Kimmy2Disney sent us the final updates of her trip last night.




Kim said, "Friday night (7/19) we decided to eat at 1900 Park Fare for DD's birthday since Cinderella is currently her go to movie!"








"DH had a Strawberry Julep, he thought it was very good! And I had a Forever Young martini, which had muddled blueberries in it. Delicious!"




Forever Young - Tito's Handmade vodka, Cedilla Acai liqueur, muddled blueberries, agave nectar and fresh lemon juice.
& Strawberry Julep - Maker's Mark bourbon, muddled strawberry, mint, fresh lemon juice and agave nectar





"Some of our plates, including strawberry soup, mini clambake and some other goodies! DH loved the All you can eat Sushi! He is not all about character meals but since he found that, he wants this to be a regular."


















"Next are the dessert plates and the cupcake brought over for DD. We went easy with dessert because we had the Boardwalk Bakery cake waiting for us back at AKL."






















"DD excited about her cupcake and saying cheese!"








"Last some character pics with me, DD and the cousins! The boys really hammed it up with the stepsisters and they played along nicely."






















"It was a lot of fun! And the food was good! We will definitely do this again!" ​

Next Kim sent a two-part update from Saturday, July 20, their last day at Disney World.


First this snack update from an ice cream cart at Animal Kingdom...


She said, "We got Dibs and Mickey bars! (Can't believe this was my 1st this trip!)"









Don't you just love the expression on the boy's face in the background?




"Came back to our hotel and found this..."




"Mousekeeping must have noticed that we had a mini birthday party the night before and set this up on our table! Had to include it because I thought it was so cute an thoughtful!"





Then Part II of her update was from their lunch at AKL's...








"Two of us had half roasted chicken meals with couscous and African stew..."





"It was very moist and delicious!"





"DH had a bacon cheeseburger and side of couscous..."




"He enjoyed it!"




"Everyone else had pepperoni flatbreads, which they thought were delicious and the perfect size!"

Kim said, "We thought it was very good. I didn't really experience it like I would have wanted because at this point whatever illness was spreading to me, but I liked the seafood chowder, and the other couple of things that I did try!"

Now for our First Update of the Day (and the first update from a member of our August team of live reporters), sent to us by a new reporter who arrived at Disney World yesterday, pennyplanner.


She said, "A rainbow over Bay Lake. A beautiful way to start a trip!"






Then their first meal was at the Polynesian's...


Kona Cafe



First some menu pics...












"The bread is a soft texture, which I normally don't care for but it' slightly sweet, which is lovely. The butter is soft and very spreadable!"



"This appetizer was Sticky Wings with mustard drizzle and toasted sesame seeds."



"Tasted like ribs! Could have used more sesame seeds."



"My appetizer were the dumplings with pork..."




"Seaweed salad on the side was just the right amount. The creamy ginger soy sauce was the star accompaniment. Delicious pot stickers!"



And for their entrees...



Togarashi Spiced Ahi Tuna served with Tempura Fried Vegetable Maki Roll and Red Wine Reduction

"The fish was cooked perfectly to order, medium. The rolls, while delicious, needed a dipping sauce to "punch" them up. My sister also said the red wine reduction didn't add to the dish. Overall, she would get it again though!"



"My entree was the Grilled Lamb Chops..."




Grilled Curry-crusted Lamb Chops with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Swiss Chard, and Mango Compote


"The chutney was just mango chunks, but good. The Swiss chard had too much bacon for my taste. It made the chard a bit greasy. The fingerling potatoes were firm. The star? The lamb was really wonderful. Cooked medium rare, it was perfect. The photo shows rare, but it was just right!"



And for their desserts...




Banana-Chocolate Creme Brulee

My sister said that this alone was worth a trip to Kona!!! A spoonful gone in the picture, shows the chocolate underneath. 5+ STARS!"



"My dessert was the Chocolate Fondue..."




"I ate a couple pieces of fruit and took the rest to go. My sister said the tuile cookie was buttery goodness!"


