CNN & FOX-Al-Zarqawi killed

Wow, this thread has become a complete Rush Limbuagh-esque talking point fest.

Oy vey.

Are you implying that every Commander in Chief and Sec Def be required to rise to the level of admirals and generals? If that were the case, we would have never won WWII. Roosevelt and Truman did not fit that bill.

You are the one always touting their strategic military skills. I'm merely pointing out they certainly didn't get it (argueably, if they even have it) due to their military experience.

So are they supposed to have military experience (actual combat) to be CIC or SecofDef or not? And I've heard them say many times they refer to their commanders on the ground to help them make decisions. I doubt Bush micromanages the war in Iraq.

No. Not at all. Read closely. I'm simply stating they didn't get it from their military experience. There is no hidden meaning.

Rush who?

There is a difference in being glad an enemy has been dealt with (as I stated in my very first post to this thread) and the sickening delight that people are showing, up to and including posting gruesome photgraphs of his dead body.

I hate America? Yeah...that's why I joined the military...'cause I hate this country. Possibly the most ignorant comment I've ever seen on these boards.

NOWHERE have I said that "we are the bad guy." NOWHERE have I expressed anything but gratitude for those serving in the military (their commanders are another matter). NOWHERE have I excused or even mitigated the vile acts that Zarqawi was responsible for. However, I refuse to sit quietly while ghouls take delight in the death of innocent bystanders, shrugging it off as "oh well, that's just their bad luck for being in the wrong place."

It's funny...I know several people on this thread lay claim to being "christian", while I most certainly do not...but I can't help but wonder what an outside observer would think should he or she read these posts. :confused3 Just a thought...

And for this, I get told that I "hate America" ???

Puh-leeze!!! Do you think we are blind? When you posted your "bloodthirsty" comment back on page 3 of this thread, it was preceded by nothing more than a series of "thumbs up" posts.

My first post was on page TWO...just in case you missed it (which, obviously, you did). The "bloodthirsty" comment was more towards all the "Yay...we killed 7 other people too" and "rot in hell" comments.

Blind or not, I'd think maybe you could have figured that out.

Besides, what does that have to do with anything in my last post? :confused3

I was responding to the poster who said that our soldiers were being sent into battle by men who never wore the uniform or served. He was wrong.

Those "other 7 people" were his seven aides, not bystanders. Your comment was meant to provoke, and then once it did you got to act the victim. Maybe if you had no posting history, I'd be more likely to accept your victim status. But anybody that's been around here for a while knows better.

That's pretty trollish behavior if you ask me.

Maybe I missed it. Which post was a "ghouls taking delight in the deaths of innocent bystanders?"

Did you think he would turn himself in? Did you think he would surround himself only with his men? No, usually these types (as posted before) hide behind women and children, hide in mosques, hospitals, schools and the like because they are counting on opinions like yours.

The sentivity, although well meaning and sincere, is going to be our demise because our enemey has no such problems killing the innocents. We do go out of our way to avoid it. War is not fair, never has been, never will be. At some point war is kill or be killed and innocents will die. Right? No. Reality? Yes. You were in the military. Imagine yourself over there being afraid to pull a trigger because you were afraid to make a mistake. Is that what you want for our soldiers? How many have died already because of it? We will never know.... How much extra stress must it be to have that in the back of your mind at a moment of extreme danger. What if I am wrong? Will I be jailed? How about those pilots who did the bombing? Are they to be put on trial if there was a child killed? How many will enlist in the future? Not many for sure. Welcome to the draft.

I know. I feel so badly for those 7 other poor little terrorists. NOT. If that makes me a "ghoul" ( ) than so be it.

Lyeag - I couldn't agree more with you.

You know what...I'll just leave it at that. Call me a "troll" all you want, but I've been around this place as long as you, and I've stated my case while all you can do is resort to cheap shots.

I think that pretty well illustrates my point. Thanks for playing. :lmao:

wvervy- I honestly would like to hear your opinion on the questions I raised. I really wonder how people who have the same line of reasoning as you do think a war can be fought under so many restraints and be won? Forget how we got there for a few minutes and realize we ARE there. What do you tell the young men and women who stare down enemies such as these? Do you send them into battle with a laundry list of "conditions"? I realize there are rules of engagement that need to be followed, but I wonder how we can expect our brave soldiers to fight if they are worried if every move they make is going to be second guessed?
