Which resorts are most popular with the tour groups?
.
I've worked Parade Audience ControL for more than 6 years and in no daily or nightly parade meeting have I ever heard we were supposed to stop chanting.
maybe its a new rule?As a former CM, I NEVER heard that. The 2 finger point and smile is a rule.. but telling guests to stop chanting.. nope!
Great info. But even better quote with your name...lolJust received a call from Disney today and found out cm's are suppose to be stopping any group from chanting. This has been a huge complaint issue for a while and if chanting or shouting is occurring, any cm is suppose to walk up to the group leader and ask them to stop.
I do. A group of 50 is meaningless compared to the thousands of people who attend the park every day and are being offended by the chanting. They aren't going to get pissed off and never come back because they can't chant.
Well unless they are lying to the OP and at least one other poster, DISNEY has already taken steps to offend them.
You pit 50 cheerleaders from Tennessee against 50 from Alabama and they are all in line together for RnR, a friendly rivalry will break out and soon you have 100 loud girls chanting and singing. It amazes me that this is so off-putting to some. I really do get a sense of cultural bias bleeding through here.
They were chanting yesterday so ... BUT a group did get severely reprimanded on Space Mountain. I never heard a CM speak with that much force. He was angry but they were being unsafe. I was very impressed!
A cup of water would have gotten rid of them.I stayed at PC in July (16 and 17) ... lots of tour groups at the resort, parks and DTD. First night there was a group of people sitting on a wall below my room (I was on the 4th floor) ... they were SOOOOO loud ... worst yet was the gal that kept shrieking with laughter. Exhausted and wanting/needing to get to sleep, I called the front desk and complained (it was 1:15AM), CM said she'd send security out and they must have come b/c the group quieted down shortly thereafter. The next night they were back out there at midnight, but they kept the noise down to a bearable level.
Next trip I'm going to ask to be put back in the 50's or 60's section ... it much quieter at that end of the resort.
I also found it annoying that the tour groups would fill the entire sidewalk at the resort and run you over if you didn't step off the walks and out of their way.
Isn't being enforced-never has been, never will be-at least not in July and January-the number of Guests chanting/singing/clapping then is just STAGGERING-too many to realistically hope to stop.
JMHO!!!!
Maybe Disney could offer other Guests a discount in July and January-"Fifteen % For The Fifteens"!!!!lol

No, I am not a parent of a child in a cheer group. Not even close. But I've been to my share of Yankees/Red Sox games and Steelers/Browns games to know that 100 people cheering at the same time is not reason for concern. It's called enthusiasm. I embrace it. Go to a football (European) game in Liverpool or Manchester some time and see what it is all about. Not everyone has fun in the same manner. I am not bold enough to think or suggest that "my way is the right way" or that "my way is the only way."Sounds like you may be the parent of someone on a cheer squad. If you are literally amazed that some people would find "100 loud girls chanting and singing" to be "off-putting" then there is no common frame of reference within which to have a discussion -- I find it equally amazing that anyone could fail to understand how that is off-putting.
I know. Right? And above I was accused of seeing cultural bias where none apparently exists. There are none so blind as those who will not see.I'm confused. Why would they need Portuguese speaking CMs?
Well, all I can say is that if what you say is true, we would never see complaints about people being placed amid Pop Warner groups, bands and large tour groups. But we do see those complaints. So it is either very easy to do what you say and Disney isn't doing it, or it isn't as easy to do what you say. One of my brothers managed a hotel at WDW for 12 years. I have a pretty good source of how bookings and blockings work.

I'm sure I read on the DIS that the chanting tour groups share no common identifying characteristic.
Thanks for that info.I was given a CM publication about the tour groups and nowhere does it say to stop them chanting or singing. In fact, it says to "respond with enthusiasm," if I remember the wording correctly.
Anyhow Disney needs CMs that speak Portuguese so they can communicate with these kids.
