CM discount = no special requests, right?

We are going to utilize a friend's CM "friends and family" discount for our trip. We'll have a stroller age child, and under ordinary circumstances I would request a ground floor room, but I'm wondering if that's not a good idea because of the discount. I don't want to cause any trouble or look like a high maintenance request since I know our actions reflect upon her. I don't want to ask my friend because she's the kind of person who wouldn't say it was a bad idea even if it was - she's too nice.

Anyone know if it is OK to make a request or is it better that I just keep my head down and thank my lucky starts that I'm not paying full price?

Go ahead and make the request. Just because you are using a discount doesn't mean you can't make a room request. Understand that it is a request only and can't be guaranteed, but they usually try to honor requests when they can.

We've had incredibly good discounts at various times and still made a room request. Nothing high maintenance about asking for the first floor!:flower3:

Keep in mind that your behavior is considered a representation of your cast member. It's fine to make a request, but if you don't get the request at first, inquire politely about a different room, or a room change on a later day. If they still can't accommodate the request, let it drop with no additional discussion and do not demand compensation. Having a screaming match in the lobby with the manager is not going to make any additional rooms appear, and it could very well get back to the manager of the CM that got you the discount.

Well said, using a CM discount is not the same as getting a discount offered by Disney such as AP, AAA or general public.

To the OP, I would have it noted and why, first floor due to young child.

Just curious but most (except for POR Bayou section) have elevators. So why the angst over the ground floor because you have a child in a stroller? I would thank my lucky stars for the discount and get what I get.

why does having a young child mean first floor?? unless there isn't elevator - now if said the child is afraid of hieghts I could see this

It doesn't have to but that is why the OP wants first floor, so it good to have a reason to give them.

Considering that the OP is thinking it's not even appropriate to make the request and stated that she doesn't want to cause any problems, I highly doubt she has any plans to have a screaming match in the lobby with a manager.

Making a simple room request to be placed on the first floor if possible is completely acceptable even if you are staying using a CM discount.

We booked last few trips using CM discount.

We made room requests and they were always met.
