::yes::

Ahhh, but I said I wasn't talking about anyone here on the Dis.

Hey ff - looks like I'll be in your US neck of the woods soon. I love Bradenton. My favorite golf course is University Park (I think it's technically in Sarasota), but they do have one strike against them - no dog at the turn. What's up with that?

Not a golfer but know the area well. If the golf course is north of University Parkway it is in Manatee County, south it is in Sarasota County.
We can highly recommend a small restaurant near there, the Lazy Lobster. Going west from I75 on University Parkway, right into N Lockwood Ridge Road, continue about half a mile along, it is on the left in a small strip mall opposite the gorgeous Greek Orthodox Church.

As I mentioned earlier, my big deal is to decide which park is best for me to be in on which day. I don't plan much beyond that.

me too, but i always add information like, "get fast pass for safari" or "last nemo show at ...." and in november, i definitely avoid the super soap weekend at dhs. gad zooks that's a frightening thing! :scared:

We can't ever GO to WS because my 8yo brother finds it boring- except for that train set over there in Germany, I believe it is- he'll stand there watching it for an hour!:lmao:

I LOVE THOSE TRAINS TOO!!!!!!!!! i'd be standing there with your bro.

I know what you're talking about. I used to live in Tampa and am very familiar with that area. I always loved it down there in that part of FL!!!

I was just sitting here thinking I could have a repeat of last night again tonight..... *sigh*

:thumbsup2 I've never tried the Lazy Lobster. One of my favorite restaurants in the area is the Beachhouse. I  their cuban sandwich and the view of course. Usually I cook when we're down there - big surprise, right? So we only go out a couple times - I'll have to recommend it to the fam. Thanks.

My parents house is in Heritage Harbor, so I like the golf course there too, but not as well as University....but it does have dogs at the turn, so that helps.

IMO, there's nothing more beautiful than a golf course and nothing tastier than a dog at the turn. :teeth:

Our church offers a free in-house Christmas card delivery service between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They tweens and youth groups sponsor it, and this year they have been inundated with cards to deliver. I peeked in the sorting room yesterday and there were hundreds and hundreds of cards yet to be delivered!

One cool side story on that: It has come to my attention that many people are using this delivery service as a way to send cash anonymously to other families in the church who are out of work or otherwise under financial stress. There is a whole lot of joy going on here right now.

That is just a wonderful thing! I know there is a lot of hardship going on this year, but sometimes that brings out the best in people, and it is just beautiful to see people stepping up to look out for one another. I love it.

I think it would be rather fun to just wake up one morning and say "I'm going to go to WDW the day after tomorrow.";) The mad dash to make preparations would be kinda exhilarating.:rotfl:

My ex-FIL used to wake up in the morning and decide he was going to Reno...TODAY. We lived with them for a couple of years. I remember many mornings, him coming out of the bedroom and telling my ex-MIL "Get packed, we're going to Reno." She'd madly take care of everything that needed handling before they left, throw stuff in a suitcase and they'd be on the road by noon. :lmao: He didn't have a regular type job, he was a fisherman and owned a machine shop (made commercial longline gear). Sometimes she'd have to scramble to make sure someone would be getting orders out or picked up from the galvanizer or whatever...but they always made it happen by noon!

doesn't look like a very big "if" to me. problee need to turn that into a "when". :teeth:

that is because, as we all know, the internet was invented by a democrat...al gore...so it will never be perfect, only more expensive.

:rotfl:

Definitely do it! A few weeks ago, I surprised my wife with a very last minute trip to Manhattan after she saw one of our favorite restaurants on TV and mentioned how much she missed our old life there during this time of the year. That was on Friday morning and by Friday afternoon, I booked 3 nights and got reservations at the very restaurant she was talking about. When we got home from work that day, I told her we were leaving in the morning and she flipped! Since then, I've been promoted to "superstar" status around the house, even higher, for once, then the kids and our 2 dogs! The only thing better than the anticipation of a trip is no anticipation at all.

How neat! :goodvibes

Zip- That would be so neat if it worked out for you to go. So, uh, which hotel did you book? ;)

I CANNOT believe that this is what schools are calling a holiday concert.... :sad2:

idiotic. freakin idiotic.

i see santa and his spouse were allowed to stand in the corner. touching. but 12/25 isn't TREEMAS day, it is CHRISTMAS day. seriously, even i recognize the birth of Christ, and unless history has it all wrong, he probably didn't go around wearing a big red suit and he probably wasn't a tree.

Wasn't a tree or treehugger, I don't believe. Pretty sure the beatitudes don't contain "Blessed are they who drive hybrid cars" or "Blessed are those who scream at everyone that don't believe in global warming" or "Blessed are those who don't believe in Me or my Father". :rotfl:

I'm in your neck of the woods until the 25th. DH asked today about cost of DL tickets...please please please.
If my boss pays me full amount and on time  , we might can go.

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!! MICKEY. MOUSE. CLUB!!!!!!!!

i noticed airfare on southwest (through the "ding" rss feed) is $49 each way, from san jose to santa ana. soooo hard to resist.

Alas, that dream is going to have to be on hold. DW and I can't just quite seem to drop everything at the last minute right now. :upsidedow

Hey Tink, you're missing out on lotsa snow. I know you're heartbroken.

Honugirl, how much do you have now? It's 25* over here and it has been snowing hard off and on all day. We have something life six inches on the ground out there now. It looks really strange inside my house today, because my skylights are buried under six inches of snow. Here's a few pics. Sorry, I would have taken more interesting pictures with my kids playing in it, but they refuse to go back out there. :lmao: They went out, got cold, came back in for cocoa, and are DONE with it for today. You do get to see Max, though. Max loves snow.

It is beautiful. I love snow. It is particularly beautiful since I don't have to go out in it. We made it to the grocery store yesterday when there was only an inch on the ground and the roads were just wet. I picked up bread for sandwiches, and frozen stuff that can go in the toaster oven if the weight of the snow takes out trees or branches, which in turn take out the power. The gen can run the toaster oven, but can't run the range. :thumbsup2 Well it CAN, but only if that is the only thing it is running, and we kinda like being able to have the well pump and lights on.

The only sad part is that we were supposed to be doing the Great Baking Extravaganza today and tomorrow, and that isn't gonna happen. My best friend absolutely does NOT drive in snow, and my mother isn't crazy enough to cross the Narrows (and the Purdy bridge and sandspit, not to mention twisty curvy crazy Hwy 302) to get to my house. Can't imagine why not. Haha...

Max is a noser-dozer. He pushes the snow around with his nose, then sneezes. He really loves the snow. I have pictures from a couple of years ago of him making snow angels with the kids. It was hysterical.
