Conservative thread: We're still smiling!

It's nearly 4am here in MS but I can't sleep..... here's why-

I was searching through some of our old threads when I found our posts from Election Night. I don't know why, but I read them. Each and every one of them, word for word, line for line. And cried just like I did that night, which stands out as the single worst night of 2008 and one of the worst in my whole life.

With 11 days to go till the Inauguration, reality is finally sinking in- it took long enough, but it has. On November 5th, January 20th seemed like ages away. Look how fast time has gone by. Election Day seems like years ago, when it really was just barely two months ago. Obama as POTUS doesn't really seem permanent till he takes the oath of office on the 20th.... and at 12:01pm EST, it will be permanent till 1/20/13. I honestly am getting scared again. I relaxed after Election Day and tried to push the pending Inauguration out of my mind, but the closer it gets to that day, the more I CAN'T get it out of my mind.

I know I'm young. This was my first presidential election. I never dreamed that the first time I voted for our nation's leader, this outcome would happen. 2008 changed me in so many ways- it made me realize that if I want change, I don't need Obama's empty promises of supposed change. I've worked political science classes into my plans in college- I plan on someday starting a political career for myself and fighting for everything that we want as conservatives. The only way we'll get anything done in our nation is if we trust in two people- God and ourselves.

If it hadn't been for three things, I would not have survived last year. I know I met you guys in October, but the time I spent with you all in the month before the election took place helped me tremendously. I was so glad to find a large group of conservatives just like me, people who shared my thoughts and ideas and opinions and didn't criticize me for what I believe in. I owe every single conservative who has ever posted on our threads a huge THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I love every one of you very much and don't see how I'd have made it without y'all's constant love, support, and prayers.

You all know who the next person who pulled me through is. I began following the presidential campaigns in January, and out of every program I watched on TV following the presidential race, only one stood out and made me say "I agree with you 100%. Why can't everyone think this way?" That was Glenn's show on CNN, of course. I followed the race all last year through him and only him last year. It was after the elections were over and Obama was elected POTUS that my devotion to Glenn really deepened, though, strangely enough. I'm not really sure why. But I'm glad it did.

And of course, the third person who helped me was our Heavenly Father. Without my faith in Him, I would have given up a long time ago. He gives me strength when I am weak and has always pulled me safely through life's storms- I owe everything to Him.

I have this dream that in 2012, we'll elect Glenn to office (after watching Unelectable, I see that he truly is one of the few completely ELECTABLE people on the planet) with Governor Jindal as the VP. I know that's a crazy dream, but it's how I feel. I am so tired of conservatives being mocked and ridiculed. I'm so ready for us to rise to the top and take this country back- if we all work together, that will happen in 2012 beyond a shadow of a doubt. You know it and I know it.

I've wanted to post something like this for awhile now- I just never could find the heart to do so. But now, at 4:10am in my dorm room at a small college in a small town in Mississippi, I am going to post this.

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH for being here. I have grown to love you all and this thread deeply. When I start my CM job, I can't wait to give every one of my fellow cons who comes to see me a big  and a "Thanks for being here."

I love you all, my fellow conservatives. Very very much.

I wouldn't know- I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show.:rotfl: It's my best friend Lisa's favorite movie though so I suppose I should borrow it from her and watch it.

 'Night!!

And once again.... I've been abandoned.:sad2:

Ok first off...I enjoyed your previous post (not the quote, the one right above me). You give me hope that all is not lost on your generation.

Secondly....in order to gain the full appreciation and love for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, you must attend a viewing in full dress, complete with your duffel bag of supplies. To watch the DVD in the solace of your home without the "FESTOONERY" of the atmosphere would not do anything but leave you wondering what was so spectacular about this film??

DITTO. The viewing of the RHPS must also occur at the traditional time of MIDNIGHT. Ahh.,,memories of slices of toast flying through the air, bags of rice, water guns and newspaper.

Soarin', you're doing it right. If you don't like the way things are, arm yourself with the skills you need and work to make things better. I know it's got to be frustrating at your age, when so many people are buying into the liberal philosophy, but you will find other young people like you. (sounds like you may already have....;) ) Keep the faith, things will turn around.

You are so sweet! I'm hoping to get down to WDW sometime this spring, probably in April or early May, and I am def going to come see you and give you a hug. How long is your CP for?

don't forget the hot dogs and decks of cards. :) One of my teachers in high school was mortified by the fact that her son always dressed up as Tim Curry's character every year. We had one annual showing at the community center where I grew up. We had a few hundred people show up, which, in a town of only one high school with about 800 students total...thats quite a bit.

