Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

WTH? The Gov't has been telling us for 2 YEARS we'd have to switch to Digitil. If people still aren't ready, too bad for them. I think a 2 YEAR warning is plenty. Oh, and did I mention we had 2 YEARS!

The people that aren't ready are the same people that whine when April 15th rolls around that they haven't had time to file their taxes. :sad2:

24 hour Obama channel. We have 2 already, CNN & MSNBC.

People don't listen to anything. They don't want to be productive and do anything. It's too hard of work for them to do so. Face it, our society is becoming more lazy and more self-entitled by the year. It is really sad.

Well they were being really nice and contributing nicely to the conversation.:)

Ok.

I'm pretty sure it's lobster tail - anyway, it's the surf part. BLAH! Can't stand it, and allergic. Makes my eyes swell and my throat itch. ;)

I'll take the turf though everday of the week and twice on Sunday :rolleyes1

Pass me the lobster tail, I'll have no problem polishing it off for you.

Soarin', I think it's very admirable to see someone of your age have such strong convictions, especially when they go against the grain of your generation. Keep that fighting spirit in all your endeavors and you will go far in life.:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Passion for your convictions is a quality I wish more people (young and old) displayed. (Hope it is okay for me to join in the discussion. I usually just read the comments, but Soarin's post was so "from the heart", it really impressed me.)

I think everyone's had more than enough time to prepare for this transition. I agree, no more money!

Is that consistent enough for ya? ;)

Oh my gosh, my local news stations have been drilling it into our brains non-stop for the past year. If anyone has been unprepared for it, then it's their own fault. We cannot afford to extend this thing any longer.

Hey everyone, just dropping by and taking a peek. I have two more days of sleeping 'til noon before I have to go back to school, so I figured I would enjoy it.

Oh, and Soarin, you rock!! It's encouraging to see people our age stand up for Conservative principles. I actually feel the same way you do, except I came in after the election, and was looking for some conservative voices to turn to. I don't have a horrible outlook about the next four years. I think our Constitution prevents such a sweeping change to happen, but I have a strange feeling I will be proven wrong. I'm just hoping for another Conservative revolution, and a new Great Awakening of sorts. However, no matter what happens, God's in control, and this shall all be made right in the end.

It's more than okay. Welcome aboard!!

ITA!!!!!

If Soarin was a little younger I would hook her up with my cons brother. ;)

Ummm...I'm doing a Disney Birthday Party ::MickeyMo

Of sorts...for me :rolleyes1

And on the subject of food, I'm good at cooking for 2 people. I love having a boyfriend to cook for. I have a hard time cooking for just myself. I eat a lot of mac & cheese and pasta that way. I find it easier to make things for 2 or more. With maybe some leftovers, which he takes to work for lunch....and steals my tupperware :sad2:

Ya gotta buy the cheapo ones you get in the ziplock bag aisle. :thumbsup2 Or better yet, make him buy them. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Gotta train him up right.

No bomb was found at the high school, like I thought, but my DS said they made everyone stay locked in all day, and pretty much nothing happened all day. They did move the basketball practice to a different location.

Ugh. I hate lockdowns. Used to happen pretty regularly at my kids' old schools in Tacoma. Over there it was usually not a bomb threat, it was usually someone threatening to shoot someone else. Or actually doing it (that happened a few months after we pulled our kids and moved, at the high school my daughter had been attending).

Too funny about the moose, btw. Made me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i_hceeCy9I

:lmao: I love Arlo Guthrie. I have that poem on my MP3 player. The version I have has him talking about mooses before hand...saying they are coming down from Canada into Massachusetts, and that it never used to be a problem before NAFTA. "I'm not sayin there's a connection or nothin'...I'm just sayin. One day NAFTA, next day...MOOSES." Probably not so funny typed...but it's pretty funny to listen to. That man is a crackup.

somehow I doubt I'd get much of a reference from anyone on this thread :rotfl: I'm using my bosses from the Obama campaign and a few clients in media as references for TWDC

Awwww! You'd get a good reference from me. :goodvibes I may vehemently disagree with you on some things, but heck I vehemently disagree with half my friends and family on some things and I still love them.

Well enjoyable lib, you are now a member of our thread family.:goodvibes I propose a toast to welcome Rob to our thread- may all other libs follow his example and feel free to come over and visit-

champagne_toast.jpg

Cheers. But do be careful about those sweeping invitations. :lmao:

I wouldn't know- I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show.:rotfl: It's my best friend Lisa's favorite movie though so I suppose I should borrow it from her and watch it.

