Hi!

we will do a once-in-a-lifetime trip to WDW at the end of september 2015.
I have read all the threads about construction going on in the parks - now I am strongly concerned about our trip. Will there be construction walls everywhere, i.d. AK, HS and hub construction in MK? I would be quite disappointed .... :guilty:

There is ALWAYS construction at WDW. There is not a single day you can go where something isnt torn up. The DHS hat will be long gone by the fall and I doubt they will have started any major construction on star wars land by then. There might be walls up in the back of the park, but it is not a common place for you to go. Animal kingdom will be torn up. That is the major 2015 construction project. There is not much to be done about that. I think the only Epcot project this year is Norway and it may be done by your trip, if not, it is only one country that will have walls up. MK should be fine. I would think the hub would be done by then, but we have traveled 2 times with the hub construction and it really isn't that disruptive. As a first timer you might not even notice it. Something is always being painted in MK though, so at least one building will have shrims up, but disney does their best to make it blend in. You will have a crane behind the castle during the day putting the christmas lights up, but they take it down in the afternoon and night.
We travel late September every year. You will have a great trip!

Just how "torn up" will Animal Kingdom be? We're going to be there the first week of October. We didn't get to spend much time there last trip, so we were hoping to make it a priority this trip. :confused3

Pretty torn up, but only they know what it will look like come fall. Avatar land and its "friends" such as the light parade aren't due to open till 2016 so I would suspect construction will be in full swing in the fall with lots of walls and cranes and such. I don't think the back of the park or right side (dinoland, asia and africa) are effected come fall though (currently lots of walls), so the most of the animal trails should be fully open.

Thanks for all your comments - I feel relieved now.
All this construction going on is pretty new for me. My "home-Disneyland" is Disneyland Paris and there haven't been so much construction for years (as far as I can remember).

I was there in August and October 2014. The walls and construction at AK is absolutely noticeable and massive. Not sure what it will look like by September.

The hub in MK was less noticeable from Main street, but it was pretty obvious once you go to the existing hub. I am hopeful it will be completed by late summer when we are back. They do a very good job of making everything look pleasant while the construction is going on, but it is pretty visible from certain spots in the area. With that said, I'm not sure it ruins your trip or really effects getting to where you need to be.

HS will be weird without the hat since it has been there since we started going when the kids were young. No real distraction from construction by fall though unless they start building new attractions, which is less likely while the AK stuff is going on.

We try to go annually and construction/refurbishments and such are just part of the process to keep the parks updated and working. If it were a once in a lifetime trip, I'm not sure I would be as dismissing about everything going on. Most of the major stuff should be done or at least minimum by the fall, except AK, so you should be OK.

FYI-Pirates of the Caribbean will be going through a refurbish so that will not be open this fall. Bummer for us, but much needed.