"Overall, the wine list was good, and it is always worth a trip! Our Overall rating: 4 1/2 stars. It is our first night dinner stop each time we go to WDW." ​

Just had to post out of pure excitement- I just booked Victoria and Albert's for our anniversary I'm August! This will be a huge splurge (we are both in school!) but I've booked myself in at work for three overtime shifts to make it happen. I have dreamed about eating there since I was 13 and had to pinch myself when I got the confirmation email. Of course, I will be sure to include pictures with my live updates!

Yep, they had mini clambake bowls that a chef was steaming right on the buffet line! Each had a few crab legs, some clams, mussels, shrimp,, a small piece of corn, potato pieces and some sausage slices. They were delish, and the perfect size!

We have received a few more updates today, including another update from pennyplanner.


She said, "We scored a "fast pass" for Be Our Guest in the Magic Kingdom."






"Our server delivered our choices in this rolling trolley. We seated ourselves in the Rose Gallery dining room. It was much less hectic than the ballroom."






"We both chose the slow-roasted pork shank with mashed potatoes and green beans."




"We did not see any evidence of bacon, mushrooms, or carrots. However, the meat and potatoes were delicious. The green beans were also good, cooked to just a bit beyond al dente. No mushiness! There were also small bits of onion and red pepper slices with the beans. The cupcake in the background is the strawberry cream cheese one. While it looks small, it was the perfect size for dessert."




"My sister had the triple chocolate cupcake."




"While both cupcakes were good, hers was our favorite."


"Beverage service was average with just plain unsweetened iced tea, no 4 variety iced teas like at other venues."




"We dined in the Rose Gallery dining room which was much less hectic than the ballroom."






"We strolled over to the West Wing. It was dark and a little bit of a downer with its appearance of disrepair. Some small children were covering their ears when it thundered. The theming was all quite good. I was wondering just how different it must be at dinner. I am assuming that it would be a standard dining service with wait staff. I would hope it was a more relaxed atmosphere for the cost of dinner. Of course, a glass of wine would also help!"


"Overall counter service rating: 4 stars. We would definitely return."

Pork Chop basted with a Chipotle-Barbecue Sauce and served with Smoked Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese (no spinach)

"The meat was delicious, the macaroni stayed on the plate. Pretty flavorless."



"Payton had the classic cheeseburger..."



Olivia's Classic Burger topped with Applewood-smoked Bacon and Cheddar and served with french fries



"Logan had the BBQ Pork Sandwich..."



Barbecued Pulled Pork Sandwich served on a Kaiser roll with french fries



"Ed had the Club Sandwich..."



Traditional Club Sandwich - Smoked Turkey, Bacon, (no lettuce or tomato) and Mayonnaise on Multigrain Bread, served with french fries

We received a few more updates today from nicole0992, the first one from Pop Century's...










She said, "We went to visit a friend of my daughter's who works at the front desk at Pop Century and decided to have lunch. We both decided on the meaty Stromboli, which is a new item. It took 30 min. to get our food. It was so slow it was ridiculous."









"The Stromboli was packed with salami, pepperoni, and Sopressata. There was actually too much meat because when I cut into it, literally a few ounces of oil from the meat being warmed inside just poured out into my plate."




"It came with a side Caesar salad..."










"I don't recommend this meal at all." ​

We received one more update last night, this one from the reporting team of strawberrylilacs and her grandaughter, AnimalKingdomGirl, who arrived at Disney World on Tuesday.

AnimalKingdomGirl said, "Sorry we haven't sent in any reports yet. We HAVE taken pictures, but we have been a little preoccupied this past day. This morning we found out that our room @ the Polynesian had bedbugs. We couldn't go to our room all day and they took all of our clothes (and stuffed animals for that matter) so we had to buy PJs for tonight and clothes to wear to MK tomorrow. OH! We also got upgraded to the Grand Floridian!! I will send you a report as soon as possible! Don't worry, we didn't forget that we signed up to do this!"​

Second that! We found that they can be very accommodating, but you have to ASK for it. for rest of vacay!

BTW, Barb, if you would like another reporter for Sept, we will be there 10th-18th with four adults eating up a storm. I have enjoyed this thread so thoroughly, that I'd love to give back.
