You are probably right but something isn't sitting right with me on how they handled it. It is like they didn't get it (no harm no foul attitude). I would just want to make sure it went to the right people. Staff/management don't always want to deal with things they way they are supposed to.
They were told it would be cleaned (and I'm going to assume the OP didn't want it cleaned then due to sleepy children) asap, and then they were moved asap. How is that them not getting it?
Agreed. I could imagine hotel management trying to quietly tidy up this mess without letting upper WDW management know.
They had to move them to a different hotel. Already that has gone beyond one hotel's management. Already other people know what's going on.
WOW just wow, that's nuts
On a side note this is the perfect example of what I was talking about in another thread about tipping housekeeping and how I think the people who leave tips on the desk ahead of time vs waiting to see performance are crazy.
There's NO other way to do it. Unless you are going to sit in the room until housekeeping leaves and tips then. You either tip your housekeeper of that day ahead if time OR you tip today's housekeeper for yesterday's housekeeper's work.
I do hold Disney to a higher standard
Really? Even though they've shown themselves for a decade to hold themselves to a lower standard while charging us more?
Tuck your kids into bed with someone else's condom and tell me you wouldn't be pissed off. My baby could have put that in her mouth.
No one has said they wouldn't be angry. Everyone has agreed that's gross and rotten.
I paid for a preferred room because being that convience was important to me so moving to Port Orleans and having to walk so far to the lobby is a terrible inconvenience. I paid a great deal of money for this vacation and no I do not think they went above and beyond. I will still enjoy my vacation with my children BUT I do think that SOMEONE needs to look into housekeeping/management at Pop.
Alerting management and having two things done (or started...extra cleaning once everyone had slept was started) for you is starting the ball rolling for looking at housekeeping. Management responded well!
You paid for a value resort vacation and you're getting a moderate resort vacation.
I'm asking who to contact to make sure this never happens again
There is no such department. Housekeepers are human and won't always tell the truth that they didn't clean a room. Room assigners mess up. Some years back someone found a syringe just under the bed in their room.
I'm not saying to not feel your feelings, I'm not even saying don't complain. But your expectations that you can find a person that will make this never happen again are not going to be met.
I just think a higher up personnel needs to be aware that a condom in the bed at a resort even if it is 'value' is not okay.
You were moved immediately. How is that telling you that they felt it was acceptable?
Youre questioning why I would need to be moved and acting as if I should be happy that this happened because being moved to Port Orleans is such a good thing.
I would love to be moved to PO when I'd paid for a value resort.
Being happy about that is separate from being grossed out by why I was moved.
I actually really hate this property. I would have never chosen to stay here.
Why? It's beautiful, the pools you have access to are nice, and we stayed at just about the furthest away room
On our first stay there and the length of the walk was made up for by the beauty.
and want Pop held responsible
They held themselves responsible by moving you.
Goodness gracious some of you are so quick to dismiss and try to invalidate another person's feelings.
Who is dismissing her feelings about the actual problem?
Okay, I have read the entire thread, and I would be upset had that happened to me. But it would not have happened under the circumstances you described. Had I walked into that room, in the condition it was in, we would all have been out of it. I have no idea how anyone would use a bed in a room that has dirty underwear and a bathtub filled with water and a bug.
I would be perturbed, but there would be no way I would wait until morning to have a room cleaned. No. We would be in a clean one and my inspection would be accompanied by the resort manager. This I show I roll.
Ayep.
Those initial issues were big blaring signs that the room hadn't been cleaned. To expect that the sheets had been changed with all the rest was folly. I get the issues of a long exhausting travel day and I can multiply one exhausted kid by 3 and get the decision to not change anything that night. But that room hadn't been cleaned. If the condom hadn't been there they likely would have slept in those sheets most of the trip.
I just don't see how a hotel can screw up and give a used room to new guests. That's gross and unacceptable.
Happens at all hotels.
I think they should have been taken to PO with their luggage, and checked in and walked to the room with the luggage. PO should have been alerted so that it all went smoothly. Or the mgr and help from ASMU should have gone with and taken care of them. comp the first night
I might have missed a response to what happened with their luggage, but apart from that isn't that what happened? A busy late night staff is a busy late night staff. They aren't always available at the instant, especially to an last minute guest.
