I am getting a mini photo shoot done at Kusel Castle here in Germany with my yellow lab/akita mix Minnie. My husband is deployed to Iraq and I wanted to surprise him for Christmas with the photos. My dog will be wearing a Christmas Plaid collar in green, white & red. What color(s) do you suggest I wear? I am wearing dark rinse jeans but am unsure of what to wear for my shirt. Here is the location: http://www.burglichtenberg.de/en/index.htm & http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=gmail&q=kusel castle&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

Keep it simple. Maybe a dark red sweater. Any solid color would be lovely.
Main thing would be to ensure it is "Lab Hair-free"--almost an impossible task, I know.
I was stationed in Wiesbaden five years 1986-1991. Best tour of my AF service. I loved Germany. Made it to Kusel once for a volksmarsch.
Keeping good thoughts for your husband. He'll love the picture.

Love your dogs they are beautiful! Thank you for the advice. We love Germany too!

Even though you are obviously at a beautiful castle, I'd recommend that you keep the background fairly simple. Your hubby will want to see you and the dog, so get in close.

Thank you! Although obviously, we didn't have Grace and Augusta when we were stationed in Germany, we loved having a dog there! We took Penny everywhere with us--restaurants, shopping areas, and the zillions of festivals that were always going on.

We had a professional shoot done with our dog once, when he became sick and we knew we didn't have a lot of time left with him. We used the same photographer who did our wedding. We went down to the beach around sunset and at his suggestion, we wore bold colors. It's a beautiful picture (albeit a little sad, probably always better to get these things done under happy circumstances).

I would say the color you wear should be one you'll (all) be happy looking at for years to come. If you like seasonal colors, then wear those (green might be nice given the surroundings - beautiful, btw). If not, then wear white. Keep it simple, though - plain color, probably not anything patterned that would detract from the dog or the scenery. It's a great gift idea, good luck with the shoot. :thumbsup2