OOOOOoooohhh no no no no no.

Secondly....in order to gain the full appreciation and love for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, you must attend a viewing in full dress, complete with your duffel bag of supplies. To watch the DVD in the solace of your home without the "FESTOONERY" of the atmosphere would not do anything but leave you wondering what was so spectacular about this film??

Exactly. Even if you don't dress up, you MUST go to the midnight movies and see it in a theater. Otherwise, don't bother.

New Liberal DIS rule: If what a person says doesn't match your stereotyped conclusions about them, ignore what they actually say and make up your own "facts".

I buy the cheap-o Wegmans brand ones. I had about 10 containers 4 months ago when we started dating. I'm down to 1. I know he has them all. They're all clean and piled in his cabinet. He's stolen them from me. Maybe he intends on cooking for me? :rotfl:

Morning, Cons and pr-surfer. ;)

Oh, and RHPS is one of my favorite movies but I've never been to the theater to see it. I first saw it when I was 13 (thank you 19 YO step-aunt LOL).

I don't get the Burris thing. They are saying that a Senator has never been seated without the Sec of State signing the appointment, but now the IL SC has said White doesn't have to sign it.:confused3

Okay, I really needed the duct tape today listening to Glenn's show. It seems that there is a small town in Alabama with a population of 194 people of which almost 29% live below the poverty line(this is a similar poverty rate to Nepal). The town wants its share of the stimulus package to the tune of $375 million or about $2 million per resident!::scared1:

This will be spent on "green" technology like:
  1. Solar powered street lights:headache:
  2. Solar panels for city hall
  3. Recharging stations for electric cars and golf carts so residents can recharge their electric vehicles:rolleyes:
  4. $54.4 million will go for water pipelines beneath the roads to soak up the sun's rays and transfer the heat. This technology is currently being tried out in the Netherlands, which found that while the cost of installation was double that of normal gas heating, the system half the amount of energy required.:scared:

The mayor was quoted as saying "Do you know how hard it is to fund some of these projects when your tax base is so low?" So he jumped at the stimulus since their will be an emphasis on green tech and renewable energy.

I swear that common sense is dead!

:sad2:

Hello everyone - you all were a talkative bunch last night!

Tink...beautiful family photo. Your baby is adorable.:goodvibes

Soarin...I'm so glad to hear about the 'new guy!' Sounds like DH and me...we would talk on the phone for hours and hours (this was before the days of texting!)

No bomb was found at the high school, like I thought, but my DS said they made everyone stay locked in all day, and pretty much nothing happened all day. They did move the basketball practice to a different location.

DH is exhausted. He's had to get up every night in the middle of the night to go run his car, to make sure it starts in the morning. He's beat from doing it all week, and all last week too.

Oldest DS is housesitting for a family that lives on 80 acres way out in the boonies. It was about 2:00 a.m., and he heard scrunching in the snow, and someone was knocking on the window. He grabbed a shotgun that they homeowner had, and went to investigate. Turns out it was a moose eating a tree branch, and the tree branch was touching the window and was making a tapping sound.

Oh...and my oldest son also bought his first car today! After looking around for a few weeks, for a 'cool' used car, and realizing there are a lot of dishonest people out there, he found what he called an 'old person's car' :rotfl2: ...a Ford Taurus wagon. I told him I thought it would be great for camping gear, or basketball stuff, or his dog...so he thought about it and decided to buy it.
I hope your DS loves his new car! How warm is it today? I was hearing that middle Alaska is now down to -60. Is that true? Holy cow that's cold. Can you even go outside in that weather?

You know how sometimes TV stations will accidently morph two commercials together? Over the election season, one station ran the ad about digital broadcasting and just as it ended we heard, "I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message." My son thought that was hilarious.

So now people are trying to extend it? WHY? Like Ward said - we have had plenty of time.

:thumbsup2 Passion for your convictions is a quality I wish more people (young and old) displayed. (Hope it is okay for me to join in the discussion. I usually just read the comments, but Soarin's post was so "from the heart", it really impressed me.)
I agree. Soarin's a keeper.

Welcome to the thread!!

I finished Glenn's book last night and honestly, I was so disturbed! I really like him and agree with what he has to say, but oh my, I don't know if I want to hear it.

Have a great day today!
