concierge deck on Dream

Really? I was just addressing the scenario where a family of 5 or more split up in 2 rooms, one concierge and the other not. If let's say 3 passengers are booked and paid in the concierge room, then at any given time 3, and 3 only, could have access to lounge or sundeck. Sounds fair to me. Personally I feel they should book everyone in concierge rooms. You either do concierge or you dont. These 'hybrid' situations are what is questionable.

FE deliveries for concierge cabins could always be delivered to either GS or the concierge office as long as they were marked as to what room they are intended for.

The issue of a concierge guest throwing a party or reception in their suite is being addressed (I know of one TA who is supposedly finding out this week!)

I'm with some of the other posters--if you didn't book/pay for concierge, the lounge and deck should be off limits. A guest staying in a concierge suite should be able to invite whomever they choose to their cabin, but not to the public concierge areas. Just my opinion....

As was pointed out in a post yesterday, it was far cheaper on the Magic to upgrade a cabin with 2 people to concierge than to upgrade the cabin with 3 people. If someone is paying for 2 concierge level guests, then those 2 guests deserve the benefits of the public areas, all should be able to "visit" in the suite!

Of course, this would mean that at least on the Dream they would have to change their policy of issuing "extra" keys to the additional family members.

I often have and will continue to have gatherings in our suite. We often travel with others that are not concierge and just plan and order and PAY for the special things ie cakes, fruit trays, alcohol etc. that we choose to serve. I see nothing wrong with that. I do not, however, take anyone to concierge parties and will not take any of them to the lounge or deck as that would invade someone else's life. I also now have a 2nd room with adult children in it that will not be covered in the concierge coverage. I'm hoping they can board with us, but if not, see ya later.

I believe they will let others board with you. The only thing is, when does that start to have an effect on Consierge guests? I mean, if one group gets a Concierge room and that room is linked to their entire family reunion of 25 additional people. Does DCL allow everyone to board early? I just think it has to stop at some point. :confused3

They WILL allow linked reservations to board early with concierge guests. Our cruise next month is our first time cruising concierge and my parents are coming with us, who are not concierge. I wanted to be sure I followed the expectations of DCL and this was a definite YES! If not, we would wait. 15 minutes won't make or break my vacation, and I don't want to be without my parents as they board their first DCL cruise with their grandkids!

My *hope* is that if you are the one lucky party of 4 sailing in a concierge traveling with 21 others who are not concierge, you would have the good manners and logic to board 15 minutes later with the rest of your party. If not, DCL would say no, I would hope.

I am glad that your parent can board with you. We will be a group total (linked together) of 13-16. Granted, we will have 2 concierge rooms booked so really only 5 or 6 that would not be. We gave them no indication that they could board with us so that would be magical if they could. The one room is my son and his fiance' and I would have liked for them to board with us for the first picture. If they say they all can board with the two groups of concierge, we would go last in that group. But I won't beg for it to happen.

You wouldn't wait to board with them if they couldn't board with you for the picture? Is it really that long of a time after concierge and the first boarding?

No. One of the reasons we go concierge is because one of my traveling party gets a little wiggy in crowds. So we board early and get her out of the cattle drive. My son has been on other cruises with us, it is his fiance's first one and we have lots of plans to enjoy with them. I would just say, "Let them have that moment together!" The fiance' cried the first time I took her to Disney.. right there on Main Street at MK.

Its going to be interesting to see how they do this. Im being told by the shoreside concierge that the seperate concierge area in the terminal now has its own entrance to the ship and that we wont go through the ears with everyone else.

Is that to avoid the glares when you bypass the line to board?

Possibly, or its a more expedient way to get the people in that area to board. Kind of like the way the gate at the airport gets crammed when they start pre boarding.

Wow, I promise if I am lucky enough to go on a cruise I will NEVER glare at anyone else on the cruise, no matter where they eat or sleep!

I just noticed that I am booked on the same cruise as the original poster- June 23, 2012. We are booked into a Cat T suite and have paid for our two teenage children to be in the suite with us. I will be the first person to complain if I am unable to find a seat on the deck, or drink in the lounge. PAY FOR WHAT YOU WANT AND STOP TRYING TO BEAT THE SYSTEM. We all work hard for our money and save up for these trips, do not take away someone elses fun because you are a beat artist!!!

The last few times we stayed in a suite (prior to the remodeling of the terminal), they escorted us through a "side door" in the Concierge waiting area and we did not go through the ears. It sounds like they kept a similar door when they did the remodeling.

Right, from the couches through the door in the side of the 'ear'.

I think they now have a seperate way to get you onboard so you dont go back into the terminal area. The new concierge area is where they were doing the kids registrations. There must be something from there to the ship.

When we sailed in Nov 2010 in concierge the new check-in area was where the Kids club registration used to be. After check-in we were escorted to the same waiting area that now had a glass barrier around it instead of the ribbon barrier and when ready to board we went through that side door. I am curious to see if the waiting area is kept the same because around 11:15am the concierge waiting area was chock full and many were standing. With more concierge rooms on the Dream I can't imagine it will hold all those guests. Hopefully someone in the next few sailings will give an update on this.

I have noticed several comments in this thread that refer to the threat of non-concierge guests using the concierge deck and taking up a lounge chair that is meant for concierge guests. Has anyone noticed in pics available throughout the forum, that on the concierge deck there are only about 12 total single chaise lounge type chairs and about 6 "tandem" chaise lounges? The rest of the space is made up of cocktail type tables and modern type oversized (diameter, not height) stools and a "misting" bench. It would seem that (at least as the recent pictures depict) even if access to that space is strictly controlled that those guests looking to sun in a chaise lounge type chair may find their availability limited. 24 or so loungers for all of the concierge guests seems insufficient. Will be interesting to see TRs from the first few full capacity cruises.

yes, the sun deck looks tiny.....for that matter, the concierge lounge doesn't look very spacious.....in the video it looked like small tables and chairs smushed together in a very cramped space....
hopefully, it will be nice....it will be a shame if when they finally put in a lounge - something that was very much missing from our point of view when we sailed on the wonder - it turns out to be too small and cramped...

I wondered about the size of the lounge as well. when you look at all the concierge rooms, even at 3 people in a room the lounge is too small! we looked forward to the addition but it might not be worth it if it is overcrowded. We stayed at the YC club level last year and you often had to stand with your plate for lack of seating. it was very irritating.
