Commencing Operation Christmas Miracle Trip 2010: PTR

Day Six....At Last! Time for some Disney park planning again.

Day Six is our All Day Magic Kingdom Day. I love :lovestruc this day!

I love rope drop at MK.
MK_rope_drop.jpg

It's so fun to get there early. I love it when the CMs hand out pixie dust for us to toss. I love standing there with all the other crazy rope drop people and singing along with "Good Mornin' Good Mornin'....." I love being one of the first ones into the park and getting a photo of my kids in front of the castle almost without any other people near it!

Come on...you know what I mean, right? It's completely :wizard: magical!

So we will eat breakfast at Mara or in our room today, and take the early bus to MK. I also like waiting for the bus early in the morning. I know...weird, right? I have some of the best photos of my kids while waiting for the bus...the anticipation of a wonderful day, the excitement about what we might get to do and where we might get to eat...(oh wait, that would be ME!)

Ok. So now that we are in the nearly empty Magic Kingdom, what will we do? I'm thinking we'll hit our favorites and all the rides we missed our first day. DS will want to ride Space Mountain (of course!)
space-mountain.jpg

and DD will want to ride Small World (of course!)
small-world.jpg

*sigh* Hope I don't get that song stuck in my head....

DH really likes Thunder Mountaion RR,
big-thunder-mountain-400-1.jpg

but I still have to ask the doctor if he's ok to ride all the rides so we'll see about that. He likes to scare the kids (DD still pretends she's scared to ride it...although Tower of Terror is her favorite ride in all of Disney...go figure!)

And me...well, I have to see my Captain Jack
jack-sparrow.jpg

and then I'll be  happy!

Lunch will most likely be a snack at Columbia Harbor House...don't want to eat too much because later we will be taking the monorail
monorail.jpg

over to the Grand Floridian to see the Gingerbread Houses (cannot WAIT for that!) and DD and I will be having tea at the Garden View Tea Room.

gf-tea6.jpg

She loves tea. And I don't think she has any idea what to expect yet! And the kids do gingerbread houses with my mom every year but they've never seen ones like this:
img_3898fixed.JPG

What am I talking about? I can't wait to see it myself! Too cool! :thumbsup2

While DD and I have our tea, DS and DH may have "real" lunch at Gaspirilla Grill. Or maybe we should call it "lalinner" (late lunch/dinner).

Then we'll take the monorail back to MK and find some more rides or things to do before we head over to the Wishes Dessert Party at 7:15. When my friend came back from WDW that was all she talked about. The kids don't really know we are doing this either. I'm just not explaining everything...that way they will still have some surprises. My friend told me that it was great. No pushing, no shoving, no tall people standing right in front of you after you staked out your spot for the last hour, a nice table with lovely food and a leisurely stroll over to the railing to watch the fireworks. :goodvibes Did I mention the chocolate?

wishes-007.jpg

My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

After that we get to decide if we want to hang around for evening EMH or go back to the resort and get some rest because tomorrow night is a late night with MVMCP! :santa::santa::santa:

so glad DH is recovering and feeling better! I hate the crazy circus you have to go through to find a good doc sometimes. But so glad you found one! I hope he continues to heal nicely and is ready and rearing to go for your trip!!!! I'll continue to send prayers and pixie dust your way though.

Love the day's plans----i can't wait to hear about the tea! And you will love the dessert party- it really is fabulous- we did it last December. We had the best table in the place too- front and center- so fun walking in to find our name on the table with mickey confetti!:wizard:

Love your day 6 plans!! I LOVE the Wishes Dessert party. It is so worth it. The best part is they keep refilling everything, so youfon't have to worry about getting in line right away, or getting everything at once!

Thanks! I'm really excited about the tea too...and the dessert party.

DH is feeling a little better every day. We go back to the doctor next week on the 17th. I'm going with him because he tends not to tell everything he needs to....and I have a few questions! ;)

Niiiicccceee! :goodvibes Will there be chocolate? (of course!) I'll be so HAPPY if there's chocolate!

Today I am making the Holiday Passports I found on the Creative Disigns board. Yesterday I made our sweatshirts with our Disney family (wearing our Mickey Santa hats :santa:). Well, I made the transfers. I'm still waiting on the arrival of the plain white sweatshirts from Amazon.com in order to put them together. They should arrive today or early next week. I also made tip envelopes. So fun! :surfweb: I can't believe how fast the trip is coming now!

