Hi everyone!
I need some help. My nephew will be making his communion this May and I have no idea what to give him. Also, my cousins daughter is making her communion the week before and I don't know what to give her either! My nephew is not having a party but, my sister is taking the family out to dinner after the ceremony. My cousin is having a big party at a hotel. Should the gift reflect where the party is taking place? What I mean is, Should I be worried about covering our plate cost? I don't want to be cheap but, on the other hand I don't want to go overboard. My mom is giving them both $100. I think that's alot. Neither are very religious:rolleyes: so I can't get them something along those lines. Any suggestions?

I would suggest savings bonds and maybe a nice little religious book to go along with it.

What we've done is decide how much we want to spend and then split that between a savings bond and a gift card. That way the child can enjoy something now but still have something to put away for college etc.

I would give a savings bond it would cost $50 for a $100 savings bond. I wouldn't give more than that. Depending on circumstances maybe only $25 savings bond.

Do I need the childs' SS# to get the savings bond in their name? The reason why I need to know is my sister is going through a divorce and her DH is a real piece of work! I don't want to put the savings bond in either of their names, or even anywhere on the bond! I'd prefer it to be in my nephews name only. Can that be done?

Yes it can. All the savings bonds my kids get are all in there names/SSN.
