This has probably been answered a thousand times, but I was not able to find a thread that does. but I wanted to know how combining contracts works. At the moment I have 300 points at Copper Creek, We usually go to WDW in early October or Late September we usually stay about 10 days. I've been able to stay at the Boardwalk a few times, but never our whole stay because of the 7th month restriction. This year I decided instead of Switching hotels mid week to just stay our full stay at copper.

If I were to get a smaller contract lets say 100 points for Boardwalk am I able to use my copper creek points to still book early? Even if 100 points does not cover the full 10 days stay?

If you bought 100 points at Boardwalk, you could use those 100 points at 11 months, but not your CCV points. The points could only be combined at 7 months.

No. You can only use that resorts home priority to book at 11 months. So you can only book copper creek at 11 months with your 300 points and only use the 100 points at boardwalk at 11 months if you buy it.

What you want to do would diminish buying home priority. Someone could get cheap points at SSR/OKW and a tiny 25/50 pointer elsewhere and use all their points at a more premium location.

Points are only good at their home resorts during the home resort booking window.

It doesn’t matter what else someone owns. So, to book BWV, only your BWV points will work before 7 months.

That is what I figured. But still wanted to get an answer. Unfortunately, in my case and Boardwalk being as popular as it is, I can't ever book my full stay with the 7 months.
It is definitely going to be harder to book a long stay anywhere at 7 months.. except SSR or OKW.
What you want to do is book what you want/can at BWV at 11 months, then book what you want/can at CCV at 11 months. Then you can waitlist the rest at 7 months… or just be happy to split stay. :)
Split stay between BWV and CCV sounds amazing!!

I guess my best bet for next year, would be to either find someone to trade with or someone that wants to do a transfer.

Well yes and no, while it is amazing. the day of the hotel swap kinda sucks and it takes time away form the parks to do it.

How so??

I leave in the morning from one place and I come back to a new place after the park? Where is the time wasted?

If you have cold groceries you may have to Uber/Lyft them over yourself. Maybe that’s what they are referencing. I don’t enjoy that part and we will always have cold groceries…so split stays aren’t my jam.

I agree, no time really wasted.

I actually like to make the swap day a no-park day anyway. Relax in the morning, go right up to the 11am check-out, then leave our bags and go to DS or a few hours at the free water park before going to the new hotel.

That’s a good idea with the free water park day this year.

Oh yea, but you really can’t do that anyway, you’ll have to be without refrigeration for at least 3 to 8 hours.

Exactly, you just go about your day as you would, it’s just not really the best time to do a resort day.

Not if you bring the items yourself to Bell Services when moving. BS has refrigerated storage and will keep your items in there for you but for whatever reason they no longer will transport those items between resorts like they would in the past.

DS was very happy that they have the refrigerated storage as all of the candy from MNSSHP would have melted when we went in August lol

They stopped the transferring of cold items due to an issue with medical supplies.

The vans that move things do not have refrigeration and I guess there was an issue.

But, we just Lyft our things over which works because on a split day, we don’t do parks until later!

I'll share our pro tip for split stays and refrigeration in case someone else may find it handy

If staying in a room with a full fridge and freezer (so 1BR+), we:
  1. Make sure we have water bottles on our grocery order
  2. Either pack an extra empty collapsible/duffel bag or make sure we can consolidate to get one empty bag or backpack once we take out our park stuff
  3. Refill our empty water bottles with tap water, freeze them, and use them for ice packs in the empty plastic bags from our grocery delivery and pack the extra bag/backpack with our groceries. (You can also just freeze your extra water bottles if you have a bunch instead of saving empty ones)
  4. Have them move your bags like normal. It seems the rooms are at least air conditioned where they store the bags because the water bottles have always still been around 90% frozen or so and our groceries still ice cold when we had our bags delivered at the second resort in the afternoon.
  5. Enjoy a clean new room at a nice new resort!

Nice PRO TIP!!
Also when done you can use the extra bag for souvenirs to come home. ;)

To each their own, and God love ya if this is your thing. Split stays suck. Full stop.

Arrive at Resort A, unpack suitcases and owner's lockers, and load up the fridge and cupboards with groceries. Get everyone settled in, and then just a few days later, pack everything up for the hotel transfer. Be out of Resort A by 11:00 AM. Go about your business and then go to Resort B, where if you're lucky, your new room might be ready before 4:00 PM, or later. Then, retrieve all your stuff to unpack again for a few more days. Thanks, but no way! :)

Yea, seems like a love it or hate it approach! We love it and do it just about every trip - like starting vacation over again when we get to the new resort. But I do understand why some view it as very cumbersome and not something they wish to do.....!