26 days
11 work days
1 paycheck
1 Thanksgiving holiday
1 black Friday shopping with DS (our little tradition)
1 Christmas tree to pick out, chop, haul and decorate
1 hair cut, color, and hi-lite
1 pedicure
1 manicure
1 massage (the massage therapist that came to my retreat gave me a free one as a thank you! :thumbsup2)
1 cardiologist appt. with DH
1 kids' Christmas musical
1 school conference for DS (DD already had hers....she's in 2nd grade and reading at 5th grade level! So proud!)
And packing, packing, and re-packing!

Today is DD's birthday. I am taking her to get her ears pierced. She is SO excited. :yay: :cheer2: She's begged me for two years to get them pierced. Then we are going out to shopping, out to dinner with the family and coming home to have birthday pie. She doesn't like cake so I made her my award winning Sweet and Sour Cherry Pie. (Best in Show, Frederick County Fair, 2007--WOOT! Yay me! :thumbsup2 )

This morning when she came downstairs for breakfast (blueberry muffins--her request), there were gifts on the table. She said, "I get GIFTS too?!?!? But I'm getting my ears pierced!" After she opened them and left for school, I refilled the bags with more little gifts for our trip. She'll be so surprised! She keeps saying, "This is going to be the best birthday EVER!" :cake:

Next weekend she is having a sleepover with 3 friends from school. popcorn::

Life is exciting!

So....the ear piercing didn't go so well. DD was so happy and excited when I picked her up from school. We went to the mall, got a snack and DD spent her b-day money at Justice (her favorite store!). Then we headed over to get her ears pierced. We managed to get ONE ear done....and then she was terrified to do the second one. The woman tricked her when she did the first one. After about (literally) an HOUR of the clerk and me trying to help her calm down and do the second one, we finally gave up. We ended up taking out the first earring and she said, "Mommy, I'm not getting my ears pierced until I'm 30! So we came home, relaxed for a while and then went out to dinner. After dinner we came home and had birthday cherry pie and ice cream. :cake:

I felt terrible about the whole ear piercing incident, but DD said she had a good day and was happy at the end of it. She still has her sleep-over to look forward to next weekend.

DS woke up at 5:30am today with 102.5 fever. I have never seen him like this--he is moaning and complaining that he hurts everywhere. I think it's the fever. The really fun part :crazy2: is that DD and I shared a drink with him last night....*sigh*. It's the gift that just keeps on giving.....

hi! hope DS makes a speedy recovery.. and that you don't catch it either! ;)

What a shame about DD's ear-piercing incident, otherwise it sounded like a lovely birthday :cutie: ... both my sisters had their ears pierced when they were 13 years old, but I didn't want mine done, and still haven't! Guess it's one less thing to spend money on

Sounds like a really fun day. I am so jealous no of all the Christmas activites! :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday to DD. Sounds like she is having a wonderful day.

We did a sleep over when Paige was about that age. But we had about 7 girls. I told her never again. LOL! They were up all night, which was fine, but they kept coming and waking me up for dumb reasons. I was so tired the next day. And they all seemed fine. :rolleyes1

I just read your update! Too bad about DD. I did my girls when they were babies. But Paige would pull hers out alot or get an infection, so she had hers repeirced several times. She kind of got use to it I guess, but she still would cry sometimes.

I hope DS gets better fast.
Claire woke up with diarhea last night. I hope it wasn't a sign of sickness. She's still sleeping now, so I'll see how she is in a little bit once she gets up.

So sorry to hear DS is sick! There is so much going around right now. Every time I hear someone coughing or sneezing I want to yell for the kids to run! :lmao:

Brenda has hear ears done. We got them done about 18 months ago. The first time we went the lady suggested we bring her back when there was 2 people working. They shot both at the same time or I don't think it would have happened. She fussed for just a few minutes then we went over and looked at earrings that she would like to get later when they could be changed. We did have the back pop off one after only about a week of them in her ears so we had to run to the jewelry store and get another locking back. Now that she has had them done for so long so loves it! She wasn't too fond when we first had them done, but it was all she was asking for... for a LONG time!

Hope DS recovers soon and that you guys don't catch it. poor little guy!

and the ear piercing incident........oh no! i can see how it would definitely scare little ones- my niece almost did the same thing, but we somehow managed to get the second one done too- more tricking. :rotfl:

sweet and sour cherry pie? do tell- never heard of it- sounds yummy!

Like I said, she has been begging for 2 years....and then at the piercing place she started screaming (while crying and pointing at me) "WHY DID YOU MAKE ME DO THIS???" Ummmmm...what? It was a lovely performance for the 15 or so people gathered around to watch! She did apologize to me later but not in front of the nice crowd who now think I'm an awful mother for torturing my poor daughter.

