Condom in bed..

Goodness gracious some of you are so quick to dismiss and try to invalidate another person's feelings. This is an awful experience, I can't even imagine how I'd feel or react if I found a condom in a hotel room bed. if moving to another resort is what she needed to feel better then who are you to judge or question that?! And as for the preferred room, I imagine she wanted to be close to bus stop/food court so being far away at Port Orleans could be a big inconvenience, how is that so hard to comprehend?

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope you found some help in this thread to make sure this never happens! Hope you can enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I think the problem is that she's also complaining about where she got moved to. There are 2 options...find another room on the same property or find another room on a different property. They gave her an upgrade, but one she does not like. If she didn't want to stay at that particular resort, she should have told them that when they were trying to move her, rather than complaining about it on a message board after the fact.

I think we all agree that the first room was left in an absolutely unacceptable state. No question about it.

I do sincerely hope that the family finds a way to move past this and have a nice trip.

I think she was just venting. She was mad and went on a rant which I understand. I would've been pissed the heck off too. Sometimes you need to get it out to people who "get it."

I think OP was just venting. it was late at night, tired kids, tired adults, long walk to room. Hopefully they woke up feeling better and are enjoying their vacation.

I totally understand venting.

OSHA implements standards to protect housekeeping from contamination of body fluids so I expect my family to be just as protected. It is clear housekeeping didn't remove the linen from the prior guest/s. If this was a used condom I believe that compensation should not end the matter. This should be escalated up the chain. The matter needs to be reviewed by risk management. I think Disney got off pretty easy here. If one of the children would have come into contact with the used condom there could have been some serious consequences. I am sure many will not agree and think my opinion is an overreaction, fair enough, but Disney is a hotel and in order to stay open must comply with certain regulations and standards so they need to be aware when their staff is falling short.

I agree that there needs to be some sort of followup to the entire condom thing. Actually, because somewhere along the line someone dropped the ball between housekeeping and the room assignment, that issue should be addressed.

Tuck your kids into bed with someone else's condom and tell me you wouldn't be pissed off. My baby could have put that in her mouth.

Okay, I have read the entire thread, and I would be upset had that happened to me. But it would not have happened under the circumstances you described. Had I walked into that room, in the condition it was in, we would all have been out of it. I have no idea how anyone would use a bed in a room that has dirty underwear and a bathtub filled with water and a bug.

I would be perturbed, but there would be no way I would wait until morning to have a room cleaned. No. We would be in a clean one and my inspection would be accompanied by the resort manager. This I show I roll.

I paid for a preferred room because being that convience was important to me so moving to Port Orleans and having to walk so far to the lobby is a terrible inconvenience. I paid a great deal of money for this vacation and no I do not think they went above and beyond. I will still enjoy my vacation with my children BUT I do think that SOMEONE needs to look into housekeeping/management at Pop.

We are in agreement that you should follow up with an email to guest services. I would do that. You insisted on another resort. In this aspect, the whole POR thing is on you. You asked to be moved and you were. You cannot move others out of their preferred rooms in a resort that you did not originally book, so you got a room that was vacant. If I have my heart set on POP preferred, I would have discussed that with the resort manager and would have insisted that the manager stroll with my family to the new room to be sure it met my expectations.

You set your own issue up by insisting you were moved outside of POP, and Disney honored that request. It just did not work out the way you imagined that it would, but complaining about travel without car seats, rain....what on Earth did you expect? The reason you have lost sympathy is that you have a multitude of complaints, and most have nothing to do regarding Disney handling your original request...to move to a different resort.
You guys are terrible. ‍♀️

Youre questioning why I would need to be moved and acting as if I should be happy that this happened because being moved to Port Orleans is such a good thing.

No. I could care less about any extra amenities in the resort. All I wanted was a CLEAN place to lay our heads at night that was convient to the bus stop and lobby. We stay in the parks from open to close so nothing fancy needed here. We have a pool and never use the resorts anyways.

I actually really hate this property. I would have never chosen to stay here.

Thank you to everyone who had a helpful tip on whom to contact to relay my complaint. I hope this never happens to anyone else!

Okay....where did you want to go? You do not like POR, and I can bet CBR and CRS would be worse due to construction. POFQ was likely booked solid. It usually is. So were you hoping for Deluxe? If all you wanted was a clean bed and a clean room, that could have been taken care of without moving resorts. You would be where you wanted to be. Of all options, Disney gave your their most prized moderate at this time, and it is not good enough.

