Oops!!! I had meant to say Comfort Inn LBV.. but my husband sidetracked me, and then I forgot what the heck I was talkin about!
Anyway, I have also stayed at the Comfort Inn, LBV, and it too is okay... basically the same as the others.. nothing fancy, but adequate. They recently remodeled all of the rooms -- which is nice because now all rooms have refrigerators, but 4 Pts. does as well. I believe the Resort Fee that they charge at Comfort was $6/day as opposed to 4 Pts. which was $4/day (I am trying to remember correctly).
AND, actually, if you stay at the 4 Pts. it is NOT really farther away. You actually are within 3 mins. drive of AK if you take the shortcut right after McDonalds off on the left by the Holiday Inn... from the Comfort it would take a good 15-20 mins. to get to AK. All the other parks would probably take the same amount of time from either hotel.
I guess if I had my choice, I would pick the 4 Pts. -- it's right across the street from a Taco Bell, a Goodings Supermarket, and Burger King and McDonalds are less than a min. away, and there is ultimately less traffic going there if you take the AK route every time -- not a lot of people leave the MK and start heading toward the AK and the AK Lodge, so you tend to get there fairly quickly. The rooms are about even... so that would be my only deciding factor.
If you are thinking of going those routes though, you might as well give Priceline a shot! You won't get anything worse than the 4 Pts. if you do a 2 Star in the WDW Area only -- and you can get it for $20 a night with no add on bonus. I have recently done a Priceline for 2-1/2 stars and received the Best Western on Hotel Plaza Blvd. on 2 separate occasions. Both times were only for one night and one room. The first time I got it for $30/night + the Priceline fee of $5.95. The second time I tried $25/night + the PL fee of $5.95. I could have been very lucky though... but the other choices for 2-1/2 Star hotels are very much worth the $25-$30/night as well -- and I am sure it is less than you were going to make your reservation for at the 4 PTs. or Comfort Inn anyway. So you might just give it a shot and see what kind of deal you can get. I probably wouldn't bid less than $30 for a hotel in the 2-1/2 star category unless you have a long time before your trip (you can try again after 7 days), or less than $20 for a 2 star (we have also done a 1 star, but in my opinion, the $$ you have to bid on those isn't worth the difference in quality, or the location of the hotels). We have also done 3 star and gotten decent results (the Hotel Royal Plaza - $35 + $5 add on, and the Summerfield Suites - $35 + $5 add on.. and I think the Sheraton Safari also was a 3 star, $30 + $5 add on -- I sure miss those add ons!). And once, before they added the resort category, I did a 4 star and got the Swan for $60 + $10 add on -- of course that was the best.
Well, so sorry to get so carried away. I hope this helps anyone that is interested in the scoop on hotels! I do have several other PL stories to tell if anyone is interested they can email me!
