Completely Immersive Star Wars Experience

Wasn't there talk that Disney would actually prefer to be out of the hotel business? If true maybe a third party could step in to at least manage it.

That price though! I can't get past that.

Just to clarify my stance on this:

1. The management has always viewed hotels as a burden or necessary evil (large overhead costs)
2. I think it inevitable that at least some of the hotels will be outsourced.
3. I don't think that move is imminent at this point.

Something I was thinking about today: Disney could have a desire to build one of these boutique hotels just because I think universal would've already done so with Potter if they had the space. Think about it? A night in hogwarts? Some weird mystery you have to solve by exploring the castle? They'd make absolutely hand over fist for that. And I think they'd do it if they ever could find the room to put it behind hogwarts (don't know if that's even feasible though)

They would have so much money. SW would be minting it. It'll be interesting to see if they do it - either company. At WDW, if it got stale and less interesting over time they could easily just re-theme it and have another Epcot/HS resort. I honestly wouldn't hestitate to spend a few grand for a couple of nights at an super interactive SW or HP hotel/experience.

Harry Potter is maybe bigger than Star Wars, & I know you're right. People would buy Harry Potter anything.

HP is huge, but its not SW huge. SW has cruises, conventions, and HP has no fan base like the 501st legion. I'm a pretty hardcore nerd, and honestly, adore HP more than SW, but I know when you see the Dragoncon parade, the 501st has probably 10-20 times the numbers. I'm not knocking HP, but SW is just "extra."

Don't get me wrong...discuss away...

They have tinkered with the idea of the boutique attraction for many years...but I think it ultimately comes down to their resistance to concentrate large overhead on such a small consumer base...

So the geeks show up/pony up...great...then the stock market loses...ohh...35% of its value and discretionary spending dries up for about 4-6 years...

The what do you do with it? It's a loss on the stock when the board members seats are ALREADY on fire.

Just another idea

Hey, soak up the profits, then when things go south, just leave it laying there abandoned like WOL! Then open it again when the economy comes back (oops .. I mean .. poor WOL) :(

I would only stay at this type of immersive resort if cosplay dress was allowed. Imagine the bar scene at night. This could be as much fun as Pleasure Island used to be. Heck, if they were smart they would skip on this and open a Star Wars multi-floor bar at Disney Springs and encourage fans to dress as their favorite characters - maybe even sell the costumes on one of the floors. Each floor could either be based on a different "era" or different planet. All kinds of possibilities.

The cantina, jabbas palace, cloud city. Lord I'd spend a vacation there

I think the problem there is they'd have to retheme the IOA section and build an actual hogwarts behind it...

...think doctor Phillips high school would mind?

That's quite the commitment to a fictional character for a married man. Although she does turn 38 this year, so I suppose the age disparity won't be too bad- if she'll have you. ;)

She's 27...don't put her on the downside of the mountain yet...

And you missed the part where it's a purely HYPOTHETICAL pairing :cloud9:
