maybe its splitting hairs but when he says benefits have been extended for those who have lost their jobs - isn't that what COBRA is for. It already exists. And I know the lurkers here will say but those premiums are outrageous and the average american can not pay them. OK I might agree on that. But I guess its OK if I pay it for them??

And don't get me started on the "access" to healthcare issue. My head will explode.

Don't me started on COBRA. COBRA isn't benefits for those who are unemployed. COBRA is expensive! Honestly, if you can afford COBRA, you can probably afford not to work, i.e. you're independently weathly.
I don't think anyone should be paying for someone elses' health insurance. I pay for my own out of pocket. DH has it through his job, we buy mine and DS's.

since i'm an animal lover, i would like to propose that, instead of killing wolves, we sit down and have a chat with them. explain to them that we have known wolves in the past and have lived with their kin, so we understand what wolves are about. we'd like to reach across the forrest to them and meet on common ground. we can pay for their food and for their birth control. we can even give them some money to buy new dens. we will pay for them to go to their local veterinary clinic. they will cooperate, of course, and we'll all be friends forever more.

we can sing and we can have treats, but we can't call the treats "wienies" or "hot dogs", as that might be construed as offensive by those we're being friendly with. we'll have to call them "franks".

Cobra is expensive. My sister always has to go on it when she moves/changes jobs. She really cant' afford it but has to do it because otherwise she'd have a pre-existing condition and no insurance would cover her. She's just glad she still has the option to go to whatever doctor she wants and doesn't have to be wait listed and die while waiting which is what happens in countries with Gov't meant run health insurance.

I want to know why people think if the government runs health care it's "free". Do they not realize that it will most likely cost us MORE because it will be taken from our taxes?

I'm glad I currently have the option to go to who I need to go to for care as well. It scares me to think that I could be denied a chance to see the top surgeon that I need to see just because he's in another state. With a tumor like mine, you just can't go to any old neurosurgeon, there is only a handful of people in the country qualified to do the procedure. Which if they didn't let me see him, would end up costing them more in the long run because I'd end up with multiple surgeries.

So guys...guess what I just did? It is a nice sunny day outside, the mountain is fully visible (not always the case...), and I just went for a little drive to town and paid off my car. I was really close after the money from my good luck at the casino, and January was a three-check month, so I decided to spend the "extra" money to finish the car off. Then I stopped on the way home and had it washed. Now it's sitting in my driveway, all purty and shiny....and MINE!

the good news is that the company where i'm now working is reporting earnings! hooray for Vxxx!!!!(must be 'cause o'me. )

I was going to say the same thing. I know a Frank and I object to cannibalism.

You worked for EA?! I've given them plenty of money inbetween Sims 1 and all it's expansion packs and Sims 2 and all the expansion and stuff packs.
If you still worked there I'd say sneak me a copy of Sims 3.
But I'll be buying that when it comes out in 16 days. Well, if I can afford it, anyway.
