My Dh and DD and myself will be at Disneyworld in October 19-24 and have made reservations at the Contemporary Resort so that we are on the monorail. Due to cost we are not in the tower but the garden rooms--what are the pros and cons to these rooms please and also

alot of people mention room upgrades--how do you get these as when I called to make my reservations the person said that they aren't given out anymore. My family would love to stay in the tower but can't afford it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

DH and I have stayed in the north garden wing three times. We love it. The rooms are huge! There is plenty of drawer space. If you get a room on the bay, you can watch the EWP from your room. It is just a short walk to the food court and the pool. We like the rooms on the first floor. You get a little patio with chairs. Great for relaxing in the morning with coffee and great for relaxing after a long day in the parks!

We have been in rooms with two queen beds and one with a king bed. It also has a comfy chair with foot rest and a couch that is a bed, too.

The bathroom is also large with a separate room for the toliet.
All rooms come with a safe, ironing board/iron, hairdryer. Coffee pots are available upon request.

The north garden wing is close to the walkway to MK. Only takes about 10 minutes.

I can't really say I can think of any cons. Alot of people talk about the decor of the rooms. It is very colorful. But that doesn't bother us at all.

Hope this helps. Any other questions, feel free to ask or PM me.

from the CR tower and loved it, but the garden area seemed cool too. Maybe you keep an eye on discounts through AAA or mousesavers.com to see if a code becomes available during your trip time that you could you use to move to the tower. You will be minutes away from MK---it'll be great!!!

I'm sure the tower is great. But what you don't know can't hurt you! We stayed in the north wing and loved it! I would do it again! I didn't feel deprived because I wasn't in the tower. I am very fussy and found the garden wing to be fine!

Hi Marlene

We stayed at the Contemporary in 2001 in the north wing as well. It was the first time we had ever stayed on site! To be in the 'classic' Disney resort was pretty awesome. Whenever I thought of Disney I also thought of that cool A-frame hotel that the monorail when through. What a great idea.

I'm really picky when it comes to hotels so that being said I do feel that the room/area that we were in needed an update. However being so close to our favorite park, MK and the ability to just jump on the monorail from the hotel was really great. All in all it was a great place to stay and I'd go back again.

Like you, we really can't afford $400+ per night for the tower (as that works out to about $600 Canadian per night for us). I'd love to somehow get a free upgrade to the tower or at least a rate that we could afford.

Another thing that is really great about the Contemporary is that you can view the fireworks from MK. Remember to go up the stairs in the tower on the north end of the hotel and go outside to view the fireworks at night. What a great site!!

Have a great time as I know you will.

Andy
