cool, really? How did you see it on FB? Have I added you? Am I going crazy lol? My friend Jessica was positing some slightly innapropriate pics (nothing too wild though) and I had to change my settings lol.

You are soooo right. It's about B and me and that's what is important. I get way too stressed over things. I need a therapist. :scared1: xoxo. ;)

Cut away at your guest list. If they can't even find time to come to your shower when they have no legitimate excuse then they shouldn't expect a wedding invite.

Mmm that food looks so good.

Wow... i love reading lots of posts!!!

more so posts with pictures!!! Your hen party looks fab!!! love the tissue dresses!!!

also... your food tasting looked amazing! :)

cant wait to see more!!!

xxxx

I think you are right... But you know, it's more important to focus on the good than the bad.

Doesn't the food look so good? I have dreamed about the orzo ever since we left lol.

BTW, I just have to say that I laugh every time I read your comment at the end of your signature: "my life sucks...no trips planned"....I know how you feel. Not laughing b/c it sucks but laughing because it's SOOOO true.

Fay! I feel like I haven't talked to you in so long. I will try to get more pictures for you. I'm hopping on over to your PJ. xoxo.

Some people are just so rude!! Definitely cut away that guest list. As we all know the per persons cost is not cheap so why waste that money on people who don't even care. I would have been so mad if people did that to me. glad you enjoyed the day though.

Got to love the ridiculous champagne prices. My parents were so shocked and so mad over that lol. We ended up taking some stuff out of our bar packages and getting the champagne included. It added a couple dollars to the price but it was a lot better than what they were asking!!!! I don't know how they can get away with that price. Hopefully your floral does come back to bad. But it is pretty easy to cut some stuff. I know we found there was a lot of stuff in our first beo that we didn't even ask for.

Love the food pictures too :)

Hi Ash! I've miss ya! I almost fainted when I saw the champagne costs...we just decided to keep two bottles and everyone else can toast with whatever else is available lol. How exaclty did you get the champagne included? Maybe we could do that. I am with you, I don't know how they can get away with that. And it's champagne I have never heard of (but then again I am not a big drinker). We got our floral and it isn't too bad: a littl eunder $5,000. I'll be honest, there isn't much I would cut, other than change my bouquet b/c it's a whopping $400 and that's cuhraaazy. Little changes will happen but overall everything came together pretty darn good on the first go-round. :woohoo: Good to hear from you!!! xoxo.

OMG... 6 MONTHS... really not long now! Have you got much left do do? I went for a dress fitting the other day and its so perfect! :) hehe I have posted pics too! :)

Looking forward to your next post!

Hi love!
Your shower looks awesome!! People are just ... ugh. I had one of my friends email me two days before my shower to ask if I minded if she didn't come because it was Palm Sunday................... she married an atheist and got married by a JOP. Now that she wanted out of my shower, she's holyer (sp?) than Jesus. LOL I am being extreme obvioulsy but come on. I wrote her back and told her that honestly I would be lying if I said it was fine and I wouldn't care. She ended up coming AND staying until the end! haha

You're definitely being a good sport by attending another shower with his family, I told my DF I wanted one shower and everyone needed to attend it. But, more shower also means more gifts! ;)

The Champagne- ugh again. We ended up doing a BOC bar, but we arent even offering champagne. We aren't having any champagne at all. We're asking everyone to get a refresh of their drinks for a toast and toasting with existing drinks. I don't think anyone will complain about it. I'll report back in about a month! :) Awesome on your BEO!

We have Laura for floral as well- she is amazing and great to work with, but she does take some time. If you have quick questions, pricing on something etc, email her assistant Jennifer. Jennifer responds quickly with things she can answer. If you have a lot of things you want answered or want immediate answers, email her to set up a phone meeting (usually at least a week away from when you ask to set it up). I always got more accomplished in a 30 minute phone call with her than weeks of emailing. :) She definitely knows her stuff and is super sweet though! On your bouquet- if it's a bouquet you really want, keep it. I talked about mine with Laura too (mine is 325) and I wanted to make the girls' bouquets less (they are 145 each and I have 8 girls). However, the bouquets and mine especially, are in a lot of pictures. She made good sense and I left the bouquets alone. I did change all of our table arrangements which ended up being our real big money items previously. Our floral BEO was over 9k when we started, and now the final version is just under 5K. ;) I have posted my final one if you want to take a look in my PJ! It is very easy for the floral to add up unfortunately! I am using my $325 bouquet as the centerpiece for our sweetheart table, for instance! If I'm paying so much for it, lets put it out for display! hahaha Hopefully this will work well and look great! Clearly we'll know 3 weeks from today! ;)

