Combining Contracts

To each their own, and God love ya if this is your thing. Split stays suck. Full stop.

Arrive at Resort A, unpack suitcases and owner's lockers, and load up the fridge and cupboards with groceries. Get everyone settled in, and then just a few days later, pack everything up for the hotel transfer. Be out of Resort A by 11:00 AM. Go about your business and then go to Resort B, where if you're lucky, your new room might be ready before 4:00 PM, or later. Then, retrieve all your stuff to unpack again for a few more days. Thanks, but no way! :)
You would love the stay we have planned in August… a 6–4-4 split with 5 kids aged between 6 months and 11 years (not all mine I hasten to add!). What can I say but I like a challenge.

Wow! And you're doing it in August! The surface of the sun is cooler than WDW in August. Good luck!

We are not fans of split stays either but ours is more of a crash leave stay situation.

Never have enough points so what we do is fly in the night before and use a FNC from our credit card. We arrange our luggage so that everyone’s sleeping attire, outfits/swim and toiletries are in one bag so we only have to open the one. In the morning we pack that one suitcase with our laundry and toiletries and then head to DVC and drop our items with Bell Services the next am.

This morning we dropped off everything to Bell Services at 10:45 went to Blizzard Beach and got the notification our room was ready at 1:11 pm.

Now we can enjoy our time at the resort without having to worry about packing up and moving everything.

I think showing up early does help us get a room faster (although BWV never gets anywhere close to the requested room area I guess I need to book OKW more as they have given me my requested room every time)

I guess my best bet for next year, would be to either find someone to trade with or someone that wants to do a transfer.

Another thing you could do is alternate trips. I’m not sure what size room you need and possible seasons, but with banking/borrowing 100pts BWV it is possible to squeeze out 9 night trips in 2BR three times over a 7-8 period.

The years you stay at BW would also let you bank CCV points, so you’d have more points to spend the years you use CCV.

Well yes and no, while it is amazing. the day of the hotel swap kinda sucks and it takes time away form the parks to do it.

Yeah I’m not a fan of split stays because of the time it takes to pack up my family and then get them settled in to another room. Settling in to a room once per trip is enough! Lol. After doing them a few times I’ve decided it’s only worth it if it means we can split our stay between an MK and EP resort, with at least 3 nights in each. We did a 4+4 between Poly and BWV and that worked great.

This is essentially how we plan to use our 100 pt BCV / 210 pt BLT contracts. Use the BCV to book studios for small family trips and bank the extra. Years when we take my mom too we’ll book BLT 2 BR at 11 months, then change at 7 months to hopefully BCV 2 BR, or we will waitlist BCV and BWV 2 BR since Crescent Lake is our favorite. And if it doesn’t come through, that’s fine because BLT will be nice! And maybe now and then BLT will get used elsewhere. Aulani, Poly, Grand Floridian…maybe Hilton Head!

How so??

I leave in the morning from one place and I come back to a new place after the park? Where is the time wasted?

When we visit all days are park days, we go to all 4 Disney Parks and Universal. This year will be 7 with Epic Universe. The only days we don't go to a park is the day we arrive and the day we leave. So, exactly for this reason I hate split stays, we've only done it once and I don't think I want to ever do it again.

We don't bring groceries back to the hotel, maybe some drinks and snacks thats it, we have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the parks. Unless, Disney started offering a service where they bring all your stuff from one hotel to the next, where you could drop off your luggage very early, then just head to to the other resort after and grab your key split stay is just not optimal for us.

They do this currently but as previously stated they no longer move perishable items which doesn’t seem like it would be an issue for you.

You just have bell services come up or drop it off with them and tell them your next resort.

Again in your situation this won’t matter since you spend all day at the parks but for others I recommend keeping a pool bag with you if you want to use the resort pool or the free water park day.

This is worth checking out. Too late for this year, but for next year.

We love our split stays. We don't really get groceries when we're here or use owners lockers and we typically just live out of the suitcase. While not the direct reason we do it we like getting the extra housekeeping during the stay by switching rooms. We also like the change of scenery especially if the first room we got isn't to our liking. During the days we switch we just sleep in some and laze around the room until 11 when bellhop arrives and then go get lunch and head to the parks for a few hours and then usually after that the room is ready 🤷‍♂️. Probably won't be doing as many split stays with little kids and if we do I'll probably try to get them to take a nap in the DVC lounge 😂

I would not want DVC if it wasn't for split stays. Anything longer than 4 nights in one hotel i get bored and want to utilize new amenities, shops and restaurants. Plus they make it so easy to move with luggage transfers. No kids or owners lockers either.

It is certainly easier with no kids or the amount of items we have to move but we can still visit the other resorts to take advantage of everything they have to offer except for the fitness centers and pools.

For us it is nice to know exactly where “home” is.

Another thing not in favor for us doing split stays is that we do a lot of laundry and a good portion of that is line dry. So much so that we have 2 portable drying racks in our owners lockers :)

While I prefer not to do split stays - I do them every time…I stay 4-5 days at an Epcot resort and then 4-5 days at a MK resort…so much easier to just scoot over to each park (use an ECV) rather than use busses (I don’t usually visit AK)…I drive so I have my car and can transport everything easily.

It is definitely going to be harder to book a long stay anywhere at 7 months.. except SSR or OKW.
What you want to do is book what you want/can at BWV at 11 months, then book what you want/can at CCV at 11 months. Then you can waitlist the rest at 7 months… or just be happy to split stay. :)
Split stay between BWV and CCV sounds amazing!!
That’s not how I would do it.

I would book whatever I can at BWV during 11 months window. Same with CCV.

Depending of when you book your BWV stay I would waitlist the remaining days - during the 7-11 months window. That said, I wouldn’t want to waitlist it already at 11 months but I might wait closer to 7 month maybe like 8-9 months out. That way you still utilize the 11 months window for the waitlist. ASSUMING that the waitlist will fill after the opening of the 7 months window you can then replace the CCV reservation.

Waitlisting too soon might risk the waitlist filling during 7-11 months window and in this case it’s no good since you can’t use the CCV until the 7 months window.

I know as I get older I won't care for moving so much either!

It would actually be nice to stay at a monorail resort and use the monorail to go restaurant hopping and what not And not move and get a housekeeping service 🤣🤣.

I think I'm just so new and excited, I want to try everything! I really wish they would open up those spas again! SSR and OKW are of interest to us because we enjoying golfing so it would be nice to have a nice relaxed trip 😀

Yes it would be nice if the spa would reopen at SSR it was so much larger than the one at VGF.

If it’s not coming back they just need to rename it to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & NO Spa

This sounds like a great idea to do them as location based for park access minimizing the reliance on buses.
