couple of questions about motel 6

We are going on a spontaneous trip to Disneyland in two weeks. :scared1: We are trying to keep it as cheap as possible. Motel 6 is the cheapest we can find that is kind of close to the park. I just have a couple of questions for those who have been there.
We stayed at the Anabella last time we went and walked to the park. (the harbor entrance, not through Disneyland Hotel) Is it a further walk than that?
Also, is there a fridge and microwave in the room?
The only other deals we could find under $90 a night was Castle Inn (I read terrible things about it on this board) and and the Hilton (It would be a big step up, but I don't like the distance. And we will have a car, the parking there is expensive!)

We will also be there in 2 weeks, arriving the 21st. We booked thru AAA. Most Motel 6s are super nice for the money. Some have refrigerators/microwaves in the rooms but you can always request one. They will oblige if it's possible. Another rip off is the hotel parking fee. Motel 6 does not charge for parking. That's a plus for us since we drive down from Northern California. I believe Motel 6 is within walking distance but they do offer a free shuttle.

Have a great time and if you see us (we'll be walking our dalmatian), say hi.

I'll be staying at the maingate motel 6 in may :) I'm going down with some girl friends and we're all really tight on cash too. Let me know if you find any other CHEAP hotels in the area! All we really need is something clean and within walking distance to the parks.

I'd love to get some more info about this free shuttle!

If its the one on Disney way, they had just done some renovating, you can request a fridge for I believe it is 5$ per day. I had a friend that just satyed there and it was clean and the staff were friendly. Its walking distance but its also on the ART and its stop is just out side the lobby doors. Have fun.:)

You may want to check out the Anahiem Plaza Hotel. They have fridges, and most have microwaves (just ask). They have upgraded rooms, and some right out of the 1970s. They do charge $4 for parking, but that is a lot cheaper than parking at the Disney lots. It is the closest cheap rooms I have found.

You might check Extendedstayamerica.com on Clementine. I just plugged in March 19 to March 26 at it is $63.99 per night. It has a kitchen with a full size fridge, 2 burner stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, sink, etc.

It's not walking distance to the park really, but it IS walking distance to the Toy Story Lot to ride the free bus without having to pay for parking.

I've stayed at that Motel 6 twice now and it is very clean and updated rooms. The staff was very friendly but there are no microwaves or a mini-fridge included with the room. I'm actually staying at the anaheim plaza right now and I got a room rate of $63.95/night for a 2-queen room with mini fridge and microwave. The hotel is pretty quiet and the staff is very friendly so I would highly recommend checking out the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. Its at Disney Way and Harbor so its definitely within walking distance.

I stayed at Motel 6 Maingate last Oct. It was ok. Better then any other Motel 6 I have seen. Bad things- bring your own towels and wash clothes. They really do have black hairs on everything! I thought it was a joke when I read it on Tripadvisor- but its for real! They have hardwood floors- which is nice- but they were slightly dirty. No real storage space- except the floor. Nicely decorated, the tv is mounted to the wall- and they designed it without a shelf- so forget about brigning a dvd player or gamestation. The Art was right out front the lobby, and if you get their early or to late- if you watch down Manchester- another Art goes to the Residence Inn- if you run fast you can make it to their stop. Have Fun!

We *DD & I* stayed at *this* M6 last July for 2 nights ~ it was fine *the price was great* the park hours were 8am-midnight each day and when those are the park hours we always take a mid day break *when park hours are 10am-8pm we do not take a mid day break* the walk was a little long when doing it twice a day, I wouldn't do more than a few days of that, but I'd have no problem staying there when park hours are shorter.

Maingate is just part of the name--it is called "Motel 6 Main Gate"

The one complaint that I read quite often about the Motel 6 is that since it is one of the few motels near the park that allows pets, there are a lot of barking dogs that tend to like to bark at night while people are sleeping. You also have the issue of cleanliness to deal with. I love dogs (we have a Golden Retreiver that we love beyond all reason), but I don't love the idea that someone else's dog stayed in the same hotel room before me. Your opinion may vary.:goodvibes

Maingate Motel 6 has from being a Motel 6 to Red Roof and now back to Motel 6. Red Roofs are the parent companies next level up from a Motel 6 so it's a bit nicer. Has an indoor lobby with gift shop and elevators. When it was Red Roof they did have rooms with mini-fridges for slightly more but those are no longer listed so not sure.

The hotel itself is much nicer than most other Motel 6's. It is walkable but late at night and being tired I found it a bit far. ART shuttles do have a stop there.

For our trip at the end of this month the Motel 6 is $78. Thats steep. Instead I used Hotwire to book the Radisson Suites near Knotts. Its about 6 miles away from Disneyland but a very fast easy drive. Cost was $70 for a large suite room with microwave and fridge as well as free hot breakfast. We have AP's so parking at Disneyland isn't an issue although the Radisson does have shuttles to Disneyland.

Hotwire and name your own price on priceline are your friend for hotels by Disneyland.

Also, do NOT count on the ART shuttles, they are notorious for not running as late as they say they will. Not waiting for people, etc.
