And to add insult to injury, DH's truck wouldn't start this morning. Not sure yet what is going on with that, but pretty sure it's NOT the batteries since they were just replaced in January 2010.

Oh no! It's that Murphy again. He did that to Katmark's car too just before vacation!

Aren't you sweet? No, we are still on Marco Island and fly home Wednesday. I'll try to start my TR on Thursday or Friday and will post a link here if it doesn't reach 250 pages prior to. I think the title will be "Uppy, Uppy Mr. Andy".

Uh oh, sounds like Andy likes his sleep and wasn't in commando mode so early. Boy does that sound familiar!

Just booked!

I just booked a surprise birthday trip at CSR for my dd, for January 28-February 3.

It will be a girls' trip with me (mom), dd, and dd's grandma (my MIL).

Soooo excited! Dd turns 8 years old on January 27. My rough plan right now is to keep it a surprise all the way to her birthday, and then give her a package with a gift card for spending money and a note that says she's going to WDW tomorrow!

Has anyone been at CSR in the winter? Is it still worth staying here even if it's chilly and we can't take advantage of that lovely pool?

Thanks,
Nicole

We stayed there in March this year. It was a VERY cold March. But we just had to try out the pool. The pools are heated, though I have to admit there was one day where it sure didn't feel heated, but the next day was marvelous!! We brought sweat pants and shirt to change into after swimming for the walk back to the room. We pick our resort based mostly on the pool. We even swam in January at POP century one night when it was below freezing. The pool temp felt great, steam was rising out of the pool the entire time. But on the walk back to our room ice was forming on our hair!! We are crazy swim nuts.

Hi, does anyone have any pictures of a Standard room at this resort? I looked at a couple of sites & 2 sites had what looked like an old unattractive room, the other looked beautiful. Not sure if this resort was refurbished & the pictures were old. Also wanted to know if all the room decor in each building look the same. :confused3. Thanks in advance.

CSR was refurbished a couple of years ago and all the standard rooms look the same now regardless of what area they are in. I've stayed there six or seven times since the refurb and every room has looked just alike. I copied these from page one of this thread:

Can't wait to read all about your non-CSR stay! It's going to be close on the 250 pages!

I took a bunch of pictures in December 2008 and you can see them here starting at post #728. There is also a CSR picture thread here with lots of pictures of the resort including Christmas decorations.

Here is a taste of what you might see!

Thank you! That was wonderful!!!!!! :santa:

We are headed to the CSR on Saturday for 8 days and then onto the Dream for a back-to-back cruise  We've requested 8A for our stay (we know it's not guaranteed) but wanted to know how the online check in work. If I check in online do I have just as much chance of getting building 8A as I would if I checked in in person? Does it matter either way?

Thanks!

I have two questions about halloween in disney, sorry that one of them isn't completely CSR related.
1. Does CSR decorate the resort for Halloween? I have seen pictures for Christmas, but not for Halloween?

2. Does anyone have any idea when the world starts decorating for Halloween. We don't really want to reschedule (We will be there sept. 2-8 next year) but want to see some Halloween stuff. Not completely interested in the MNSSHP, just the decorations really.

The fall decorations go up starting on August 31st.

Thank you! So we might be able to see some of it then. A sneak peak is better than nothing. Because of my future mother in laws birthday and some other friends birthdays we didn't want to make it later in the month.

As long as you have made the reuest prior to arrival, I don't think it matters either way. Rooms are assigned 4-5 days prior to check in, so you can always wait to do online check in a couple of days before you leave. We have successfully changed our location in the online check in line as well as the regular line, so you can ask to be moved either way if you don't like where they put you.

8A is a popular request - hope you get it! That's our favorite location.

Can't wait to read your trip report, KatMark!

I'm bummed today here at work...thinking about how last week I was in the Magic Kingdom and then swam at night at the Dig Site. Returning to reality is hard!

Yes, going back to the real world after Disney/Coronado Cabanas is tough.
I miss the beach & palm trees & gelato......:)

I was thinking the same thing at work today. One week ago was a 14 hourday at Magic kingdom. Including dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern and MNSSHP. Today was a 13 hour day that included a corporate audit, my mid year performance review, a visit from my district manager, and a corporate level visitor.

I spent the day strategizing all sorts of nonsense at work. Tonight I think I need to strategize how quickly I can back to the World.Do you think CSR could use a resident manager? I have all the schooling, and living there would really work for me.

You unfortunately can't note your requested section or a specific building request during online check in... you will have to call the reservations line and ask them to add it to your reservations. It's my understanding that all rooms are now computer assigned, so if you get to the resort and are placed in a section that isn't where you want to be, you can ask if there is a room in another section. There's no guarantee that there will be any other availability, but you can at least ask.

Good luck!
Kelly

The lovebugs are gone!!!! I've seen a stray one here and there, but not like a couple weeks ago! My car is thankful!!

I know my question should technically be in another section, but I prefer to ask you all since I know some of you are pros at all of this...

I am just trying to check and see if it is best for my husband and I (no children) to stay with the FD promo for my travel dates between 2/11 (check in) and 2/18 (departure) which is 7 nights...or to pay OOP for food without a dining plan and use the 30% off RO discount that was released to the public today.

It seems like when I do the math, there is a difference of about $500 in favor of the RO discount, but I'm not sure if my math is correct. We want a standard room. Nothing available at the moment on Disney's website but rooms seem to always open up. Anyway, with a $500 difference it still seems better to stick with FD because that would only allow about $70/day for 7 days paying OOP for food for two adults as the break-even point. No doubt we would spend more than that even without ordering dessert.

Did I do my math right? If the RO discount doesn't beat FD for a standard room with two adults, when on earth would it be better? Deluxe only? A family with kids would be better off any day with FD I would think.
