Was at Costco today and saw that they have face masks (triple layer), box of 100 for ~$10. However, says that they are non-medical. Picked one up for our trip to Disney next week. Anyone know how good these are? I like the fact that they're triple layer, but just wondering if I should be relying on them? I currently use double-layer material masks from Old Navy.

My opinion unless you are using a fitted medical N95 no mask is going to fully protect you, might be better then nothing or it might not. I choose to wear a double layer cloth mask to project others. But I won't try fool myself saying the masks does a whole lot of good. I have more confidence in the vaccine then a face mask. I am out dealing with people every day, so far I've not contracted the corona virus. Do the best you can and live life and enjoy it. I will add we buy masks from Costco for staff, they seem to like them. Personally I prefer my cloth masks.

Dymon has KN95 masks still, I think. They are 97 cents each. You can buy in store with a minimum order of 20 or online with a minimum order of 100.

It's good information, although I'm not a fan of how the guy phrased his responses. Makes me thankful about how Dr. Isaac Bogosh phrases his answers on CP24 - always tries to balance the negative information with a helpful takeaway.

And speaking of takeaways, the takeaway for me is that, even if you only have a double layer cloth mask, it is still better than not wearing a mask at all, especially if you're following other protocols as well.

I use the costco masks regularly and have brought them with me to Disney. They work well for our family and have been quite comfortable. I prefer them over cloth masks.

We’ve switched to the ATSM-3 masks in most situations with N95s for unavoidable close contact. There are excellent articles out there right now and some good recommendations on types.
Nothing is fool proof, most masks will be better than nothing, and good quality rated and tested will offer a much higher level of protection.

I like the cloth masks as well, but the non-medical masks are lighter and easier to breathe thru, especially if it's warm outside. Was just wondering on a comparison between the two - cloth and Costco. We are vaxxed, but obviously don't want to contract Covid and have to quarantine when we get back home.

As was mentioned above, if you want to get the best possible protection, then you need an N95 mask. Costco sells MedSup KN95 masks (https://www.costco.ca/kn95-disposable-5-layer-face-mask,-20-pack.product.100672009.html) for as little as $5.50 for a 20-pack. These 5-layer masks are very similar in terms of protection as N95 masks. They are not very comfortable, and harder to breath through than cloth masks or whatever, but the protection is significantly more. Costco doesn't sell N95 masks, but you can get them from various online sites in Canada (though be prepared to pay a lot for them).

Costco does sell N95 masks ( at least in Ontario ) but they are constantly sold out right now. They had three different types and one of them was featured in a CBC article where they tested N95 masks and it’s scored very high. That’s probably why they are so hard to get now.

Interesting, I didn't think Costco had any ever. Do you have a link? As for the CBC article, are you referring to this one: https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.5974442 ? None of those masks (including the one from Costco) are N95 masks -- they are KN95 and KF94 masks. N95 masks typically look like this or like this, at least the ones from 3M.

We used the Costco masks while at Disney World in October. We wore our masks even while outdoors. We had them on all day while at the Magic Kingdom on the 50th birthday.

They worked for use, 2 weeks in Orlando, no one got COVID.

I reached out to Costco this morning regarding my online order last week for the KN95 masks shown on their website, as I had not yet received a shipping notice. The CSR advised that they were on back order and shipping was not expected until mid-January.

I work in healthcare. What's most important is the fit of the mask. You can't have gaps along the nose or on the sides. Also, medical grade masks start breaking down after a few hours. So please be sure and change to a new mask often.

Product not found is what I get when I click on the link. I might get some KN95 masks from Amazon as they come in 1 day and are 30 for ~$20.

The second best thing to N95 is level procedure masks.

I just got the ones I ordered from Costco earlier in the week. They are indeed Niosh approved N95 particulate respirator masks.
