Corseted Dresses - Is there some size leeway?

It's always been my experience when wearing corsets that it didn't really matter whether you normally wore a size 8 or a 14, the corset would fit; the ties would just be sized accordingly.

Have you found that to be the same with corseted wedding dresses?

My concern is that the bridal shop sized me, but I asked for a size higher because I thought I'd gain weight.

I didn't. Oops.

I don't think it's going to matter; it's just a size. But I'm curious if anyone found the dress (with corset ties) still fit even when they went up or down a size.

I got told yesterday when I was trying dresses on that I would need to gain or loose 15/16 lbs before I would need to change the dress size. I asked because I will need to wear my dress for my at home reception and was concerned that I would gain a couple of pounds in Florida before coming home, Those portion sizes are killers :rotfl:

Linz xxx :)

The only thing would be if it were so big that tying the laces tight enough to keep it on bunched up the fabric so the edges overlapped and looked funny....

That's great to hear!!! :worship: I've lost a little bit of weight (not sure how), so I've been very worried my dress won't fit me anymore. I think I should be good then!!

I was told you had ten pounds either way. Laces are the best things ever!! The only problem was that I couldn't get mine pulled quite tight enough because it was a little big, but it was fine. We just retied it a couple times over the course of the night. No big deal. Saved the extra money, time and pain that taking the dress in would have caused.

My dress is corseted with lacing up the back and when I ordered mine I ordered a size bigger because I was nervous with my hip size. When I tried it on it was actually to big in the bust! So, they are ordering me a smaller size so the bust fits and he assured me that I won't have any problem in the hips!
