i'm thinkin' 'bout this $500k salary limit we heard about today--

i don't really think it is a TERRIBLE idea, considering the taxpayers are giving money to these companies and we'd like to see it spent wisely. i have a feeling we'll see extremely competent execs leaving companies 'cause this will be a serious pay cut for them. if they're there for the challenge, wonderful. i'm not sure how many people are willing to take on that challenge for that amount of money. maybe a higher salary limit with a bonus allowed based on revenue...a small percentage.

whaddya'll think?
I think, it's a bad idea. It might "sound" like a good idea...but, let's get real. Who would stay in a job...for half the pay? Just so you can "feel" good about yourself?

some of these guys have tens of mils already...maybe they would. i think the big clue will be if there's no hope for the company turning around...i think they'll get the heck outta dodge. (or ford.)

I think it would have been a good idea if it were a condition when the money was actually given. I don't think you can do it after the fact.

There will have to be an incentive. Only Mother Teresa and Jesus did good works....with no strings attached.

Personally, I have a hard time with the whole bailout. I mean, here you have companies saying that they'll reap the benefits of their bad decisions when it's profitable to them, but the minute it's not, they're whining to the gov't and they gov't gave them money. Thus, the gov't now has a stake in these companies. For the companies it now has a stake in, well, they can do what they want, it's the companies stupid fault for taking money from the government which then makes them a public company and not a private one. Perhaps they should have thought about scenarios like this.

Now, on the flip side. Can these companies uproot their headquarters and move them to another country where the US has no say on what they pay their CEOs? Probably. Is that going to be beneficial? Absolutely not.

Onelil, my Disney haze is fading too ---- reality is coming back *sigh*

Can you hold out until next Wednesday? I'll be back with pictures! Pretty pretty pictures! Maybe pictures of food pixiedust:

YES!

and now the one is going to sign something on t.v. again.

since when is a press conference about watching somebody sign something, then not answer questions?

i hope not. i know that there are companies in india now who, after many companies outsourced i.t. organizations to them, are having serious financial reporting "issues". as predicted, i think some jobs will be coming back.

He approaches the podium, and after laying a big lip lock on Pelosi, all he has to say is, "This is good...this is good", and they all break out in thunderous cheering and applause.:lmao:

Companies have a tough row to hoe in this country and it's probably just going to get worse. There's really not many incentives to actually stay and do business here.

:confused3 i do not know a thing about guns. whatever you think is best. :confused3

ETA: i changed this in case it sounded either pornographic or ethnic.
Well...:rolleyes1 At the risk of sounding like a bitter gun clinger...maybe you should get something that you can carry and conceal. Jennings 9mm ain't really good for that.

This is SO true! I don't understand how people are so blind!

-hope you all don't mind me joining-

Yeah, and I'm with the one upthread who mentioned getting sick of the word 'mandate' being thrown around all the time -- since when is 52.9% a mandate?!??!?!
No, a mandate is politics is the country on election night 1984.
A mandate for obama is having dinner with Pelosi. :lmao:

:crazy2: :faint:

what idiots!!! they all acted as though the schip bill was new!!!!

did g.w.b get the same acclaim when he signed to extend schip?!?!?

come on libs...lemme know how much you cheered and clapped when "dubbya" extended schip! double dog dare

I agree with everything posted about the salary limits - to add one more thing - kinda like gun conrol laws - the honest abide by them but the dishonest? We'll see a lot of top execs of failing companies still making a lot of money but it'll be okay since BHO said there would be salary caps - right?

Don't mind at all, Welcome :)

Hey! How was Vegas?

He approaches the podium, and after laying a big lip lock on Pelosi, all he has to say is, "This is good...this is good", and they all break out in thunderous cheering and applause.:lmao:

Seriously, Sherry, I just ate lunch....and that was more quease-inducing than our puke discussions yesterday...

I'm not completely sure I"m a fan of schip to begin with. I think the gov't needs to just stay out of all of it!

Just prepare yourself for all the stats that the left will throw out in regards to the cost of the war. :teeth: Deflection mode!!:cheer2:

I'm prepared. I mean, heck, at least that money bought us a war. What's this buying us?

Edited to add: But yeah, I can see them surfing the far-left web sites as we speak — "Gimme somethin' here, man! Ya gotta have somethin'!"

well I was hoping after obama became president I would be able to watch him on TV and actually listen.

Nope.:confused3

I still get blah blah blah, pat on back for supporters, change, blah blah blah

maybe its my TV -
