I always found it odd that people will laugh and openly mock conspiracy theorists for their odd beliefs that have scientifically been proven false, yet themselves then go to church and partake in the very activity they just mocked.

I'd add Agenda 21 and Codex Alimentarius. I don't believe them to be CT as you can read official documents on the UN and WHO sites but most people believe they are CT.

I don't think we should trust every little thing our government does but I don't believe we should come up with a reason why our government did everything either. There's a difference between questioning our government and blaming every big event that happens on our government.

I fully agree with you. I think if things seem hinky then it should be questioned. But I don't think that everything is the governments fault. I just think it's prudent to look at these things and let people make their own informed decisions.

I don't actually think that 9/11 was some big government conspiracy, but I do think that some mistakes were made. So I think it's prudent that it's (or was) investigated. I don't think it's fair to call all citizen's that have questions or suspicions part of the tin foil hat crowd. . .just because "our" government wouldn't do that. KWIM

Ok, many meaning about 15--what does it have to do with today-I was just pointing out that there is a lot of stuff that goes on that we have no knowledge of, probably every day, and it is easily covered up.

Sure things are covered up everyday. But there is a difference between covering up little things and 9/11. Seriously, it is hard to comprehend how many people would have to be involved in a 9/11 cover up and how much would have to go into it.

I think being religious is ENTIRELY different then believing that the government is covering something up. Why do I sense that you put this here just to stir up some trouble since it really has little to do with the thread. Honestly, how do you even know those who mock conspiracy theorists go to church?

I don't believe in conspiracy theories. Some conspiracy theories, such as the moon landing, would require not only the cooperation of the US government but also the cooperation of our enemies. The USSR closely tracked the Apollo missions and would have blown our cover long ago had the moon landing been a hoax.

As for 9/11, I know people who lost loved ones that day in the plane that hit the Pentagon. During planning for the Iraq War, the Pentagon and CIA were leaking like a sieve. Wouldn't members of the military blow the whistle on an attack on our own armed forces? Besides, the 9/11 attack strategy---using aircraft as flying bombs---was not new. Algerian militants attempted an attack on Paris in the late 1990s, but the plot was thwarted when French commandos stormed the plane in Marseille.

Another point re: 9/11. If it had been an inside job, then why didn't Kerry, Clinton, Obama or some other prominent Democrat try to expose the Bush administration during the 2004 elections? Are we to suppose that they were in on the conspiracy too? Was it a bi-partisan conspiracy?

But none of those things were secrets.
They were things that occurred over time, that perhaps all other governments in the world "missed" or didn't want to get involved in or whatever. But they weren't really secrets.

In the case of 9/11, there would have to be a huge number of people involved to pull it off....do you think thatmany people could keep that much of a secret for this many years? I just don't think it's possible.

Wait, I know what happened. It's all perfectly clear now. All the 9/11 co-conspirators (except of course for the few puppet masters at the top) were the passengers on the planes that crashed. Barbara Olsen, wife of the Solicitor General of the US. I rest my case!

The masterminds somehow convinced them all to be on the four hijacked flights that morning. It was a master stroke of genius! Carry out the grand conspiracy AND knock off the vast majority of fellow conspirators so they could not talk and expose the conspiracy.

But look at thos countires! Those are all countries that the US has fought wars against for various reasons. Those are all countires that were under terrible regimes when those acts happened. The United States is in a different league then all of those countries above. I don't think you can compare the US to Nazi germany or Soviet Russia AT ALL.

I think everyone can agree that governments have and can kill thousands, BUT governments like Hitler's and Stalin's. We are not talking about Democracies when we are talking about countries that have purposely killed thousands.

The United States has never been at war with the Soviet Union, nor Cambodia.

And Germany had a democratic, parliamentary form of government when Hitler rose to power. It was after elections and his appointment that he managed to morph it into a fascist government with himself as dictator.

So no, they are not all countries we were at war with, and they did not all start out as terrible regimes.

The only problem I have with your logic is that you left out the words "our own" from the PPs sentence.

Govt's are not interchangeable and by rewording a sentence you have completely changed the meaning. So what has "our own" govt done - not Nazi's, Khmer Rouge etc.... No apples & oranges please.

And please - the Revolutionary War is what made it possible for you to have this discussion so comparing it to atrocities that were perpatrated by the Nazi & Khmer Rouge is utterly ridiculous.

I never compared our civil war to those examples of genocide. They were simply historical examples of atrocities carried out by governments against their own people.

As far as "our" government. . .there have been crimes. . .

The internment of Japanese citizens during WWII
The Tuskegee syphilis experiment
The hinky CIA Contra drug trafficking debacle
The many crimes against Native Americans, which included forced sterilization.


Again, I just think it's arrogant and maybe ethnocentric to think that "our" government is somehow immune to any possible wrong doing, in the past, or potentially in the future.

Look how it's come out that Pres. Roosevelt KNEW the planes were coming from Japan to Pearl Harbor, yet he didn't do anything to stop it. Why, you ask? because he needed a good reason to drop the bomb on them and end the war in one swoop. And it worked.

Everything comes out over time.

The Peatrl Harbor attack occured in 1941 and the atomic bomb was not successfully invented until 1945. There was no way that Roosevelt would have even known that the US would be the first to get the bomb. Germany and Japan had their own atomic weapons programs. And the war did not end in "one swoop." Millions of people, including hundreds of thousands of Americans, died between December 1941 and August 1945.

I mock conspiracy theorist and I do not discriminate. I will mock a christian too if they try to sell me on GOD. I don't believe in ghosts, aliens, or god. Show me some proof, of any of it and we can talk.

No, there has been speculation that Roosevelt wanted us in the war. He knew that Pearl harbor was going to be bombed, intelligence gathered showed it was coming but he did not warn the base. One of the reasons given has been the economy. War was great for getting us out of the Depression.

I was under the impression that it was a reason to get into the war in Europe and a way to pull the Soviet Union in with the allies. I know their was some secret meetings and pacts between Stalin and Hitler as to the divvying up of Europe after the war. I'm not sure if the timeline supports that. . .but I remember discussing it in a Soviet history class in college.

My head hurts just reading this thread...

In general, I'm not a big fan of conspiracy theories. My own life experience has shown me that people can be horrible and do terrible things to each other and can be wonderful and do magnificant things. What I haven't found people to be very good at is organizing massive amounts of people to do something complicated and then to keep it quiet. So, in general, I'm more likely to believe that some people who hate us wanted to commit a terrorist act rather than our own government wanting to... ummm... what? Kill a lot of Americans and get into war because... why? I haven't figured that out yet.

The one things that DOES get me really upset, though, is the pseudo-science and just simply wrong scince being thrown around with the moon landing and 9/11 conspiracies.
I am an engineer, and everything I've seen about both of those events are certainly physically possible. Even more than that, how stupid would the "puppet masters" have to be to plan these huge, elaborate events - years in the making - and NOT get the physics correct? That should be the easy part - way easier than silencing thousands of unwitting participants. You don't think someone would have said "aw crap, we got the shadowing wrong in that moon scene - let's do a retake." or "humm... I don't think that particular 'terrorist attack' is physically possible, let's pick another."?

I'm pretty sure Christians believe God is also the holy ghost. Scientologists believe the evil alien Xenu enslaved people, blew them up in a volcano, and their ghostly remains haunt non-believers (and those short on cash) to this day.

Doesn't seem like anyone is being rude here.