Again, I sympathize with your arrival. I would have been very upset, but here is where my sympathy ends. As I suggested earlier, I would never have stayed one minute in that room. but if by some strange reason, I relented I would have had housekeeping hop foot in there and clean it. No one in my family would have laid their heads down on that bed without me being sure that the bathroom was not the only oversight. Not one chance in heck would that have happened. You need to own some of your own disappointment here because while you are not responsible for that dirty room the snowball effect is one you set in motion, and for the life of me, I cannot see why.

It's easy for people at home or work on their personal computer to bash OP for her reactions. Imagine how you would feel if this happened. She made a decision out of shock and disgust and I agree that POR is the wrong solution. It is what it is, though. Whoever told her to come here should have known better.

Exactly. What I would've done, what she should've done and what could've been done doesn't matter anymore. Hindsight is 20/20. Nothing can be done to go back to the other night. I can say that I would've demanded X, Y and Z but in that moment who knows. After traveling with 3 tired children who knows what my reaction would've been.

I don't know if I would move again at this point but someone would for sure be hearing my mouth about all of this.

There is no room upgrade that would completely forgive finding a used condom in a bed my children were sleeping in. I would take the upgrade, of course, to get as far away as possible from the resort and the housekeeper or room assigner who allowed such a thing to remain in a bed for a new guest, but an experience like that, particularly when it happens to your children, feels like a violation. It's not even on the same level as finding dirty underwear peeking out from under the hotel bed, which has happened to me (not at Disney), or realizing the water glasses were not changed out (did happen to me at Disney), or even realizing that you've been assigned an uncleaned, unserviced room before you get under the sheets. I don't have an opinion about how the OP was compensated, or if it's to anyone's satisfaction or expectation. When you're dealing with (potential) bodily fluids from a non-family member and young children, the resort has seriously erred. In 6 stays, we've had things go wrong or had a room go unserviced or been assigned to the one room at GF that overlooks the loud, beeping loading dock and didn't get a wink of sleep after 4:30 am every day for a week. I can't think of an occasion I've complained; I just dealt with it in the simplest way as possible to get on with our vacation. But, as a mom, I really feel for the OP...what a horrible shock. I hope things go well for you the rest of the week. I've always liked the looks of POR, myself.

I just don't see how a hotel can screw up and give a used room to new guests. That's gross and unacceptable.

I have never worked at a Disney Resort, but have worked the front desk at a luxury hotel, and I can tell you it is easy depending on the computer system you are using. It is a simple as typing in the wrong room number when you are re-categorizing a room from dirty to clean in the room inventory. Or in some cases, a room would be taken out of order for a maintenance request after a guest checks out, and then once the room is put back in service, the housekeeping code is not updated.

I am not saying it is excusable, but it unfortunately happens.

I know people are just human and can make mistakes, but, yuck.... Now not only will I check for bed bugs, I will be pulling down the sheets to be looking for other gross things..

This!

I think they should have been taken to PO with their luggage, and checked in and walked to the room with the luggage. PO should have been alerted so that it all went smoothly. Or the mgr and help from ASMU should have gone with and taken care of them. comp the first night

The pictures if anyone wanted to see.

Holy Cow! That is not good.

I more firmly believe that you need to follow up with a letter or email to guest services so they can provide constructive feedback to the resort and housekeeping managers.

I do hate to beat a dead horse, but there is no way I would have remained in that room without a thorough cleaning.

I'm usually a lurker and don't have much to say. But we're leaving for Pop tomorrow AM. This post has me really concerned. We stayed at AllStar Sports three years ago. I had no complaints. I know what I'm getting with a value resort - small space, bare bones theming, but HOPEfully the same level of Disney cleanliness, friendliness, and world famous customer service. They're known for it. People train "like Disney." I don't buy that value resorts are less than in terms of those standards. But clearly, this is what happened. I've requested a refurbished room because my hope is that no one will have stayed in it, thus no underwear, etc. LOL. Because this would just send me through the roof.
I am seeing several reports of palmetto bugs at Pop, and it makes me wonder (knowing that in the south those are rampant in the summer and as far as I know, they're not like an infestation of roaches - these are tree roaches that come inside for water and to get out of the overwhelming heat. They're like beetles in the south)...but it makes me wonder if those are more prevalent because of construction? For that matter, are their staff discombobulated because of the construction?
I like to give the benefit of a doubt - these resorts are crucial to Disney's ability to offer a vacation to many who otherwise could not afford to stay on property.

THANK YOU to the OP for not giving up on making sure that management higher ups know about this. For the rest of us coming this summer, they need to get their ducks in a row.