Everything seems to be coming along great!! Sorry I haven't been by regularly! :goodvibes

Thanks Fay! I am going to hop over and check out the dress fitting. How exciting! Putting on the dress makes it feel so real. I am posting my BEO in a few minutes. I have said that before but I am serious now lol.

Tricia- thank you for so much awesome information. You made me feel a lot better. As for your friend- it is good that she decided to show up. I don't know what it is sometimes, people just want to stay home or do something else??? I dunnno. But it let's you know where you stand. But what's important is that we are getting married to our wonderful men and we are lucky ot have so many great people around us who want to be there. And yes, we will get more gifts if we have another shower, which I am just fine with :rotfl:

I am happy to hear that you chose BOC for the bar. My parents did some figuring and decided that no matter how we swing it, we will save money with BOC as opposed to hosted bar for 4 hours. So many people just don't drink in Brian's family and a lot of our friends don't either.

And OMG I am SO glad to hear about Laura. I was so worried because she takes a while to get back with us. I know when we spoke to her in person at the PS she knew her stuff and was amazing and I keep trying to remember that. Plus she is super sweet. I guess I'll just start having phone conversations with her. I think I get so used to shooting people emails all day and getting a quick response that I forget not everyone is like that. Same thing with Carol: she sometimes takes a little while (although really never very long) but her assistant Sarah is great, she always gets back to me same day.

Thanks again!

I have been meaning to put this up for some time. Laura got us our Floral BEO last week and now we have an idea of how much everything will cost. We will obviously have some changes between now and October, but this is what we are looking at so far. It's not terrible, and that is happy news. I know I have seen some ladies post and say that that floral alone was $10,000. We are right around $5,000 and that's just the first try. Let me know what you think...what we can change, swap, et cetera. Thanks everyone!

Estimated Budget and BEO without Floral (from Carol) for 120 guests:

Wedding Pavilion Usage: $3195.00

Cinderella's Coach: $2850.00

1 Limo: $398.04

Pre-Reception at Boardwalk Inn (120 Guests):

15 bottles aprkiling wine ($37 per bottle): $715.20

5 Non-alcoholic cider ($24 per bottle): $154.64

Package bar, beer, wine, and specialty drink: $4793.78

4 soft drinks and bottled water package (4 hrs): $105.67

Catering and Food:

Children's meal (4 at $26.50): $136.60

Dinner buffett (116 people based on Modified Glass Coach $115 per person): $17,190.59

2 Vendor meals (at $26.50 each): $68.30

Wedding Cake Handling Fee: $219.18

Groom's Cake Handling Fee: $26.84

Resort Event Guide (not sure what this is): $300.00

DJ: $1750.00

Outdoor Marquee: $200.00

Wedding Cake: $1043.70

White Chocolate Castle Cake Topper: $106.50

Groom's Cake: $127.80

Total: $33,381.84

That puts us at $3,381.84 over budget with just the ceremony and reception. Obviously 120 people are not going to come, so the food will be much cheaper: I am guessing we will probably shave about $1500-$2000 AT LEAST from the food total. We are also cutting the sparkling wine and champagne out which will save us about $700. The bar is now going to be BOC (bill on consumption). We did some figuring and there is no way we will spend $4793.78 on BOC...that will shave about $2000 off. So, with those changes alone it looks like we can subtract about $4,700 from that total, maybe more if less people show up.

And now for the floral:

FINAL TOTAL: $4,480.67

As of now I can't think of anything I want to take away. In fact, I wanted all of the tables covered b/c I thought it would look nicer and more fancy. ADH is so big that I feel like it will be hard to make it more romantic and elegant without table coverings on most tables. This could change in order to add other things, like Mickey topiaries, special lighting, different decor. We shall see. But that's where we are with floral.