I never dressed up, but one of my friends ALWAYS did. It was just too funny. Of course, my parents were horrified when the found out what was really going on at that movie.

Have you guys seen this yet? This is from the Washington Post and it is about Palin - so, of course, there is a negative slant to it.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28573074

I loved the last line:

On his Web site, Ziegler says that when Palin saw a picture of MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, "she literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, 'THAT guy is EVIL!' "

:lmao: I really love Palin and 100% agree with that assessment! :thumbsup2

Soarin, I hope you know how much you bring to this group. Getting to know you has been a pleasure. Seeing such an enthusiatic, young conservative like you is a breath of fresh air. It helps to know we haven't lost everyone to the MTV culture. It's young people like you who are the real hope and future of this country. You are a very valuable addition to this group and I'm so glad you found us.

A young, Glenn Beck and Disney loving conservative... it just does not get better than that! :thumbsup2

Dolce, hehehe - too funny, I agree with her assessment too. ;)

Grog, this one's for you!!! ;)

From the Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama is urging Congress to postpone the Feb. 17 switch from analog to digital television broadcasting, arguing that too many Americans who rely on analog TV sets to pick up over-the-air channels won't be ready.

...

His proposal to push off the transition, however, is running into some resistance, particularly among Republicans.

Meredith Attwell Baker, head of the NTIA, said the Bush administration opposes a postponement since the government and industry have "invested so much in preparing for this date."

A delay, she said, "would create uncertainty, frustration and confusion among consumers."

Baker added that the current administration wants to instead focus on quickly fixing the problems facing the coupon program to meet last-minute demand ahead of the Feb. 17 cutoff. The NTIA is asking for another $250 million in funding for the program.

Meanwhile, Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, the top Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, insisted there is no need to "bail out" the digital transition program because the NTIA can send out more coupons as unredeemed ones expire.

"Ditching the deadline and slathering on more millions of taxpayer dollars ... is just panic," he said in a statement.

...

One organization that opposes the proposal is the wireless industry's main trade group, CTIA - The Wireless Association, which counts Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless among its members. Those two companies emerged as top bidders in the federal auction of much of the wireless spectrum being freed up by the digital transition.

The Consumer Electronics Association, too, opposes a delay.

"First responders urgently need the analog spectrum, as do innovators waiting to deploy innovative new wireless broadband services," said Gary Shapiro, who heads the group.

I think everyone's had more than enough time to prepare for this transition. I agree, no more money!

Is that consistent enough for ya? ;)

Ugh. I'm sick of hearing those commercials. And sick of my Nana calling me and asking if she's going to lose her signal (she has cable, so she's fine.)

There's been plenty of warning. If people haven't gotten of their rear-ends and gotten it taken care of already, then it's their problem to deal with. Why was there a government coupon program to begin with anyway?

Because TV is a necessity, don't ya know??

Next thing we'll be buying them all new tv's and paying for their cable and satellite bills.

You don't want to pay $20 for a converter? Get a radio.

Well we have a midnight showing of RHPS every year on Halloween at the theater in our town so I'll go this year with my best friend.

Soarin - I think we are the coolest thread here. At one time I think it was Ward dubbed a Cons thread in the past "The Coolest Thread On The Dis". :thumbsup2. I think we all came together during the election, and really helped each other out when we where feeling badly. I think that's awesome! We are here for you Soarin whenever you need to vent. And anyone else for that matter. :goodvibes We're pretty consistent like that. ;)

Oh! and LOL on the cheating on Glenn comment, FFM. :rotfl2:

I think everyone's had more than enough time to prepare for this transition. I agree, no more money!

Is that consistent enough for ya? ;)

ITA!

 Maybe he is afraid no one will get that 24 hour Obama channel. :rolleyes1

Are you ready? popcorn::

WTH? The Gov't has been telling us for 2 YEARS we'd have to switch to Digitil. If people still aren't ready, too bad for them. I think a 2 YEAR warning is plenty. Oh, and did I mention we had 2 YEARS!

The people that aren't ready are the same people that whine when April 15th rolls around that they haven't had time to file their taxes. :sad2:

24 hour Obama channel. We have 2 already, CNN & MSNBC.
