Convenient ways to bring water to the parks? Filtering bottles?

OP I am just the opposite, first of all you can't get a single bottle of water for few bucks at WDW. They are $4-$5 a bottle, with 5 people in my family, thats $25 for one water stop. No way am I paying that.
Somebody's been ripping you off, big-time. I checked a few restaurants on the menus here on the DIS - Gasparilla Grill charges $2, others charge $2.50. I'm not saying that's cheap - but if you're paying $4-$5 per bottle for water, either somebody's stealing from you, somebody's lying to you, or you're drinking imported water in the Italian pavilion.

I bring a few re-usable bottles and fill them at the resort food court with the ice and water. When they are empty then I get free ice water at the CS locations.

I also bring Nestea flavoring packages as I still find the CS ice water tastes funny. We have good water up here straight from the tap.

Since I go during Free Dining, I usually get bottled water as my drink.

We used a filter water bottle on both our last trips, refilling it at the fountains and using the free ice water from CS restaurants. You do have to follow the directions and rinse it through the first time. But after that there was no hint of foul taste and it definitely helped take the metallic taste out of the Orlando tap water. HTH! :thumbsup2

thats exactly what I'm looking for...does it come in a 50 gallon tank:rotfl::rolleyes:
Has she ever used it in WDW, do you know how it makes the water taste? I might just buy it and hope for the best.
She's never used it at WDW but we are college students and it filters Rochester city water pretty well!

I'm guess I'm referring to the carts/stands that sell cold soda's, water, pretzels, churros, ice cream, whatever, they were definitely at least $4 bucks a bottle. Even if I were to seek out water at CS restaurants for 2.50 a bottle, for 5 people over a 10 hour day at the parks, we'd at least consume 3 bottles each. So, thats about $38 a day for water!? Over a 10 day trip, thats $380. At Walmart, that will buy me 76 cases (about 1800 bottles) of bottled water.

So, no, nobodys been ripping me off, Kate. In fact, if you're willing to spend that much on water, I'd say you're the one getting ripped off. ;)

Like I said, having an ice cold water or peach tea at my fingertips when I want it is worth the load. Some people like to travel as light as possible, to each his own. There's utility in both decisions. But quite honestly I rather spend $400 bucks on bigger and better things then water!

Since I am carrying on my luggage, and traveling to the international parks, I want to take one of these filtering water bottles.

Can I carry these on the planes without water in them? I cannot check my luggage, to prevent any delay, any loss, or anything such as that, but I really think these things would come in handy.

Anyone know?

I can't see why not if its dry.

Just so you know if you are worried about "bugs" in the water only a very few of these bottles can filter them out.

It mostly a carbon filter for taste.

I live in Florida but there is something about the Orlando water that tastes weird to even me. So we buy bottled water outside of the park and bring it in. Our kids refuse to drink the water from the parks & we would have to buy 5 bottles every time we needed water. Our kids love water and prefer it over everything else so they can drink a lot of it. We freeze it the night before, put it into a little cooler pack and stick it under the stroller. We usually bring 12 bottles to the park each day and drink them all.

Its much more cheaper to buy a case of water outside of the park & bring the bottles in then it is to buy the water in the park.

Plus when my kids get thirsty there is no need to wait in a line. Its worth it to me.

Wow, who revived this old post?

Anyway, we ended up buying a refillable bottle from Pur that filters the water and has a gel stick in it to keep it cold. We'll see how it works.

I'm going to say 100% sure the gel stick is not allowed.

Its the same as the gel packs. Many people ask in the transportation forum how to keep their TSA legal snacks cool without these packs.

Why wouldn't you be able to put it in checked baggage? Seems silly. I can put liquids in checked baggage.

OK misread your post.

I assumed since the PP brought up getting water bottles through security I thought you were going to see if these bottles could be brought in a carry on.

So

We'll see how it works. in the parks

Not We'll see how it works. as in getting them past security.

umm, ok.

awesome you found your solution, but since i got through all 4 pages, I still get to post!
We also use a camelback. I bring the gallon size arrowhead bottles, and at night before bed, we fill up the bladder and put it in the fridge to cool it off. and the pockets on it are large enough that it is the only bag that we use. And since you can't backwash, the family shares. I like being able to drink hands-free!

LOL, I do love the Camelbac, I just don't think I want to wear it through the parks.

Yes, you can absolutely bring filter water bottles through security, as long as they are empty. You can then fill them at a fountain before boarding the airplane and have water for the trip. I put mine in a clear plastic bag and put it separately in the tray at security. That way they can easily see what it is and that it's empty.

I have Brita bottles, which are quite old now - however, my local ShopRite just started selling a new model a few weeks ago and I picked up a couple of new ones. They are pretty good at taking the sulphur taste out of the Florida water.

I, too, am a water drinker. I love water and can usually drink tap but the Florida water is beyond disgusting.

Use a bobble bottle! In July I froze a couple inches of water in the bottle overnight and then filled it the rest of the way in the morning to get started. Once you're in the park, go to counter service places and ask for cups of ice water or even just ice. Pour through the filter and you're good to go. The filter worked really, really well at removing the taste. I was pleasantly surprised.

I am not sure about the water in other countries, especially Japan at this point. My concern is to filter out any harmful items, like chlorine or ground minerals that are not necessarily prevalent in US water. And the funky sulphur taste in FLA is odd, too.

Anybody know where I can get these? Target? Walmart?

You can buy them at Target. I was there just yesterday! They have several different colors too.

Some of us just like to drink water. Instead of sodas and fruit juices, that doesn't mean anyone is carrying around tanks of water, don't be absurd. And your naive if you think water isn't the best thing for your body. It's great for your skin and food absorption.

So with your recommendation, how are you getting rid of the awful taste that is wdw water. Which was my question.

You have stated that water in WDW has an "awful taste" to you. I believe you.

Many of us do not believe that water in WDW tastes awful. Please accept that.

Having said that, you probably know already that there are a multitude of filters available. Britta is one of them.

Good luck on your next visit to WDW. Hope you enjoy it.