If we add the regular BEO and Floral we get a grand total of: $37,862.51

We are over by $7,861.51.

I am trying to figure out ways to cut things, and again, we know a lot of people won't be able to make it, saving us a lot on food and catering. But this doesn't even include our engagement party, my dress, invitations, and other things. My dad keeps saying don't worry about it, it will work out in the end. I think he has gone a little crazy. He's a sweet man and I don't want to have he or my mom paying way too much for one day. Although, it is a magical and amazing day. Any suggestions on how to cut some stuff?

Hope this is helpful to you all!

OMG, I voted and I was the 1st person to say no! lol :headache: But I don't think you need a menu card if your having a buffet? See what everyone else thinks?

Hope your well chicken!

I have been searching high and low for the perfect lighting at ADH so the room feels intimate and not GINORMOUS and cold...I love ADH but I want the romantic feel at the wedding and that's tough in a club setting.

Here's a few ideas I like:

I like the blue lighting here, and the blue by the curtains...I don't want a sun but this is an idea:
LightsatADH2.jpg

This is the depth of color I am really going for. Don't know if ADH can get like this...Sarah (Carol's Asst) said they have a lot of great lighting to work with at ADH and can provide "uplighting" if we want:
Lighting-DJ.jpg

We like the ballons on the stage:

wantbaloonsatadh.jpg

Have this somewhere...don't know where at ADH. Any suggestions:
onceuponatimedotheyhavethisforlightupdisplay.jpg

I fell in love with these little floating glass votive holders. They look like bubbles and that totally goes with the Little Mermaid theme:
Floatingbubbles.jpg

I don't remember if I posted these already. We would like them on the smaller tables around the dancefloor. This is one type of centerpiece. We will have candles around it and on other tables we want cylinder vases filled with gel and cermaic fish or filled with water and floating candle.

Centerpiecesstarfish.jpg

updates continued....

Okay..so, I really like these light up gel centerpieces...what do you guys think?:
Tablescape.jpg

This is the cake we decided on when we went to our PS. It would be themed to our LM theme and colors and have a castle on top, sea horses on the bottom somewhere. I love it but I am also not sure it's THE cake. I am confused as to whether we want a more fun cake or something more elegant, more Cinderella like. I want that fairytale cake. Help me out girls! I don't know what to do.
OurCake.jpg

I LOVE this cake, but DF is not thrilled (he is a man, I can understand. But he gets his own cake). I think I might nix the "mad hatter" style altogether though and choose something more classic.

Inlovewiththiscake.jpg

These are close to the final design of our invitations. Denise from Dogwood Blossoms Stationary made them. I was thinking we might add a Mickey head in the crystals that are bubbles (bottom right and left corners) but I don't know if she can do that due to copyright issues. They came out so nice. It's hard to tell but they are a shimmery white (called pearlized pearl) with navy backing and burgundy writing. She also gave us a lot of options for programs and "reserved" and "table cards" but I think we may go with Impressions for those simply because they can use Disney imagery. Anywho, here they are:
OurFinalInvitations.jpg

These are the programs DF and I like. They would of course match our colors and have our theme but we want the Mickey shape because it is the epitome of Disney.

Well I think that's it for now. I know I have been a bit MIA lately. Life has been so stressful these last few months and I have been lazy and burned out. Work is driving me crazy, my boss is a HUGE baby and acts like a little girl sometimes. He throws temper tantrums and yells (like YELLS) at everyone in the office. He's so toxic to be around. I try my best to be nice and positive though. My other boss is really nice and they both like me and my work so that's a plus but being around a a person who is a jerk all day is not fun. To boot, I had my annual review and they referred to me as "phenomenal" and told me how much they like me bla bla bla...and then I asked for a raise, backed it up with research, and showed what I did for them, even though they already admitted I kick butt, and they told me that "we can't afford it right now"...after they spent $7,000 on TVs for show, that have never been turned on. We don't even have people come in to our office...we rarely see our clients. Maybe that $7,000 could have gone to employees to show them you appreciate their work. I just keep thinking about the wedding and my wonderful life outside of work and I smile... Can't bring me down! :grouphug: This was not supposed to be a rant lol....:mic:stepping off soap box now. Sorry bout that.

