Contemporary or Beach Club Villas?? Has anyone been to both?

I agree i would stay at CR for 3 days, do Magic Kingdom, then move over to BCV for 4 days, and do Epcot and MGM. Thats what im doing in October. Of course i decided to stay 2 more days, so now im not sure what im going to do with those last 2! :confused3

I've been to both and would choose the The Contemporary over BCV. The main reason being the walking distance to the MK and food court. I found the boat from the Beach Club to MGM took longer than the bus. Also if you stay in BCV you can walk to Epcot, but you will enter through World Showcase. It can be a long walk with little ones if you mainly plan on spending time in Future World where the majority of rides are.

If you stay at BCV, you will need a 2BR for 8 people (assuming 6 children and two adults.) You'll have a master bedroom with a king size bed, a second bedroom with a double/queen bed and a double/queen sleeper sofa, and a double/queen sleeper sofa in the living room as well. (I'm not sure if these last three are double or queen size, but someone will know in a minute!!!!) In order to rent this unit, you would probably pay the going rate of $10.00 per point, and the per night cost would be 50 points for Sunday through Thursday nights and 106 points for Friday and Saturday nights. So a weeknight would be $500.00 and a weekend night would be $1060.00. A week's stay would be 500 x 5 + 1060 x 2 = 2500 + 2120= $4620.00. You can check the WDW website to see current rack rates for this room, but I believe this would be a substantial savings over paying rack rates. I don't know what the Contemporary would be, but you can also check it on the WDW website.

The Beach Club area is so wonderful - great pool, fantastic access to Epcot and MGM, excellent restaurants and just a fun atmosphere. The Contemporary does, of course, have great momorail access tot he MK, and a castle view is wonderful as well. In your situation, I'd vote for the BCV 2BR, but either way you'll have a wonderful trip!!!
I think your calculations are way off. A week at the BCV for a 2 Br can't be 462 points. I think a more realistic number would be in the 275 range , which would mean the week would cost $2750. I own at BCV and I don't think I ever used that many points for a week at a 2 Br during peak.

Okay...I'm looking at my 2005-2006 points chart as we speak. BCV is 34 pts Sun-Thurs nights for a 2 bdrm unit during May. It's 72 pts. a night for Fri and Sat nights in May....314 pts for a week. At $10 a pt that would be...$3140.

That being said...I just got back from BCV. The pool was okay but not great if your child isn't a 'fish'. Way too spread out and too many kids in it to be able to easily watch your child unless you stay right with them.
Also the food offerings aren't great unless you eat a lot in your room. We did breakfast and lunch in our room about 1/2 the time.

If I had to choose, I would go wih the Contemporary. We love it there. We stayed in the north wing, on the ground level. I think I would be tempted to stay there for part of the time and then move over to BCV. I say to go that way because of our trip last week. We were at BCV and moved to POR for our last two nights. We had our luggage picked up by Bell Services at 8:30 am. They told me it would be at POR between 1 and 3. No problem since we would be in MK that day and most likely not able to get into our room much before 3. But, when we did get into our room at 3, we walked down to POR Bell Services and they told me our stuff wasn't there yet. They called BC and were told that they had been busy and hadn't made the transfer yet!!! But they would do it right away. Well, at 4:30 I called Bell Services to see what the status was. Nope, not there. They told me they would call and check again and let me know. They called me back to tell me BC still hadn't sent it!!! They had my stuff for 8 hrs....my poor dd really wanted to swim but had no suit!! I finally got our stuff around 5:15!!! So, based on BC's lack of ability to organize their time correctly, I would suggest having your trip start at CR and have them move your things to BCV. We had them move our luggage to BWV last summer and it went quite smoothly!!!
