it was so exciting, but you are preparing now, aren't you? with very little time? same sorta excitement. i always keep my disney clothing pressed and hanging in the closet...just in case the travel fairy arrives.

My parents have tried preparing and mapping out an itinerary but so far....:lmao: We've got five days and nothing prepared. Let's hope we come up with something between now and Tuesday!

i've gone on two-day notice, but HAD to book the hotel via telephone. i was fun...get's the adrenaline going.

I think it would be rather fun to just wake up one morning and say "I'm going to go to WDW the day after tomorrow.";) The mad dash to make preparations would be kinda exhilarating.:rotfl:

IF this trip happens for me it will be one of those deals where we make the call tonight after supper, and then leave tomorrow morning right after we get the kids on the bus for school.

Prolly so. I apologize.:) Grrr I always make myself feel like an idiot.....:sad2:

Do not... I repeat, do not... beat yourself up for stuff like that. For all the wonder of the internet, it remains an imperfect and often-frustrating form of communication.

Well so far, the only trip preparation I've done is get out my suitcase.;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: maybe you'll wing it this time....i haven't every tried wdw that way, but maybe it would be a new experience that way.

i'm so envious of everybody going for Christmas!

Well you better get packing! So you haven't figured yet which parks might work best for you guys on which days? That's one thing I always do. I'm not real big on ADRs although I do make one or two for each trip.

doesn't look like a very big "if" to me. problee need to turn that into a "when". :teeth:

that is because, as we all know, the internet was invented by a democrat...al gore...so it will never be perfect, only more expensive.

Definitely do it! A few weeks ago, I surprised my wife with a very last minute trip to Manhattan after she saw one of our favorite restaurants on TV and mentioned how much she missed our old life there during this time of the year. That was on Friday morning and by Friday afternoon, I booked 3 nights and got reservations at the very restaurant she was talking about. When we got home from work that day, I told her we were leaving in the morning and she flipped! Since then, I've been promoted to "superstar" status around the house, even higher, for once, then the kids and our 2 dogs! The only thing better than the anticipation of a trip is no anticipation at all.

We always wing it and it turns out to be a DISaster! :scared: No plans, just go, is usually how we do it.... everyone ends up mad at each other by the end of the day.:rotfl:

We have ADRs for Garden Grill on Christmas night. We're thinking AK Wednesday, DHS Christmas Day, MK Friday, and Epcot Satuday.

That sounds awesome!

Yeah, I know that if I can pull this thing off I'll be the "Mac Daddy" around the house at least through the winter. It's that dang niggling practicality that overtakes my romantic side sometimes that stands in the way.

wow...you are brave! i had a spreadsheet. a very retentive little spreadsheet. it included the things i expected to be doing AND alternatives in case of unforseen circumstances. (by the way, i'm not certain whether or not others do this too, but if we weren't certain where we'd be or where we'd want to dine, i would make one ADR under my name and an alternate under the boyfriend's name. when we decided we'd call to cancel one.)

Yeah, I've got a poster of LOG hanging in my office. I look at it everyday and with starry-eyed wonder breathlessly say to myself, "Some day I'll be cool like that guy." The poster looks something like this...

I offered to do a spreadsheet but my dad said no. He'd rather do it all himself.... and organized he is not!:rotfl: My sister does not want to go, and when she doesn't want to do something.... she does everything in her power to ruin everyone else's good time. I honestly want to strangle that girl 99.9% of the time (and she's almost 17!).

Yup, always start with the spreadsheet. Then cut and paste the park hours into it, work out roughly where best to be for morning, afternoon and evening accounting for early entry, magic hours, fantasmic etc. Then overlay adrs for one main meal per day, lunch or dinner.
We have DVC, annual passes, dde card and a vacation home on the Gulf Coast so we generally spend three to five days at the World each trip and usually make three or four trips to Florida each year. It is amazing how often a family member is able to get away and join us!
For our January trip we had to waitlist for the three nights we wanted but they came through eventually.
