We have this every year I am 50% irish...
Does anyone eles cook Cornbeef and cabbage and potates?
My kids look forward to this every year! :) :bounce:

We did it once, but thankfully never again. I'm about 50% Irish, and I wasn't a fan.

We have it if we are with my parents. I have never made it so we don't have it at our house. This year dh and I will be at a wedding so I don't know what we are having, but I am sure the kids will have cornbeef and cabbage since they will be at my parents house for the night.

I make this every year for my family. Yum.
And since prices are so good on it this time of year, I usually stock up on it for future dinners.

How hard do you try, really?
It's really, really too painful to discuss! I am not very successful at it and my family dreads my attempts each and every year!

There, there. *pats mtblujeans on shoulder*

I normally do. BUT...I gave up meat for Lent this year so just cabbage wouldnt be much fun.

Will not ever eat it again!

My mother is Irish. Growing up, we had corned beef at least twice a month. We had to eat what was put in front of us whether we liked it or not.
I despise the stuff. Just the smell of it makes me feel ill. I haven't eaten corned beef in about 25 years and I do not miss it!

Thanks! *snif* :sad1:
I just can't mess with a crying woman. It was all fun and games until you broke out the tears.

*sigh*

My mom used to make it and just the smell would make me want to gag. :crazy2: Peanut butter and jelly for me on those occassions. :teeth:

LOVE corned beef but skip the cabbage.

I actually make corned beef quite often

We love corned beef, you can have the cabbage, we skip it. This is the time of year where corned beef is avalable at a good price, I stock up and keep it in the freezer, then pop it in the crock pot w/some spuds and voila, dinner at the end of the day! We don't have it as a St. Pat's day tradition exclusively.

Yum, this thread reminded me to head out to the grocery store and stock up.

Oh yes! I just love corned beef and cabbage both! Always ate it growing up and make it periodically myself. DH and DS's won't eat the corned beef, but it is meal I'm happy to make AND eat all by myself! Always have leftovers since it's all mine, but who cares! A lady has to have a few things all to herself !!! :rotfl2:

I'm part Irish, too! And, while I LOVE corned beef and cabbage, I do not make it for St Patrick's Day. Honestly, that's more because I never remember the day. Plus, my husband doesn't just love it, and my younger DD won't eat it. Older DD and I enjoy it infrequently.

We love corned beef, can do without the cabbage. I fix mine with red potatoes and baby carrots.

We actually have it about once a month.
