Might seem cold, but whining about safety rules won't change them, nor should it. If the need for these rules is temporary, they will surely by relaxed by next Halloween. Come back - one year.

Not wearing costumes will not make you safer. If someone is hell-bent on doing something they will.

I think it will effect the parties more then they realise, since part of the fun is getting together and showing off your costumes.
I think it's a real shame that they have decided to do this.
I'm fine with the everyday rule of no over 14! But at Halloween I mean talk about o er reaction.
Same as with pulling the bubble blasters and buzz light year guns.

Okay. But the bottom line is that Disney could decide to refuse admission to people wearing blue shirts if they so choose. They get to make the rules and you get to decide whether or not they're acceptable to you. If they're not, well, don't go.

I just don't really understand why a Halloween costume is such a big deal to an adult. We had fun dressing up. If we can't next year, too bad, but it's nothing to get upset about.

You are missing the point, that was big part of the draw for adults to come. I can be upset if I want to. I can choose not to attend the party if I want to. I can choose to spend my money somewhere else as well.

I think Disney is over reacting.

Bingo. Because for every person who whines that if they can't dress up for the party they won't go, there are at least that many people who will GLADLY take their place and dress like a normal adult.

I agree this will hurt MNSSHP Ticket sales..
Being able to dress up as a family WAS a HUGE draw! People plan these things WAY in advance.
Without this.. The only draws are stage show, 2-3 rare characters, and trick or treating.
Remember these tickets are not cheap.. Taking this away will effect them, if it's enough to allow costumes back? Only time will tell..

We've done Halloween parties on both coasts. Adult costumes at DLR are HUGE. There's no Halloween parade. Half the fun was seeing what everyone was wearing. It was about dressing the entire family. I absolutely believe this will affect ticket sales.

I say keep the ban on costumes for parties, it will save me so much money not having to make fancy costumes or having to buy party tickets. Should save me at least $500.

We live in a very different time from what we used to (sad, but true). It just doesn't upset me. They have to put safety first. Sure enough, heaven forbid, as soon as something happens, people would say "Why didn't Disney do this or why didn't Disney do that to better protect park visitors". They are doing what they feel is necessary to protect park visitors from this increasingly dangerous world that we live in. Disney is not immune to these dangers. I can go to Disney and still manage to have a very good time even with the changes made for safety reasons. I say, do what is needed to keep us safe.

There are 10 months between now and Halloween. In that time, everything could change. There's no point in stressing yourself out about it now, when it could be a non-event come next fall. We don't know for sure why the ban was announced in the first place, so we don't know what circumstances need to change for the ban to be lifted.

Personally, I think they would have preferred to just ban certain types of costumes that make it easier to smuggle contraband (in this case, weapons) into the park, but a partial ban is much harder to enforce than a full ban because it's a constant judgment call by the front line CM's. Procedurally, it's easier to say no costumes period. Perhaps if the metal detectors don't make a huge difference in how long it takes to get into the park, they could bring back costumes but make it mandatory that everyone in a costume must go through the detectors. We just don't know. If the tickets go on sale and the ban isn't lifted, then it's time to be upset.

I don't really have a dog in the fight, because I tended to either wear jeans and a themed t-shirt and hat (like a Pluto tee and Pluto hat) just because it's so darned hot in September when I typically would go to the parties, or I would do some sort of Disneybounding in regular clothes. Although I appreciated the effort some people went to with their costumes, I don't see how they could have been comfortable in the heat.
