Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

It was -26 when I left the house this morning, and -31 by the time we got to the high school. I dropped my son off early...the basketball team is flying to Kodiak, Alaska to play. -20's I can be out in, for awhile. -30 and colder is really too cold to do anything outside, and stuff starts breaking (like plumbing, cars, etc.) This is not usual even for here. People who've lived here 20+ years are saying it is the longest lasting cold snap they remember. We've had colder (-43 was the record at our house) but it only lasted a couple of days, and that was 10 years ago.

On the way home, I saw a clear view of Mt. McKinley, in Denali. So I stopped to get a picture. We also saw 7 moose on the way in.

On a clear day, I can see it from just down the street ("I can see McKinley from my house.") Does that sound like SP? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That's a beautiful shot, Deb!

Good afternoon guys

Hi there! Getting up that early sounds brutal. Ugh. Hope you don't get sick, I'm sending you go away germ vibes.

*waving!!!* I've missed you guys!

I'm checking in with an air cast/pain meds/broken big toe/severely sprained ankle and pain meds. Yes, on the second day of school my true love gave to me, a big box to carry and a step I missed and fell. Ok, so my singing skills aren't up to par. Blame the pain meds.
.....................
OK, please fill me in on 60 pages! I got left about page 95. I see we're on 153! I have been on the couch or in bed most of this time, but my vision seems to have gone with the pain pills, so booting up the laptop wasn't on my list. Be creative, be funny, cry if you must, but someone please FILL ME IN! :)

Good grief! That sounds like something I would do. I'm sorry you damaged yourself. Heal quick.

Okay so the last 60 pages....ummmm...well that's a lot to cover. You know the rule. Just jump in where ya land.

i think you're right...nice for the girls, but it is curious...do presidents have to pay room and board while in the white house i wonder? 'cause if she didn't live with them before, i'm not about to feed her face now with my taxes.

as for saturday night live, i picture the scene from psycho when they turn the chair around and mother is...well...ya know. :scared1:

Does this mean the taxpayers are ponying up for Secret Service agents for her? I always admired Nixon for eventually taking himself off the public dole and paying for his own security.

i really hadn't thought about it before, but it'd be nice to know. 'cause i've got my own home and meals to take care of; i have no intention of supporting grammybama.

I think this is not going to be our choice.

But, on a brighter note: I am loving that another elected official, Sheila Dixon Mayor of Baltimore, was indicted for stealing gift cards given for the poor, among other things. Needless to say, Ms. Dixon is an Obama supporter. (Anyway, per her website photos, she is.) This sort of reminded me of the Blago speech today where he was all about "the people".

mrsdon, I sent you a PM.

Basically, I fell down the LAST step on a stairway. I tucked and rolled and was unscathed, except for my right foot/ankle. I finished the day, embarrassed and thinking that positive thinking would make it go away. I hobbled to my grad class, where a kind policeman took pity on my middle aged hobbling and drove me across campus. The next morning I found out I couldn't even hobble. I couldn't even get out a "hop". I was down for the count.

DH took me to the ER and I got the diagnosis. I used up half my sick days as WC doesn't take affect until day 8. I didn't want to go to day eight anyways so during my checkup yesterday I hobbled a bit more than I should have, but I WANT BACK!

You're allowed to giggle when you read this, as DH has always called me GRACE. The irony of the whole thing is the teacher who had the front end of the box we were carrying asked me if she was going too fast. I said no, I just didn't know the depth of the step.........

As I said the word STEP, my foot missed most of it and rolled around it throwing me forward. ARGHHHH!

OK, please fill me in on 60 pages! I got left about page 95. I see we're on 153! Ouch. Since a fall like that could have been much worse, I'm glad that you are as ok as you are. You sound like my mother, she's a school teacher and has wound up in the ER before after missing a step or two at school.

:rotfl2:

I'll give it to Ben Affleck. Even though he's a hardcore Democrat, he's not a raving liberal like so many other people are. Then again, that's my perspective.

However, with SNL's sketches, the conservatives are very often the ones who come off like idiots. They do get it right sometimes, though. The 2000 elections were perfect, in my opinion. During 2004, they could have been a little fairer, but during 2008, especially after the primaries, it was pretty bad.

Okay, I really needed the duct tape today listening to Glenn's show. It seems that there is a small town in Alabama with a population of 194 people of which almost 29% live below the poverty line(this is a similar poverty rate to Nepal). The town wants its share of the stimulus package to the tune of $375 million or about $2 million per resident!::scared1:

This will be spent on "green" technology like:
  1. Solar powered street lights:headache:
  2. Solar panels for city hall
  3. Recharging stations for electric cars and golf carts so residents can recharge their electric vehicles:rolleyes:
  4. $54.4 million will go for water pipelines beneath the roads to soak up the sun's rays and transfer the heat. This technology is currently being tried out in the Netherlands, which found that while the cost of installation was double that of normal gas heating, the system half the amount of energy required.:scared:

The mayor was quoted as saying "Do you know how hard it is to fund some of these projects when your tax base is so low?" So he jumped at the stimulus since their will be an emphasis on green tech and renewable energy.

I swear that common sense is dead!

:sad2:
I saw that article when I checked his website this morning.:sad2: Common sense isn't TOTALLY dead- it lives on in us and some guy named Glenn Beck :rotfl2: , but other than that it pretty much is.:sad2:

and he's got HOPE that we won't CHANGE the channel.
:lmao:

i really hadn't thought about it before, but it'd be nice to know. 'cause i've got my own home and meals to take care of; i have no intention of supporting grammybama.

Hello my fellow GOP peeps. I saw this photo on *gasp* Drudge and it bothers me greatly. Anyone else?

Talk about arrogance. Am I the only one?

OMG! I found this on Glenn's site and nearly died laughing! :rotfl: It's sadly the truth though-
