I know! I remember when one of the female contestants did an acoustic version of it on American Idol and the judges slammed her for not taking the lyrics into consideration. Her version was so cute musically and really sounded great but was wrong on so many levels because of the lyrics. That's why I keep getting the words stuck in my head.
I totally remember that! And the most disturbing part was she really didn't get why people/judges (or really, it was mostly Harry lol) had issues with it. Like really really didn't get it.
I have worn the GT 2000 probably the most. I have had a few pairs of the Kayano's as well. I think theres a 3rd style I have used. My problem was I kept buying them too big because I was putting my insert OVER the shoe insert. Doh! When I tried both those on with the new insert (inserted properly) I just didn't like the feel. The Brooks felt better so I figured why not? I'm sure I will swing back to Asics in the future, but I figured now is a good time to experiment since I'm running more miles.
Oh my goodness! That totally makes sense then why the Brooks would feel better, it is a much more significant medial post I think and double inserts would probably approximate that in some way.
That's awesome! We have ocean and bay. That's pretty much it. I don't really consider the poconos mountains.
We have lake and sound but the sound is too cold for real sunbathing or swimming, the ocean even more so (and a solid hour or more drive for "real" ocean).
Okay thanks for the encouragement on that, Cynthia. I feel like I would die if I even attempted your pace!
You are doing wonderfully! 40 minutes is quite a bit of time, as much as anyone needs I think. It will improve over time on its own. It is funny, I was being a little bit bummed as if I look at this month, compared to August of last year, my overall average pace is about the same. Except it really isn't. If I compare like runs to like runs (say under 3 miles, 3-6, 6-9 and then over 9) there is definite improvement in each category. Huge? No but it is still improvement.
They sound super comfortable and easy to run/workout in. I'll be checking that website out, thank you!
I am a huge fan, best part is their Love it or return for any reason policy. Which means wear it and if you don't like it, take it back No questions asked. I rarely do it but boy it is nice when you need to!
Yep! 15 till we leave, 17 till we run. YIKES!
Well, I do have my blood sugar issues. Maybe that is why? Or may I am overly food motivated.

Seriously though... in regards to my blood sugar. The medication that I take that regulates my insulin... I always debate when I should take it in relation to a race.
I think you should take your medication for sure and you eat the normal serving or suggested amount. I eat less (and get some flak for it in places but whatever).
I think there will be plenty and you should be totally fine!
I am not worried about water.
Funny/peculiar, yes?

I know...even if you are a minute faster per mile than me it isn't like you are waiting that long... just 13 additional minutes. I highly doubt we would be more than that apart in our pace. I think C is good. I won't stress about being at the front of it or anything...but I still probably won't want to hang at the very back. What did you figure for numbers? like 900 people in our corral? Yeah... I don't want to have to fight with that many people ahead of us.
I will NOT be a minute faster. Crazy talk. There are about 1000 in our corral.
I agree... those who finish in under 3 are still doing a good deal of running and possibly not stopping for any pics.
I hope they break up H
Well.. yes... wow! If you had taken no breaks imagine what your pace would have been. It started that day after I was done with the 14 miler. My stomach felt off. Then the two mid week runs I had a threatening stomach the entire run. (even having to stop a couple times for a bio break) I had a hard time eating all week because I felt so nauseous. If I were not old I would have worried about certain things.

Friday night was as bad if not worse than it had been all week. Then saturday morning it all just stopped and I was fine.

I am just glad you are fine!
Oh my! I think if I ran when it was 80 out and I managed almost 5 miles with a 9:49 pace I would think it was AWESOME! You are doing great!!!!
Eh. It wasn't all that much faster last night at 70 degrees. 76% humidty. BLEH! LOL. It was faster though so that is something I guess.
Yay for the correct size!!! And your pace

woooo!!! That is speedy! I can see why when you can do that you would think that your previous pace was slow. Course... not exactly an apples to apples. a 2 mile run and a 5 mile run.
Not remotely apples to apples lol! I am usually in the 9:10-9:30 range for a 4-5 mile run so when it is slower than that on a training run, not pushing it, it kinda bugs me. Not enough to run faster though that is for sure.
I think the hike was the right choice!!!!

You are really making me want to get back into it!
It was and you should!
Definitely good that you didn't take the bib too... that woudl have made for an even longer day!
It would have been too much. We would have been able to transfer it, which is what made it appealing but it would have been too much.
As nice as getting that last 14 miler in before the half would be, I am sure that should you cut it back or illuminate it you would still be fine for the half.
As of now I am still planning to do it

Ya know, I had not even thought about how it is stiche/hawaii themed. Your outfit now is even more perfect!!!
Well the half isn't themed to that but certainly the kids race and 10k are!
I just can't fathom the amount of exercise that you do. That's why you are so fit and trim! I would absolutely die on an 11 mile hike, can't even imagine 50 miles or 50 days!
You would not die but it might not be terribly fun! This was obviously more than usual, in terms of time for sure. Generally speaking all we do is about 30-60 minutes a day, 5 times a week. I don't think that is excessive. Obviously these longer training runs are different but generally we are only putting in a total of 5 hours for the whole week, tops. And really, I only do any of it so I can eat and drink. LOL!
It's really coming up fast now!
It is, I will probably have a mini freak out after the last long run this weekend.
Is that Mt. Rainier in the background of your pictures? Just curious. I was a teen last time I was in that part of the country. We definitely need to go back...just a gorgeous area. And you get to see it every day!
Yes it is. That's an exceptionally good view of it and the weather could not have been better. Usually you don't see it like that from where we were. You can actually see it from my bedroom window and also from the lake we spend a lot of time at, but it's a lot more hidden because you are so much lower. The view of the Olympics can actually more spectacular from Seattle proper but it's all pretty darn amazing.
Is55-60 miles a day?!

God bless that guy. I had a friend who hiked the entire Appalachian Train (Georgia to Maine) one year. I think it took him about 6 months. God bless him, too.

I enjoy hiking if there's a point to it--like a waterfall or a spectacular view at the end of the trail. I can't take a walk just for the sake of walking. But at the same time, I get where you're coming from--there's something to getting outside, away from electronics and distraction.
It has to have a point, or a payoff. Around here that could be a lake, a specific view, a treasure (remember the hike to the crashed B-52?) or a waterfall. Sometimes you can end up without the view if it's foggy or cloudy and that's a bummer. My first hike this season was like that. The view was good. But when really clear? It is unreal. We just got good that day. Sometimes though, just hiking through the woods, old growth or rainforest is magical enough on its own for me. Really depends on the trail. 55-60 a day? NO WAY. Or all that overnight camping either assisted or unassisted...no thanks. There is such a thing as too much solitude. Plus, I don't hike alone, I like the social aspect of it, I chatter a LOT as I hike. A solo man, probably 60, was hiking at the same time as we were. We kept passing him. Basically we would pass him, run into a group of our kids, give them snacks and chat and then start up again, pass him again, and so on. At one point we stopped at a vista he was at and chatted with him. He was a thru hiker, doing the whole trail. He was making fun of my non stop chatting as the other parent and I were hiking. It was pretty funny.
