very, very weird.
I liked it, but it was weird.
I liked it, but it was weird.
The one in the theater was polarized so I'm not sure if that will transfer or home TV's.Is it too weird for an almost 7 year old who is just getting over a fear of mascots and santa?
The stop action looks so neat..I would love for our family to go...but I think it may be too much for our youngest...
Thanks...There were a lot of little ones when we went. No one seemed to be scared. It was also not in 3-D. I think it just depends on the child. Go early in the day, so they have time to get it off there mind before bed, and be prepared to leave?
I didn't think that the 3D effect added a fear factor to it, it just gave the movie a little more dimension. They didn't even do any of the old standby 3D effects like throwing things at the audience!
There were lots of small children in our theater. I took DS9 and DS10. What was also "weird" was that all the kids were quiet! So they were either fascinated or sleeping.I didn't think that the 3D effect added a fear factor to it, it just gave the movie a little more dimension. It's not weird in a really scary way..more like a very weird imaginative way. Like how in the world did anyone think of all this to put into a movie. Very, very creative. There were some scary parts, but nothing intense. I think a 7 year old would like it. One of those movies where you wonder what the writer/director was smoking when they came up with it..![]()
I was shocked to find out that the movie theater considered this 3D a "special event" and they charged an extra $2.50 for it! And they wouldn't let me use my free tickets because it was a special event. I haven't been to a 3D movie since Shark boy and Lava girl-that didn't have a surcharge. When did they start that baloney? Then the wanted the glasses "recycled" at the end. I kept mine, if they wanted them back they should give me the $2.50 I paid for them..boy that really ticked me off. I guess if it comes out in 3Don DVD, they will have to give you glasses anyway, but I wasn't about to give them back.

We kept our glasses too-for the same exact reason!! I was also surprised about the surcharge AND the recycling box to return them in the end.

We saw this today, too! My dd is almost 14, and this kind of thing is right up her alley. When dd was 5 she watched Nightmare Before Christmas over and over.
We met my work partner and his wife at the theater, and they brought their 6 year old. I was worried she might get scared, but she loved it too.
I have to ask if you saw it at the Carmike! We were at the 3:20 show.
This kind of movie is one reason I love Disney so much, just pure fantasy.

OMG, YOU ARE SCARING ME!!!
YES!!!! WE WERE THERE AT THE SAME TIME!!!!![]()

For us the surcharge was not for the glasses but for the DLP projector that is used to the 3-D movies. We have paid that price for all the 3-D movies we have seen.
So that probably means that the 3D effects will not transfer to DVD and TV, I guess.
As I said, the last 3D movie I saw was Shark Boy and Lava Girl..and that was at a bargain theater, so I am sure it was different technology not requiring a special projector. (I don't get out much, as you can tell!) It was still a shock to see that I was paying $10 for a matinee!!
