At bc cl right now ( I'm actually sitting at SAB .) I am loving the CL. The concierge couldn't be any friendlier or welcoming. They always remember us, stop to chat, and go out of their way to make our stay extra pleasant. The food in the lounge has been great, super fresh, and constantly replenished.

Great to hear!:cool1:

I agree with the pp that I would give IPO a call if you haven't heard anything from them yet.

How far out do they contact you? Our trip is planned for Oct at BC. Thanks:)

As I said above, my friend only drinks Coors Light, but husband would be fine with some of the others, but would prefer Spatan or Oktoberfest.

My husband loves Coors light as well. He walked over to the Hess station next to the BWI and bought a case when we were at the YC in May. But he also drank the Sam's Summer too.

I have stayed cl many many times and reading comments about people who abuse the lounge confuses me. i have never seen anyone who was not considerate and a pleasure to share the lounge with. although to be honest i have never monitored the other guests behavior. there have been trips where we have rarely used the lounge and trips where we have spent a lot of time at the pool and taken advantage of the offerings more. never have i experienced anything other then having twice what i really want forced on me. if i grab a beer they try to get me to take 2 or more, bringing food to the table when we didn't ask for it. we have asked for water and been offered it without asking. honestly? i wouldn't hesitate to ask for something i wanted...within reason. and to me water is well within reason.

But the point of us staying CL was so we didn't have to go out and buy it.

Looking at your signature you might have just lucked out and hit the CL during slower times. Your April 2013 stay might not have been too busy if it wasn't near Easter, and your Poly stay in September 2012 might not have been too crazy since usually during free dining the majority of people aren't staying CL. The water shortage we saw last summer at the BC CL was at the hottest part of early August summer vacation. The lounge was completely packed, the entire floor was sold out, and it wasn't too surprising bottled water was in short supply. But they always had the tall glass Evian bottles to offer so it wasn't like they were refusing to give anyone water at all... they just ran out of the small plastic bottles.

He didn't have to go out and buy it, there was plenty of beer in the lounge, he just wanted a particular brand they didn't carry. I'm sure it has something to do with which brands Disney has contracts with, apparently Coors light isn't one of them.

I'm sure everyone's experiences are different, but I've always gotten an email welcoming me to the resort/CL within a few days to a week or so after I booked, and all of our trips so far have been booked at least 6+ months out (if not more than that). The emails have consisted of forms to fill out for requests, ADRs, questions I might have, etc. With that said, a couple of years ago I booked Poly CL and I actually got a phone call from IPO introducing themselves and encouraging me to call them at any time should I have any questions or concerns about our upcoming stay. We ended up changing our plans so have yet to stay Poly CL, but that phone call came not long after I booked. With that said, if you haven't been contacted by IPO yet and your trip is in Oct, I would maybe contact them.

thats possible. :) over the last few years (5?) we have been there at almost every time of year though we do try to avoid crowds. if water is in short supply at the cl when you go then its in short supply. i dont think anyone is owed water or any other specific perk. I dont however think its unreasonable to ask. quite frankly i would rather pay more money, as someone suggested then order my 4 year old to leave the snacks alone if he is hungry and we are in the lounge. i have never seen anything to suggest this described `abuse` is a legitimate problem.

I've noticed that if I book a regular room and then upgrade to CL later I usually don't get the welcome email.

That's interesting, although a little strange, IMO, because I would think it would show up as a new reservation as far as CL is concerned .

This is my experience as well. I will see if there is a difference when I finally book our 2014 trip, which will be CL right off the bat. :goodvibes

Can someone tell me about beer and wine offered at Poly? And times offered??:confused3 We have a cabana booked from 3-7pm and are wondering if we could take a beer out to it??:confused3 TIA for any info!:cool1:

ok have a question, just switched my reservations from Beach club to yacht Club, club level. We will be celebrating my youngest daughters sweet 16 and middle DD 21st bday while we are there. Can I email IPO and request a bday card signed by chip and dale for the youngest and one signed by tinker bell for the older, is this something the can make happen? I have heard of other people getting cards signed by mickey and gang. This is our first time staying club level so not sure if this was something I could ask for or not, also should also let them know we need a room with the daybed?, thanks

Okay, I am going to give a call tomorrow. We did start out in a regular SV room and then upgraded to CL....::yes:: Maybe that is what happens.... Thanks!:)

We've never requested anything like a signed card, but I don't see anything wrong with giving the birthday information and asking if a card can be done. If IPO doesn't do things like that, I'm sure they would give suggestions on what to do :). As far as a daybed, that would need to be requested. If it's not already on your reservation, I would contact IPO and have them note it. Keep in mind that not all rooms come with a daybed, so it would only be a request and is not guaranteed. If a room with a daybed is not available, they would provide you with a roll away.

Okay, I am going to give a call tomorrow.

:goodvibes

I'm curious about this, too. And after reading a few of the earlier posts, I'm realizing that my upgrade to BC CL is probably why I haven't heard from the IPO about our October trip yet. Always learning new things here - thanks DIS! :)

We just stayed YC CL in April. I noted my daughters 9th birthday on the reservation. One day during our trip, we came back to balloons, and a card signed by the princesses, along with a birthday message from the fab five on voicemail! :goodvibes. We were quite surprised because we didn't request that, but obviously they have the resources available, so I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.
