CNN & FOX-Al-Zarqawi killed

I am glad this world is a little safer, if just for today. Our troops have done well!

A local DJ said this morning something along the lines of what he heard last before he died - the whistling of 2 bombs coming to get him and there was no where to go. Imagine the terror he felt. Exactly the kind of terror he had instilled in his country/world for so long.

I was wondering if he knew the end was coming. Oh I hope so!

This is great news.

I am very bothered by the fact that we (Americans) rejoice in human deaths though. I am very sad that we've all been robbed of an innocence that we once had.

Exactly. The glee expressed here reminds me...

nah...never mind. It's just not worth the argument.

As I said, I'm glad this man is dead. Here's hoping the dozen or so that will step up to take his place are less effective than he was.

I love how they framed the picture of his dead head. Nice touch.

It is, and demonstrates the grace of one culture compared to that of the deceased.

It is, and demonstrates the grace of one culture compared to that of the deceased. That stated, I would have preferred the taxidermy "mounted head on a wall" approach. :teeth:

Given the fact that I'm sure that many Americans were popping the corks when people such as Lee Harvey Oswald, Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, John Wilkes Booth (or Lincoln in the case of a lot of Southerners at the time), and even probably King George III also assumed room temperature, I'm curious to know when you think Americans lost this "innocence"?

Innocence? Just wondering if you have watched any tv, movies or listened to any popular music in the last 20 years.

Americans lost their innocence long ago.

I can only speak for myself when I say I am so relieved that man can't hurt anyone else.

I want to make it clear that I believe these terrorists are the reason I feel we've lot our innocence and I am with you in believing relieved that Zarqawi and others like him are dead. I also hope in the future that we get more of them.

When I say I feel we lost our innocence, I'm only saying that we Americans (those I know anyway) have never wished harm to any other people. I feel sad for the country that we now see things differently and I believe we have lost an innocence. Rightfully so IMO, but it's sad none the less.

Personally, I'd rather go back to the way things were on 9-10-01, but unfortunately, we don't have that luxury.

I wanted a reason to use those 3 dancing guys...this is the perfect moment!

F.Y.I. - the framed photo of Al-Zargawi that has been shown in the media has a picture of his face that has been shall-we-say "cleaned up." If one wants to see what this sick thug actually looked like right after his body was dragged out of the remains of the house that was bombed, a picture can be found here. Warning, it's not pretty, so please don't click the link unless you want see how this terrorist ended up looking as bad or worse than all his victims.

beachblanket,

I thought the press photo looked a little too cleaned up.

As always, I am thankful for each American advance in this war on terror.

This shows you why our military is one of the best in the world. They may stumble here and there, but they will find you in the end.

::yes::

Has anyone else noticed that buried in all the reporting on Al-Zargawi's death are comments to the effect that the $25 million -- yes folks, $25 million bounty on his head -- is going to be "honored" (ergo, paid to someone)? This obviously implies someone aware of his location -- perhaps even close to him -- was more than willing to sell him out.

Which raises our hopes that the bounty on Bin Laden -- currently at the same level (maybe it should be raised) -- will also get someone to talk. The moral with Al Zargawi is if the price is high enough, terrorists will eat their own.
