Convection Oven Question

Why does the blower in my convection over continue to blow for half an hour (or more!) after the oven has been turned off? I just can't think of any reasons for it--but I understand that it is "normal" for this to happen. I'm just curious as to why. Anyone know?

I never use the convection function on my oven, but my blower also turns on a few minutes after I have turned off the oven. It doesn't stay on for a half hour, but it surprises me every time.
