Comfort station showers?

Can you describe the comfort station showers for me? Is there a door? Is there a separate area to get changed? Thanks!

If you do a Google search for "fort wilderness campground comfort stations" and then click on images, there are some good pictures of the comfort stations interiors including the showers. The showers have a separate changing area from the shower itself that is separated by a shower curtain. The shower / changing area does have a door than can be locked with a slide latch. I will say that I find the changing area a little small. I would also say that you would be hard pressed to find a cleaner and better maintained campground bath house anywhere. I agree that it is a great campground shower - they even have the niche in the wall to put your shampoo and body wash bottles while you shower. Great hot water and pressure. But would it kill Disney to put in a couple more hooks in the changing areas???!!! That is my only complaint about them.

Yes I saw that niche, that is fantastic! It's the first thing I noticed about the picture! That's great to hear about hot water and great water pressure too. Trying to gather as much info as I can about the Fort before we go. My DS (13) is a Disney fanatic but hates camping, although we've never camped at the Fort before, and we've never stayed in a pop-up before (just a tent). Hopefully he'll love it. I personally CANNOT WAIT!!!

I concur with all that was said (emphasis on the "Small" changing area, and a BIG emphasis on the Hooks.)

I will add that even though the changing area just outside the shower stall and the more public area is small, if you wanted there is a larger but more open area just outside of the shower area. Typically there is a bench and several hooks on the wall. Consider this a "Waiting" area for the shower stalls. It's also much more roomy to change in. There are more hooks in this area so it's easier to hang things up to keep them from falling on an otherwise wet floor. It does afford some privacy from the rest of the comfort station (the sinks and toilets) but is by no means "Private" in that anyone can walk around the wall to the area.

If you are used to showering in cramped RV showers, then this will not be an issue. And yes they are VERY clean.

Last point I would note. The Shower Stall is actually bigger than the (Private) changing area for the stall.

We went camping at a state park last weekend and I was missing the Fort...the showers are the BEST.

Are the showers busy? Do you normally have to wait in line or are there so many stations that its usually not (or a small) issue?

Most times, I have never had an issue. Once however, we did. It seems the the 3 stalls at the comfort station were in use when we got there. (Me and my Daughters BF). One stall opened up after about 15 minutes. The DS's BF graciously let me go first. Not thinking he would wait long for another stall to open up, I didn't rush. I thought I heard one of the others finish, but after my about 10-15 minute shower/dry/change I came out and he was still waiting. I felt bad because if I had realized it I would have hurried up a bit more.

The other 2 stalls were STILL in the shower after my DS's BF came out of the stall too. AND they had the hot water on full. How could I tell? All the steam that was FLOWING out of the top of their stalls. So even after we both got out, shaved, and finished cleaning up, it was a solid 30 minutes we were there and they were in the stalls before we got there. I like a long shower too, but that was just downright rude.

While I think this was an exception (as it's the only time I had an issue like this), know that inconsiderate folks can make a wait a bit longer. I typically had less issues with the showers than I have with the Washing machines.

I had never gone into a comfort station but after looking at the picture, it is nearly identical to the locker room showers in The Living Seas for guests to use after doing on of their tours. Agree that the changing area is small, and if you're not careful, your clothes will get wet.

We never waited for a shower stall, but there were a couple times when it was pretty busy, mostly at around 10-11 p.m when everybody got back from the parks. I never saw long lines or anything though.

My experience has been the Male showers rarely have a wait. I could normally get in and out pretty quick. The Female shower during early morning peak times and evening peak times often do have a wait.
To concur with many other posters they are probably the cleanest of any of the Campgrounds I have stayed at.

PEC, my wife reports that most often the wait on the Women's side is for a sink/mirror and not as much for a shower.

I know what's good for me so I will leave my comment at that.

YEs you may be right about that. I just know I would be in and out in no time while my Wife and daughters would be in line and would take another 30 minutes. That said when we were out of sync with the morning rush and evening rushes they could finish up almost as fast as I could.
