I'm agreeing with the person who said frogs are satan's playmates. I am terrified of them. Any of the others I can easily deal with...I've held snakes, rats, even a really big hairy spider once...but I cannot get near a frog or toad without becoming a crazy woman.

The reason is because as a young child, we lived in a house in Miami that backed up to a canal. Water + Miami = Really Big Frogs all the time!!

One time one got into the house via the sliding glass door. We woke up to it in the dog's water dish. It filled up the whole thing!!

After a storm, if you walked outside in the mud, you were more or less bound to step on one...or you'd see something that looked like a rock, which would then move.

Ahh, memories!!

I voted Other ... I have a real problem with Lizards. The smaller the worst ... I can't handle when they get in the house ... Thanks goodness the cats usually get them.

I'm honest-to-God arachnophobic. I once laid in bed for over an hour because there was a spider hanging from my ceiling fan and my dad wasn't home (shut up. I was 10). I've gotten a little better as I've gotten older, but our old house had a cellar (not a basement -- a stone cellar) and we had spider with egg sacks in the corners and I would RUN past that part of the cellar to get to the laundry room. My mother still jokes about "spiders-with-egg-sacks."

Gross.

This whole thread skeeves me out!!!!

But, hands down, ROACHES!!! I can handle all of the other bugs, but not roaches..

The big fat southern tree roaches freak me out because they can fly at you... Just thinking about this freaks me out.

I was coming home late this past Friday night and there was a big one sitting on my front porch waving at me and wondering why I had not opened the front door for him. My next-door neighbor went to step on him and he crawled through the crack under the door. So, I walked in to see the roach leisurely strolling through my living room... (while all of this is happening, I am saying things that need ever be repeated...) So, I finally reach him, and get ready to squish him, when he looks up and says "sucker, watch this" and he flys at me... :scared1:  :scared:

After running through the room screaming like a complete girl and watching the neighbors laugh at me...I decide to put my big girl panties on and fight the sucker. (and by big girl panties, I mean tucking my pants into my socks and my shirt into my pants so it couldn't go racing up my pants and finding the bug spray.)

Anyway, about 10 minutes later, after I had "suited up", the roach was casually sitting on the couch changing the channels. (yes, in fact, a pp was correct when they said roaches steal the remote control.) When I finally attacked him, it was swift and deadly. I think he gave me the one-fingered peace sign on his way out, though... :rolleyes1

Needless to say, these two attack cats that I own are fixing to find a new home, if they don't start taking their jobs more seriously and protect me from such horrors.

Wasps are the most useless creature on earth. I agree - they are evil incarnate.

Roaches are NASTY. And add earwigs to the list. :scared:

I remember as a kid that we were all deathly afraid of earwigs. It seems we'd all heard the same story.... they crawl into your ear, you go deaf and then they keep crawling right into your brain. :scared1:

That's TRUE! I saw it on Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan!

I chose Other because my greatest fear is heights. 3 ft off the ground and my knee shake.

Where I live, we would only have the spiders (because I have no clue what slugs are), and I'm scared from them

Funnily enough my choice was cockroaches hands down, despite the fact that compared with most of the other critters on that list, they are one of the least likely to actually hurt me! They are just so gross looking - and I lived in Philadelphia for 7 years so I have seen my share of them!
Years ago a friend and I were visiting the National Zoo in DC and for some unknown horrible reason, they had a bug exhibit that included a giant aquarium teeming with cockroaches. I couldn't look!

(I actually like slugs...I collected them when I was a kid! They were the only pet my mom would let me have :rotfl: )

Well I'm sorry for any nightmares I caused! I never said mine...mine is roaches. They're just horrible...they hide in the dark, then come out and spread their dirtiness around just to scurry away again when you turn the lights on. You can't squish them because as soon as you go over to get them, they run away. They also seem untouchable...I've heard roaches will be around after everything else is gone.

Your post reminds me of the sweet little roach from WALL-E! OK I admit, that is the one cockroach that I don't mind at all! :cutie:

Roaches SUCK...eww!
Amen to that sister. :worship:
But what about how they travel in a huge bunch and think no one is going to try and get them.

But the ones in real life are scums.:scared1:

I'm not a rodent fan but snakes take the cake!!! It freaks me out how they move with no legs and they are so fast and sneaky :scared1:

I also don't like any animals that have non-hairy tales (rats for example)

I can handle a needle or airplane any day

On your list, it is roaches hands down. They are the nastiest of nasty. The story a pp told about the box and roaches falling down on her....I about threw up.

But worse for me is crickets and grasshoppers. You never know where they will jump, they bite, they have those barbs on their legs so they can get hung in your clothes or hair. I grew up in Florida and every year the grasshoppers would come out....huge black and green ones...hopping everywhere, and sometimes flying. I was almost housebound. I had to peek out the door and and plan my "escape" from the yard if I went anywhere.

My real biggie fear is fire. Doesn't skeeve me out, but it is the thing that most makes me flip out.

On the list, the thing I'd least like to find in my house is a rat, so I voted that way.

Slugs are basically snails without a shell. They are slow and squishy and slimy, and they eat plants in the garden. You can tell where they have been, because they leave behind trails of slimy stuff that looks like silver when it dries.

I don't like roaches and rats and the tiny little red lizzards I keep finding in the house. They are too fast and weird-looking and really creep me out. I also hate heights particularly when I'm in a car.

I like snakes and spiders though.
