I apologize if this has alread been addressed. I saw the 2011 Disney Dining plan PDF and there are no DDP options at CSR. Is this normal? We are planning on a few meals at Pepper Market, but do I need to make other plans?

This is normal at this point in the year. The restaurants at CSR (as well as some restaurants at Epcot) are not owned by Disney and are always the last to be included in the DDP for the coming year. Keep checking - I expect that Pepper Market will be added by January 1. Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Hi Kathy!

I was reading on another thread about pizza on the dining plan. It said that you can get a large pizza, two desserts and two drinks for two counter service credits (only if you pick it up - delivery is still two table service credits). If that is correct info, do you know of a place we could do this at CSR? Thanks for your insight!

I can't answer this as I don't eat Disney or Florida pizza; hopefully someone else can answer your question.

Great photos; thank you for sharing.

Hi all! We will be staying at CSR for the first time from 31 January until 5 February. :goodvibes I am wondering when the pricing for preferred rooms/buildings begins? I will be traveling with dh and our youngest, who is 5. I have no desire to be by the Dig Site since the weather is so hit or miss in the dead of winter. I would, however, like the shortest walk possible to the Pepper Market and a bus stop. I did peruse the many wonderful pictures of the resort and love the area with the fountains. What building would you recommend? I don't want to pay extra for preferred, and would rather stick with the standard. Thank you all in advance! :worship:

Pricing for the preferred rooms goes into effect January 1. I would request Cabanas 9A or Casitas 4 or 5 if you don't want to pay preferred.

Done with the last class of my bachelors degree education. 14 weeks of student teaching to go and I will officially be a teacher!

And in less than 6 days I will be at the happiest place on earth!!

Congratulations on the classes and good luck with the student teaching (our oldest son just finished student teaching a month ago and is now doing a lot of subbing).

And :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for less than six days.

Hi Kat,

Our vacation is coming up so quickly, now!!! YAHOO.

But, I'm a little concerned. I just read a post elsewhere on the boards that all requests are now being ignored, and reservations are being handled by computer. We have two rooms, and since I am disabled - I really wanted my daughter near us. Also, since I have a scooter, was hoping we'd get our request for Casitas 4 or 5 to be near the 1st bus stop (figuring the resort should be fairly empty between Jan 10th and the 16th. We move for our 2nd week to another hotel in DTD.)

People are also stating CM's are barely looking at the computers and saying nothing else is available - this I find hard to believe because most CM's really do care about their guests.:confused3

Any info would be appreciated. :thumbsup2

As always, reading the boards. :surfweb:

I have a feeling that CSR may be going the way of the other resorts and ignorning the faxes. Since we've not experienced this yet, I'm not sure how it will affect requests.

I didn't read that thread as saying CMs were barely looking at computers - that was one person saying HE acted that way when he worked in reservations.

That said, I have essentially the same question - do we think it's still worthwhile to fax in a request?

See my answer above.

So sorry if this has been addressed already- but I really need to know!
We are planning to eat 2-3 meals at the resort (counter/quick service). Will we be able to use our dining credits or have to pay out of pocket?

Cafe Rix (grab and go) and Pepper Market (food court type establishment) take the dining plan. However, at Pepper Market, there is a 10% gratuity (to avoid this...ask for your food to go and eat outside at one of the tables by the lake.

I had lunch at the Pepper Market on November 30th and we were not charged the 10% gratuity. The words were crossed out on our dining card and I asked our server about it. She confirmed that no gratuity would be added to our bill.

I was there last week on the DDP and no mention of a gratuity was made at checkout (I was charged 1 QS and left a cash tip for the server).

We stayed at the CSR from 12/4 – 12/11/2010. This is our 6th time staying there; 4 times for work and twice from choice. We have also stayed at POR.

Arrived at MCO around 10:30 AM and ME had us at the resort by noon. We had done online check in, and were checked in by 12:15. And out room was ready! We had requested Casitas section and a room with a 27 in the number (that’s our anniversary). Well, we got both - Casitas 5 room 5227. No one said so, but we think it was an upgrade to water view, because we were overlooking a fountain. We dropped our carry on luggage in the room, and went for a walk around the lake and to grab some lunch at the Pepper Market. By the time we got back, out luggage was there. Kudos to the ME fairies.

We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, so we got buttons at check in. All week long CMs and fellow guests were wishing us happy anniversary.