Aside from that and seperate from wedding planning, I received my first paid baking job for 3 dozen mini cupcakes! I am more than excited and grateful for this opportunity. I have always wanted to be a baker and sell my goods (that sounds weird lol). And now I have the opportunity. I can thank my DF for this. I always bake his office treats and he gives them out. One girl wanted to place an order, and so she did and I am happy to take the job. DF works for a railroad...but he's not like what you'd expect when I say that. He is an Agriculture and Government Customer Service Supervisor and has a 7-4 office job in downtown Atlanta. Anyway, that is besides the point...my point is that his office is HUGE and they network with millions of people and hopefully this will be my opportunity to branch out. Maybe this time next year I will be a MARRIED baker. :stir: and I can blow this posicle stand with the big meanie :crazy2: Life is really wonderful and I can't complain too much. God works in mysterious ways and things tend to work out. I hope all of you are excellent out there and I thank you for reading my exceptionally long posts.

:wave2:Hi there!! Everything looks great!! For the BOC, we figured out the same- our planner basically told us for the package to be a "deal" every guest would need to drink x amount of drinks per hour. We have some big drinkers and some that aren't at all, so hopefully it will balance out! DF's dad paid for the bar- he pre-paid about $4700 but this was a high estimate and we anticipate him getting money back afterwards. I think you can estimate how you want to and pre-pay what you think it will be :) You can also request specific things in your bar if you want them- we are having a specialty drink, Absolut, and Patron (not normally in the bar unless its a really high package). :) Hopefully it will go well!!

I see you posted you want all the tables covered, but good lord girl you are spending over $1,000 on linens alone!! hahaha The only linens we're renting are the napkins, so I guess I shouldn't talk, but white is one of our wedding colors so we are leaving them white and then puting our pops of color on the table- with pink petals down the middle and silver napkins, etc. I honestly think it would be really pretty without spending so much for linens, but it's your wedding! ;) If you get blue lighting , the white linens will also look blue, right? just a thought!

Ugh about work - I have been super stressed too, I'm having a hard time focusing with everything going on with the wedding and all the negativity at work can really start to get to you! hahha Hang in there. YAY for baking!!! I love to bake too, so awesome you could bake all day and not answer to anyone!! :goodvibes (sounds great in my mind!!)

Hey You!

Loving the 'exceptionally large posts' hehe! :) I wrote a largish post on my PJ this evening and it got deleted i think... I haven't been to check yet! lol

Love the lighting from Soundwaves! We are having them for our wedding! Both the DJs Wendy and Lez? and the lighting! I really like the different shades of blue in the photos you showed! :) and agree that without the sunshine!

I really like the under the sea cake, but I think your right, it would look better with the castle on the top - Maybe they have an under water kind of castle? Like an oldy kind of one? you know what I mean?

I love the invites, they are very stylish! What about seeing if dense can find the gems in a mickey shape? and dot them up the side? sort of like bubbles? What do you think.

Fingers crossed for your baker of the month venture! I think its a fab idea to chase your dreams! :) Go for it hun! you'll be on cupcake wars next! hehe

Happy Planning!

Faye

Hello!

Sorry I too have been MIA for a while but I know what you mean with lots to do ...now we have less than 6 months to go!!! :yay:

We loved Carol too but had to wait for Laura's BEO too, we are also cutting off the champagne toast as we thought it was expensive for only 30 guest!

We are also pleased with our floral BEO but need to make some cuts from the main one, need to update my PJ, hopefully I will get chance at the weekend. Takes a long time though as somehow we managed to take 500 photos in our week long trip haha.

Looks like you had lots of fun at your shower, you girls had a blast! Love the dear shots! :rotfl2:

I love the idea of the starfish styled centre pieces as they are so unique and perfect for your theme, also love the glowing gel ones, could you combine the 2 somehow?

Look forward to keeping up to date now!