She did end up having a good day. We might go see MegaMind this afternoon after school if the kids don't have too much homework. We are only having 3 girls for the sleepover. She had a big one last year and I swore "NEVER EVER AGAIN!" Fortunately she agreed with me because one girl kept them up all night and she was unhappy about it.

Tam--I know exactly what you mean! I kept DS home on Sunday even though he was better because I get so mad at other parents who send their kids back to school or church before they are recovered. Arrgh! Just keep them home until they are well!

I think DD's ear piercing would have gone better if we had both done at the same time. The funny thing is (well, not really funny but interesting??) that a couple years ago we had an incident with a rabid racoon and DS, DD and I all had to undergo post-rabies exposure vaccinations. It's a series of 5 or 6 shots--the first one is an immunoglobulin which is thick and painful. My kids did not fuss or cry or even complain at ANY of those appointments. They get blood drawn without tears every single time....I just didn't expect her to be so upset.

Thanks! DS is better...I had just a touch of whatever it was later on Saturday but never got sick and DD doesn't seem to have had any of it yet (crossing fingers).

Yes, my sweet and sour cherry pie is AMAZING (if I do say so myself!) I'd be happy to share my recipe though if anyone wants it. It's not hard. You use cherry pie filling for part of it and a mixture with frozen sweet cherries for the other part--in layers. The crust is layered with toasted almonds and the top crust has more toasted almonds and a drizzle of frosting. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

It's cold and gray and rainy here today. (Sunny and 80 in Orlando :sunny:) So I'm hanging at Starbucks in front of the crackling fire with a Toffee Mocha and my Disney planning notebook and my computer :surfweb:. Sweeeeeeet! (Oh, and a yummy pumpkin muffin too--have you had one of these? My first one but it will not be my last!)

I'm making a list and checking it twice :santa: gonna find out what I'm missing from my Disney packing list. Then I'm going to the store to pick up last minute stuff (even though we still have 22 days) and then home to play with my scrapbooking toys. :cloud9: And maybe do a little :laundy: too. I've been trying to lose weight (seriously) since the end of August and have lost 8 lbs. I'm frustrated it's not more, but I pulled out a pair of pants I haven't been able to wear for 2 years and put them on today...and they fit! WOOT! :thumbsup2

DS and DD have chosen their "here's what I want to ride very first at MK" rides so I'm playing with RideMax some more. I love RideMax. I use it every trip. Even if I don't follow everything it recommends, I feel more settled when I have that little plan in my hands.

DH just called. Tomorrow is his follow-up cardiology appointment. I'm anxious to talk to the doctor again and to see if they do some repeat blood work to see if his choloesterol has come down at all. I hope it shows a big difference. Someone told me yesterday that they thought he looked better than they ever remembered him. I think so too. He tires easily but it's a "I worked hard and now I'm tired" kind...not a "I'm so exhausted I can barely function" kind. I'll let you know how he's doing after the appointment tomorrow. I'm taking a couple hours away from work to go with him.

Just found your report!!!! Your trip sounds AWESOME! We'll be there from Dec. 7-12, but our only park day that's the same as yours is DHS on the 11th :) Maybe we'll see each other LOL.....

i saw you post that on FB about sitting at starbuck's - sounds heavenly!!! :thumbsup2

so glad DH is feeling better too- hope the appt goes well.

and huge congrats on the weight loss, i put on like 10lbs after our december trip last year and have been struggling with it all year long. i know how hard that fight is- congrats!!

Glad DS is feeling better and DD skipped the bug. I too am getting paranoid about getting sick (we leave in 12 days). Last night at Cub Scouts there were a few boys just hacking. :sad2: I tried to keep DS out of their group.

Sitting at Star Bucks sipping a peppermint mocha as you do your WDW planning sounds heavenly right now. :cloud9: I did buy some peppermint mocha half'n half to go with my morning java as I catch up on the dis. :surfweb::rotfl: It's overcast and cold here too.

Enjoy your day of planning, packing and shopping! Hope DH has an A+ report from the cardiologist.

DSS got a JOB!!!!!! YESSSSS! :cool1: If you've been following along, you know that he graduated from vet school in June and finished all his clinical work in August and has been living with us while he looked for a job. Just today he made the decision to accept a position in Corpus Christi, TX beginning in January AND he put down a deposit on an apartment.:banana::banana:

Congrats to him, that's awesome. Corpus is really nice- i have family down there. We vacationed down at Port Aransas and drove over to Corpus 2 years ago. Actually my mom's cousin that lives down there does a lot of work with the animal shelters and stuff too- i always see her posting up on FB about it and trying to adopt out dogs! :thumbsup2