We had reservations for the Hoop De Do Review that evening, so we decided to relax, and hit the quiet pool to rest for a while. That was the only time we even thought about the pool all week, as the next day temperatures dropped into the fifties with overnight freezes. We wore sweatshirts the rest of the week until Friday.

We ate breakfast at the PM most mornings and it was as good as we remembered. We also had supper there one night. The cooks and wait staff we smiling and helpful. We did not try Maya Grill.

One thing we learned from prior trips, is that the tap water is awful. So, we brought a Brita pitcher and some little half and half’s we found in the supermarket. So, mornings, we could have coffee before getting dressed.

We were near bus stop # 2. Bus service was pretty much OK all week, except 1 morning we waited 30 minutes for an AK bus. The nice thing about bus stop 2 is that it is the first pick up for the park busses in the morning, and the first to drop off on the return trip. We only had to stand if we stayed at the park until closing.

We love the grounds and theme at CSR. It is magical without being aggressively Disney.

One night we came home early and we could see the EPCOT fireworks from the outside our building.

We’re already thinking about out next trip!

Just got back yesterday. We booked a king room, requested Cabanas, and got a corner, waterview king in Cabanas 9B. It was a lovely room. And due to the cold, it was a great location! Very close to El Centro.

Unfortunately, because it was so cold (20's - 40's with severe windchill), we didn't have the opportunity to walk around the resort, so my DH didn't really get the feel for it. He didn't get the "ahhhh" feeling I got, so he wasn't terribly impressed.

Mousekeeping was very good, room clean & comfortable, everything was great as far as that was concerned. CMs were friendly. Didn't use the buses since we had a car this time.

The biggest disappointment had to do with the refillable mugs. In all the other resorts I visited (GF, POFQ, and previously at AKL), there were the Gold Tea machines for iced tea, and hot cocoa machines. Neither of these are available at Cafe Rix. Only coffee, tea and soda. In the cold, a little cocoa would have been nice!

We are staying at the Coronado Springs resort right now. We have had a pleasant stay so far. One thing that I had been worried about before the trip was whether all our electronics would fit in the room safe. (I almost didn't take the netbook I'm using right now since I had read the safe was so small.)

I was pleasantly surprised to find that while the safe was small and not very deep it was big enough for our netbook and more! Below is a picture of the safe full of items.

In the back of the safe is our 10 inch Asus netbook. In the front is a regular sized wallet, our digital camera, and a Nintendo DS.

I thought this information would help some of you!

Thank you so much for sharing. That is a great photo to show the size of the safe. Would you mind if I copy and pasted that on the first page where we have a picture of the safe -- so we have a "empty" photo and a "filled" photo?

I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay at the CSR. Happy Holidays.

Just wondering if anyone recently back from Coronado Springs experienced any stomach virus symptoms while there. We were there Dec. 11-18 and 5 of the 7 members in our party became ill. We ran into at least 3 other families who reported similar ailments and at least one cast member let it slip that there was definitely something going around. I realize, of course, that we could have picked up something from home or on the plane, but it was, indeed, very odd.

We're home from our CSR trip!!

I am doing a full review for my blog, so I'll be sure to post it here when I'm done.

We LOVED it!

Can't wait to hear all about it. Welcome home (although I'm sure you'd rather still be there).

We were there Dec. 12-18, and had no issues, nor did we see anyone who did. However, it's not really "odd" because it's norovirus season, and it's a nasty germ that is highly contagious. If you get it, you're toast. And if one member of your party gets it, it is likely that the others will, too. Given the number of people who visit Disney, I'm not surporised at all that it's rearing its ugly head.

hehe, yes we are glad to be home and off of the road, but I am already missing CSR.

I just read your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the CSR and everything worked out for you. Your daughter is absolutely adorable...I love the photo of her sleeping in the big queen bed. :)

yes, my family got the stomack virus. We first stayed at The Swan Dec 3-5 and moved to CSR Dec 5-11. I thought I got food poisoning on Dec 6 but then my son got sick 2 days later and then my husband. I don't think it had to do with CSR b/c we ran to a couple of family that had the same thing and they were all from different resorts. My son threw up in the middle of the night all over the bed and I called housekeeping and they came within 10 mins to clean up the beddings and the next day they had the whole room stanized but the virus was already in our systme. I don't believe it was the resort.

We were not automatically charged gratuity, either. We had to mention to the cashier that we wanted to add it if we wanted it charged back to the room. We left cash tips for the most part, though.
