Comparing Walmart with WDW

I'm of the opinion anyone who is healthy that can get the vaccine should as soon as they are able, and that's just based on all the information we all already know. Be ready to say yes today.

So anyone who has medical issues should consult their medical doctor, correct?

You know that is what I and others mean. Obviously people that can't medically get a vaccine aren't going to get one. 🙄

So if you are saying you have health issues that would mean you can't get the vaccine, then I'm not sure why you lead me down this path of conversation. I'm not answering you anymore because this is annoying.

I am saying I have multiple medical issues that mean I should talk to my medical provider and take their advice on whether I should or not. I didn't lead you down anything. You walked down it with your OWN assumptions.

I think if that were the case that probably should have been said in the beginning :flower3: It probably would have cleared some things up.

Another person already said their doctor reached out to them and they advised them to hold off thinking about it. For you you don't even want to talk to your doctor yet which speaking for just myself if I was already for getting the vaccine but had a medical condition that would normally be an issue for a vaccine I would be talking to my doctor ASAP to hear their opinion even if it was to just tell me to circle back at a later date. If you're leaning towards not wanting the vaccine it's a lot easier to hold off on reaching out. The back and forth conversation seemed deliberately vague so as to not have to give a yes or no answer, that's how this unfolded to me watching it.

I am NOT leaning toward not wanting the vaccine, I am okay with delaying it.
You've said before:

'I for one will wait awhile before I get any rushed vaccine. Let others be the guinea pigs, while I continue to stay home, distance and mask.'

'I'm okay with keeping the status quo for the foreseeable future. I am not eager to be a guinea pig.'

'I am staying home now to protect myself and will continue you to do so for the foreseeable future. I’m okay with it. I will eventually get the vaccine but I won’t be one of the first in line.'

'I will continue to wear a mask etc until such time I do decide to get the vaccine even if & when the mandates end.'

'I’m not afraid of the vaccine but I am concerned of any potential long term effects of a brand new rushed vaccine is. Those long term effects will be unknown. I will say that a local doctor that I trust and whose views on how we should be handling this virus aline with mine said he will get any vaccine that is approved because he trusts that it won’t be approved if it isn’t not safe.'

If your medical conditions, which thank you for clearing that up some, are that prominent in your mind regarding a vaccine you haven't really made that known even the last quote is more about a doctor who is likeminded to you but not about medical conditions. Instead it's been about basically everything else and at the same time of telling everyone they need to do what they need to do. You may not have meant to but you've made the issue more about other things not a concern over your medical history. It's a bit disingenuous to just now say that's the reason even if that truly is and your prior statements about non-essential businesses, staying home, mask wearing and more are not of a very sympathetic tone to other people's plights. I'm sorry in being honest but that makes an impact in how I saw the conversation unfold.

Maybe we should just drop it and let the matter be for now. I know I should drop it myself as well and shouldn't have continued so I take responsibility in that.

You've said before:
Someone has way to much time on their hands.

Yes I am not in a hurry to get an untested vaccine. Yes I will continue to take the precautions I am taking now. And yes I will talk to my doctor about any contraindications.

How is talking to my medical provider "more about a doctor who is likeminded to you but not about medical conditions." ? My doctor is the one who is treating me. She will be the one who would know if there is any reason for me not to get the vaccine. She may even fell that I should get it SOONER than GP.

Don't want to keep up the back and forth so removed

Let's get back on topic like the other person tried to :)

Getting this thread back on the original track.......

At least both Walmart and WDW are open.
Now if only Walmart would go back to being open 24hours. You don't realize how nice it is to be able to get something you need at 11pm when all of a sudden you can't lol. At least it's better than what 8pm? I think that's what it was earlier.

Then again WDW isn't open too too late these days either :)

Our was never 24 hours. But I just wish they would start having the things I need. So frustrating to go and they are out of half the things you need. I am sure it is only going to get worse again before it gets better too.

Just a few nights ago we realized our cat's automatic dry food feeder wasn't dispensing and it indicated a low battery indicator. It was 9:30pm and it takes D batteries (seriously why things take that is beyond me) and of course did we have those? Nope but we were able to get some by the skin our teeth with the closing time. We do have another grocery store open til midnight across the street but they would have been like nearly twice the amount of Walmart's I swear. The 24hrs thing was invaluable to me as a college student that's for sure  I haven't had too much issues since the spring with inventory as a whole but we did notice they paired down varieties. Like normally I buy low sodium canned chicken and Walmart had regular, less sodium and low sodium but for a few months only regular and less sodium have been sold. That's just an example but I hope it's not permanent.

Christa, I know we're on a Walmart vs WDW thread but clearly you don't shop at our local Meijer here in Michigan! They seriously have nothing most of the time and what they do have has been been increased in price. :rolleyes2

That would quite a commute from California. ;)

My middle son and wife went to your state Thursday. But they went right to Yucca Valley to see the Joshua Tree and will be flying home tomorrow. I really am still wrapping my head around their little trip but Mama powers just don't go real far these days..........

Can anyone explain the logic of feeling safer at WDW when compared to Walmart?

I see so many people say it here and on FB groups. A trip to Walmart would be like 30-60 minutes. You don’t have to eat your meals there and you can even do curbside pickup. So how is WDW safer when you are with thousands of people, spending the whole day, and having to take off the mask to eat and drink?
It defies logic but maybe I am missing something
Curbside pickup is NOT a trip in WAlmart. I am sure that people mean that WM does not have the same standards as WDW. I know at my local WAlmart (market not SuperCenter), they DO NOT enforce the mask policy. They don't have markers on the aisles for social distancing and I AM NOT eating a meal @ Walmart.

WDW has social distance markers, rules on when you can remove your masks, hand washing stations, hand sanitizer stations, cleaning in between the rides, etc. Even pre Covid 19, Disney IMO was cleaner than Walmart.

As far as removing the mask to eat: you are socially distanced and hopefully you are washing and sanitizing your hands.

I know when I do a WM grocery pick up or delivery, I don't sanitize every single grocery item. To me, that would be ridiculous. But, to each their own.

I wear my mask whether the store has a sign posted or not. I comply to WDW's policies and I have been to WDW in the months of SEptember, October, November and we are going back in 5 days-no concerns (we usually fly but this time we are driving. no issues with airlines EXCEPT American-they packed us in like sardines in SEptember)

My daughter & her boy friend went to Tahoe the weekend before last. Drove there, spent the night and drove back. From what I can tell they did it "safely" but still wasn't necessary. I would be freaking out if either daughter decided to fly somewhere.

My adult son was supposed to fly home (west coast to east coast) to visit for the holidays. After seeing the explosion of cases and heeding the warnings of unnecessary travel, we made a joint decision for him not to come and take a chance. I was feeling good that he'd just be at home but he let me know yesterday he's going to Las Vegas instead. :crazy2: Granted, he can drive and he's not a gambler. Just going for the hotel stay, outdoor pool, etc.

I think for me the idea is that in a large, open space like WDW , if I see someone who I feel is not acting safely (i.e. pulled down mask) I can easily avoid them. I can walk away. Also, WDW is enforcing the rules better from all accounts and doing temperature screenings too. That helps. I am more concerned about being on transportation - including an airplane and at WDW - where things are more enclosed and you can't easily move away. That's what's mostly kept me away.
